09.01.2022 The Meniere’s Research Fund has come a long way since this photograph was taken April 2011. This photograph (from top left) shows Professor Bill Gibson, Daniel Brown, Yas Chihara, Stephen Spring, Emeritus Professor Ian Curthoys and major benefactor Bruce Kirkpatrick with family sitting in foreground. Since then, Daniel has published papers confirming Professor Bill Gibson’s original ideas that inner ear membranes do not rupture in Meniere’s vertigo attacks, debunking a long h...eld dogma. Yas was instrumental in translating Japanese research papers and publishing about diabetes and Meniere’s and has returned to Asia. More recently, Daniel developed micro-imaging technology and effects of antigen (immune active agents) introduced in the inner ear. Stephen Spring (himself a former sufferer) has continued to update research and inform about immunity and immunogenetics in Meniere’s, which is now leading the work of European researchers data mining genes and immune processes responsible for endolymphatic hydrops in subsets of large populations. 04.01.2022 It is with sadness we report the passing of Lynn Polson. She was a founder of Meniere’s Support Group Victoria which later merged NSW Meniere’s Support Group to Whirled Australia. Battling through her own health issues, she was an ardent supporter of those with disabilities from vestibular and hearing loss. Stephen Spring - 2 April 2019
