22.01.2022 Twilight sailing: Just letting everyone know that twilight sailing is on again tonight but there will be some additional procedures to follow in ensuring we are covid safe. The weather looks to be about 10 knots and sub 20 degrees so do bring those warmer clothes to keep the core temperatures warm.... We'll see you there! (Ryan)

22.01.2022 What a terrific forecast for today’s sailing, we have come and try this morning that includes children and adults no matter how skilled, then from 1.30pm we have two races, then after racing we have a casual tea for our club Christmas gathering. It’s going to be a fantastic day to end our sailing for 2020, see you there

22.01.2022 This Saturday is the Goolwa to Meningie, the community of Meningie is currently upgrading the town jetty. The construction process is well under way and will affect the ability to use the jetty and lawned area to the north of the Club. This will affect the ability to de-rig boats after the race as a result we are advising people not to park cars and trailers in the area to the north of the club to maximise lawn area for boats to pack up. For those wondering how the jetty is affected check out the clubs webcam to take a look but the end 1/3rd of the jetty is closed to the public. https://tv.ivideon.com/camera/100-BqTr4YTY0NV4AUHunjXtPu/0/ Tim

21.01.2022 What an epic 24hrs we have had weather wise. Twilight sailing tonight (11/11/21) has been called off due to high wind strengths. There is Come and Try sailing on Saturday from 1100-1200 followed by fleet racing at 1330. Tim

21.01.2022 What a terrific forecast we have for tomorrow’s two races from 1.30pm, forecast is southerly between 10 and 15 knots, 25 degrees sunshine with flat water. This forecast suits everyone including the novices that would like to use one of the clubs pacers. We already have a grandfather and grandson team lining up on a pacer, if your kids have been doing the midweek twilight sailing and ask you to sail with them, come and have a sail, there is no more fun that sailing with your kids or against them. The seniors will be zipping around as usual, don’t feel intimidated by them, they will sail around you and most of the time will yell for you to hold your course so everyone gets around having fun. Look forward to seeing you on the water

19.01.2022 Sunday 19th December was terrific with come and try in the morning, then two fleet races in the afternoon. Fleet races are great fun where all the boats race against each other, it does create a bit of chaos at times having big fast cats with experienced racers on board and little mono's with three juniors on board racing the same course but that is the fun of sailing. We had four cats and five mono's and of the nine boats there were seven different types of boats which was t...hrilling to see. It's awesome to see so many kids out there racing, especially to see experienced parents that normally sail bigger boats sailing smaller boats with their kids. We had people that travelled from the Adelaide hills attend come and try with their kids and Kamil brought his Hobie 16 from Adelaide, Robbie brought his Taipan 4.9 from Strathalbyn, Jeff and Liz brought their Nacra 5.8 from Kingston and Ben with his son Calvin from the Adelaide hills on their Viper catamaran. There was plenty of wind to test Calvin's muscles with the spinnaker and I heard that Crouchy with Harry on the 420 dinghy had some fun as well with the spinnaker. There was sunshine, plenty of wind and it was a perfect day to end our sailing for 2020. Meningie Sailing Club wishes you all a safe and merry Christmas and holiday season. We will see you again on the 10th of January for our first sail of the new year, as the F16 Nationals have been postponed and wont be sailed in early January, due to Covid we of course cannot host people from NSW at the moment See more

19.01.2022 Video of racing on Sunday 16th May 2021 it was great mixed class racing https://youtu.be/C6jYmvWeubA

17.01.2022 It is that time of year again. This is one of those bucket list races. Entries are open now and details are on the website here http://www.users.on.net/~meningi/Goolwa%20to%20Meningie.htm There have been some changes to divisions and start times so make sure you check it out even if you plan to enter on the day.

17.01.2022 While the wind played tricks with us on Saturday 14th Nov at Meningie sailing club it was a great day on the water. We started the day with Come and try sailing at 11am with six club Pacers on the water full of kids and their parents sitting on the bank of our beautiful lake, with so much activity and the colourful Pacer sails it looked quite festive. There was great wind for the kids to sail over near the caravan park and back practicing their skills. At midday Come and t...ry stopped with a good number of those kids choosing to stay on and race in the afternoon for the two programmed fleet races. It was terrific to see a Hawke Cat had been purchased to join the Arrow already sailing at the club, we also had four of the Pacers out for racing as well as Jeff in his Hartley TS16, Paul on his A Class, Tim on his Taipan 4.9 and Jeff with Liz on the Nacra 5.8. Racing started in good wind but then it dropped out to virtually nothing by the time we completed one lap of the two lap P course Steve had set, luckily the P course gave us some angles to work with a bit off the wind so we were able to complete the course, well done Ella and Mike on the Pacer taking first place on Handicap and Paul taking line honours. There was no second race but about as soon as it was cancelled the wind came back and the two smaller cats that had been stranded on the course were able to sail back in. There is a big difference between sailing cats and monohulls so there is a fair bit the experienced sailors can gradually pass on, having said that the kids on the smaller cats were having a great time in the water anyway. It was terrific to see the local boats greatly outnumber the visiting boats for the first time I can remember in a long time with only the Nacra from Kingston and A Class from Adelaide the rest being from Meningie. There is no club sailing this weekend, we have our big race the Goolwa to Meningie scheduled see you on the water. See more

