We are blessed with the best at MPS and want to say a very big thank you to Mrs Holmewood, Miss Emma, Mrs Britter, Miss Sharon, Mr Steve, Mr Martin, Bill and Sandra. Alongside our fabulous teaching team, our brilliant SASS team ensure every student at Menai Public School is known, valued and cared for. Thank you so much!
25.01.2022 Education Week 2020 Book Parade! What a wonderful day celebrating learning at MPS and our favourite book characters! We missed having our families and friends onsite today, however our awesome students enjoyed cheering each other on in our short parade. Everyone made such a big effort! Special thanks to our amazing librarian Mrs Messiter for all her hard work and sharing her passion and love of books with our school community. ... 21.01.2022 Good afternoon, we are sooooo looking forward to seeing all of those smiling faces tomorrow! Some key information to help you make sure you are ready to go: 1. Drop off and pick up arrangements at the gate remain in place due to COVID-19 guidelines. Teachers will be on hand to welcome and support any hesitant arrivals in the morning. 2. A teacher will be on duty from 9am; please continue to support us in being COVID-safe by dropping your child to school as close to 9.25am as ...possible. 3. Students are to wear sports uniform tomorrow (and every Friday). 3. School starts for students in Years 1 - 6 at 9.25am with a whole school assembly in the hall to form 2021 classes and welcome everyone back. 4. Kindergarten 2021 families are invited to attend a short orientation morning from 10.15am - 11.15am. Students will be with Miss Ford in the Kindergarten room and parents/carers will be with Mrs Drury in the library. Please check in via QR code at the office upon arrival, aiming to arrive as close to 10.15am as possible. Students can wear their sports uniform. 5. School finishing times for Term 1 are as follows: Kindergarten (from Wednesday 3/2/21): 3.15pm (Gate 3) Years 1 & 2: 3.20pm (Gate 3) Years 3 & 4: 3.25pm (Gate 5) Years 5 & 6: 3.25pm (Gate 4) Teachers will walk all students to their respective gate at the above time. Parents are reminded to socially distance where possible while waiting for their children. 6. The uniform shop will be operating from 9am - 10am; please check in via QR code if attending. 7. The canteen will not be operating again until Monday 8th February (Week 3). See you all tomorrow to start off another fabulous year at MPS!

19.01.2022 NSW School Updates app The NSW School Updates app allows parents and carers to receive operational status updates for NSW public schools. NSW families can now get notified when their school becomes non-operational, wherever they are.... The app will complement the other means of communication available to parents and carers from schools and the Department of Education to ensure families receive timely, accurate information in a crisis. The app is free and available now for iOS and Android users. You can opt in for notifications about the operational status of as many NSW public schools as you choose. Privacy information The app doesn't store any personal or identifiable information. When using the app, it communicates with the department's servers storing a unique identifier for your device; the schools that you wish to receive updates for; and if you've opted into receive push notifications information to send notifications to that device.

16.01.2022 The festive season is synonymous with presents. At MPS we have two of the greatest gifts in Miss Wall and Mrs Kertemiou. This week their outstanding commitment to education was recognised by our Director, Educational Leadership as they were each presented with an award acknowledging their significant and positive impact on student learning outcomes, community connections and wellbeing. We are so very proud of Miss Wall and Mrs Kertemiou and congratulate them both on their wonderful achievements!

08.01.2022 Thank you Bunnings Warehouse Padstow for your generous donation to Menai Public School! Our awesome team of students from K-6 known as the ‘Eco-Heroes’ are working hard to protect the environment by recycling. We wrote to Bunnings to ask if they could provide us with a new compost bin to recycle our fruit from crunch’n’sip. Bunnings kindly donated a buddy bench seat, garden beds, compost bin and all the materials we needed for an amazing new garden area. We cannot wait to... grow all these amazing veggies and get our compost bin up and running. Thank you again for your support Bunnings Warehouse Australia #menaicommunity #thankful

08.01.2022 Tomorrow begins our final week of Term 3. What another big term of learning, laughter and lathering up it has been as we remain COVID free and healthy! As we wind down slowly this week, please continue to follow social distancing guidelines, keep your children home if they are unwell and communicate any absences to the office on 9543 4924. Our team will be working hard to provide a safe and happy conclusion to this school year over the final term; as soon as details are communicated from NSW Health and the DoE around festive events and end of year routines we will share them with you. Take care of yourselves and stay safe over the holiday break. School returns for students and staff on Monday October 12.

05.01.2022 NAIDOC WEEK This week our school participated in NAIDOC Week celebrations. ... NAIDOC Week celebrations are held around the country each July (and in 2020 held in November) to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We were proud to officially open and celebrate our personalised Acknowledgement of Country. This was created in collaboration with leaders, Aboriginal students and Aboriginal Mentors Aunty Calita and Aunty Liv. Our students attended an Aboriginal Workshop where they learnt about artefacts and importance of Country. Always was, Always will be #naidocweek2020 #NAIDOCWeek #alwayswasalwayswillbe
05.01.2022 School Project Update! This week, we were so excited to reveal our school holiday project! Feedback from our students last year led to the design and build of a race car track, so our students can enjoy and play with their matchbox cars while on the playground. It was incredible to see all the smiles and excitement when students saw the new track on the first day back. ... This project was donated by the previous Year 6 graduates. 05.01.2022 Today we celebrated Indigenous Literacy Day! The virtual event was a great way to engage all students in the value of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ first languages. We heard the amazing Jessica Mauboy sing, we were inspired by children’s author Andy Griffiths and met very talented kids from schools all over Australia!
