25.01.2022 How about another WP Joshy story but this one includes M Firefly and world champion horse helper outerer, Gordon. Gordy, Josh and I were in the yards catching ...a weaned M. Neon Lights (karenza). She was having nothing to do with the process but with dad pinning her against the yard fence, me scratching her neck, Gordy, outside the yard was able to slip the soft ring rope over her head. Josh then did his version of roping horse, stopping the lunges and giving a step as soon as she stood. Very quickly, Gordy was able to come up to Neon and stroke her, but Headstall! No Way. After she barged passed him a couple of times with Joshy wheeling round Gordy keeping his shoulder between them, it was time for plan B. Gordy went off with headstall to catch Firefly, we were working on the theory that if Josh held her against the yard fence (corner) and Gordy backed a just off season Fly under his neck, Neon wouldn;t be able to go anywhere. With me rubbing her neck and Joshy nibbling her withers she stood pretty calmly whilst Fly was positioned. Gordy then turned around on Fly and proceeded to slide along her back until he could reach Neon's head. One problem. Where was the headstall? On Fly of course. So Gordy had to turn around, take the headstall off Fly and recommence his quiet, calm albiet wriggly slide along Fly's back. Neon then decided to put her head through the railings. Gordy, never at a loss locked his boots in Fly's stifles, leaned right out over her bum and gently slipped the headstall onto Neon, did it up, then sat up on Fly's bum (much to the relief of her stifle joints) handed me the lead rope and popped Fly out of the yard. Neither horse, Stallion and his mare, were being restrained in any way. Fly had no gear on and I had dropped Josh's reins so as to be rubbing Neon on both sides of her neck and around her ears. Fabulous work mates, all four. See more

19.01.2022 Hi all horse lovers. In the past I have always said that W.P. Joshua was next to Gordon (son) in being handy with any type of horse handling. Today his soo swee...t daughter M. Gordons Girl got into his paddock, again, R.B. Eyvette was minding her own business on the right side of the fence. Josh was just quietly keeping out of the way up near his dam. I started organising gates, you know, 1 mare out not both mares in, no lead rope etc. Eyvette came down to see how things worked, looking for a chance, Gordons Girl stayed halfway up the fence line. Joshy came cruising down to investigate so I opened the gate to let him into the next paddock. He thought about it. Then he realised that he would be much more use in his paddock so he wheeled round and harried Gordons Girl down towards the gateway, stopping about 25 m's back and watching to see what was needed next. By this time I have Eyvette by the headstall in right hand, electric fence gates in left hand and the steel gates making a v. Eventually GG came down to the gateway and as a horse always will, decided that the grass just there was Fan-Bloody-Tastic Eyvette was trying to turn round, I did not want to get fried, or for her to get fried and jump all over me. Just as I was feeling like A. All hell was about to break loose and B. If I survived GG probably wouldn't, my wonderful. super intelligent stallion, my bestest work pal, pinned his ears back and walked straight towards GG's arse, quiet but determined. She of course zipped round into her paddock, I let Eyvette follow her and put up the electric gate. Josh wandered up to the still open gates to his paddock and stood there, satisfied that he and I together had solved the problem. 23 years together and still he amazes me See more

13.01.2022 Menora Firefly Aura Del Edward x Kanow Janus November 1994 - August 2017.The most beautiful, loving and giving horse I have ever bred. Put down today before imp...action colic could rob her of her dignity and interaction with those who loved her so much. My heartfelt thanks to Karenza, and her beautiful girls who rode, loved and played with Fly right up to her last day. See more

04.01.2022 Must be time for another Joshua story. This one will have a name! Joshua and the Small Cougar Cat. Gordy and I were breaking in M. Bronzewing and having passed ...all her tests with flying colours she was ready for her first ride out of the round yard. We always go straight to the bush "cos paddocks are boring, so Gordy was saddling her up while I was sitting on Joshy, holding her lead and stroking her pretty face. For this potentailly scary time we always have the young horse standing perpendicular to Josh facing his shoulder. Comfort zone with the plus that there is nowhere for the learner to go. Anyway all was going swimmingly, Gordy saddling slowly, gently, then swapping sides, slapping stirrup leathers and checking the girth. Honestly doing things properly takes soo long that I had dropped Joshua's reins and was amusing myself by fiddling with a knot in Bronzy's forelock. Anyway Gordy is ready to mount, in the wonderful way that we all used to be able to, slow, quiet and smooth. He obviously expected some sign of our readiness to save the day if all went west, so I straightened up, took a slightly shorter length on the lead rope and put out my other hand to continue to stroke Bronzewing. Remember I had completely dropped Joshy's reins! Foot into the stirrup and Gordon has smoothly slid up and is just in that position of no return when Joshua stiffened throughout his whole body and threw his head up in alarm but, most importantly our fabulous team member took not one step. What The Hell? As Gordon settled into the saddle with a somewhat odd look on his face he said "Mum, Look behind you" at the same time as a small purring someone rubbed proudly against my back Sure enough our golden Burmese cat got curious, leapt from the ground and managed to catch a pad full of claws on Joshy's hip, then proceed to pull himself up onto his rump leaving tiny little blood spots as he went. Cats always land on their feet and he did even though it was some 20 feet away. Why did Willo Pond Joshua (imp) not move an inch? Because he knew that it was HIS job to stand perfectly still. That was a small part of his place in the team. See more
03.01.2022 Kanow Janus, 3/4 arabian-1/4 welsh dam of M. Firefly and to Joshua M. Wildfire. This 13.3 hand unbelievable endurance horse winning everything from flat 50 mile...rs to incredibly hilly 100 m State Champs. Then into the dam with a bar of velvet soap to win classes at arabian shows when pinto's just were not IN!. Older endurance riders will remember this pocket size butter ball who trotted her way to win after win with incredible recoveries. The drop dead gorgeous black stallion Aura Del Edward is the sire of Firefly, whose looks were only equalled by his temperament. Photo taken in the Flemington Rose garden at our first ever Expo.