16.01.2022 All the details are here.

13.01.2022 What a cracker day to start the Brass Monkey winter series at Meningie Sailing Club on Sunday 16th of May. It was colder and windier than forecast but it looked a lot worse from shore, the westerly wind was very dense and packed a punch above the knot strength. With the clouds going over, wind whistling through the signs we had a couple of boats pull out but once on the water it was more like sailing a normal 15knot plus gusts day, on water that was pretty flat, the wind was ...very stable with no big lulls or gusts that I experienced, I doubt we had a gust over 20 knots while we raced. Ella brought her new to her Pacer but didn’t have an experienced crew so she crewed for Jeff Wright on his Hartley TS16, Mike Woollet raced a Pacer, Tim Wright raced cat rigged on his Taipan 4.9, Mick Maguire raced his Taipan 5.7 without spinacker, Robbie and Harry raced the Taipan 4.9 sloop, Jeff and Liz raced their Nacra 5.8. It was one race of two laps that left everyone pretty tired, with no capsizes or near capsizes with Tim taking the handicap win. Our next Brass Monkey winter series race is on July 11th and Goolwa regatta yacht club have their next winter series race on 30th of May see you on the water See more

13.01.2022 We have the first of the Brass Monkey series races at Meningie sailing club on this Sunday starting at 1.30pm, the forecast is terrific, westerly sea breeze of low teens wind, with sunshine. Meningie sailing club is mixed class racing, all cats, tri’s and monos welcome see you there

13.01.2022 We have our two fleet races this Sunday from 1.30pm, in these races we all do the same start mono hulls and catamarans, it looks like we will have good wind and a warm day, see you there

12.01.2022 The Goolwa to Meningie Sailing Classic 2020 has been officially postponed. Also an updated NOR, SI and Flyer will be completed on the website soon. Tim

10.01.2022 We will keep you updated as we find out more details. Stay safe and look after each other. Tim

09.01.2022 What a top days racing we had at Meningie sailing club on Sunday 8th of November, it was bright sunshine around 25 degrees, wind from the west around 10 knots at the start swinging southerly to around 16 knots with some good gusts nudging the twenty knot mark on dead flat water. With children’s privacy laws it’s a bit tricky naming the kids or putting up close photos, even our photo boat struggled to get pics we can use but we can work around it. To our absolute enjoyment we ...Continue reading

07.01.2022 Our SES have commissioned their new boat, what an awesome bit of kit for these dedicated volunteers to use for the safety of people using our varied waters.

06.01.2022 It was a great day of sailing on Sunday 16th May 2021. Thanks to those who came. It was cold, but not quite as windy as we thought that it may have been. *** Please also note that due to the latest COVID contact tracing requirements EVERY individual who comes to the Meningie Sailing Club has to register their attendance. Either via the SAGov COVID APP or by filling out a separate form for EVERY individual INCLUDING a form for each child -- regardless of their age!. Forms are... available near the front door, and a slotted, red locked box for you to insert these forms is mounted on the wall nearby. Please comply with these rules as one incident could cause us great hardship as a club, and cost each individual a $1,000 fine. Also if we are checked up on via a visit, apparently your app is checked for the last place that you visited, so if you whiz up the street for something you need to re-scan the SAGov COVID APP when returning to the club. If you need clarification on any of these matters, please call the SA COVID-19 information line 1800 253 787 AS A RESULT OF THIS WE HAVE MADE IT A CONDITION OF ENTRY TO THE MENINGIE SAILING CLUB. TO FOLLOW THESE PROCEDURES Thankyou for everyone for complying at sailing yesterday. Let's all stay safe out there!

05.01.2022 Hey guys and girls its only a couple of weeks until the Goolwa to Meningie Race, run by Meningie Sailing Club. This is the most exciting, longest, adventurous o...ff the beach race in Australia and is a must do. the scenery is fantastic looking at the cliffs, the wildlife, across those huge lakes and the racing when your in the same group of boats for seventy kilometres. There is nothing like going through the Narrows between lake Alexandrina and Lake Albert racing through that Narrow creek after racing up the lower end of the Murray River out of Goolwa, cutting across the top of Lake Alexandrina in what feels like ocean waves at times, finding the entrance to the Narrows, changing positions, changing wind direction as you wind through and then getting out onto Lake Albert knowing you just have to get to that far side, that you can't see about 15km away. After the finish line there's hot food, beer and glory for some of the boats, first across the line gets on the Line Honors board that has been running for more than fifty years. This year the above 80 handicap cats are starting with the dinghies, watch out they will be looking to finish first, so the lead low handicap cats will have to push hard after boats they can't even see, while the high handicap cats will keep looking back while they push hard. Hitting the Narrows, threading through the big trailer sailers, desperately overtaking the ones already on Lake Albert will as usual be the awesome part of the race. At presentation we'll find out who did well on handicap and will read out a full list of competitors with their finishing result while tea is served. It would help the club greatly if you could fill in these forms on the link below and save yourself $20 by doing a bank transfer before Friday as we need to help the club get organized with ratios of rescue boats to competitors, the entry fee at $50 is so cheap and the club always makes a fair loss on this race but are happy to keep it going. So far we've all been slack this year but nows the time to get organized. If you are available as crew let us know, if you are looking for crew let us know, if you are struggling with logistics let us know, the Western Australians (WAckers) are trying to organize themselves again now their border has opened and we have a good field of locals that have signaled their intent to race, see you there See more
