25.01.2022 Mensa International has a monthly magazine for the more than 140,000 registered members worldwide. The November issue of the Mensa World Journal congratulates Mensa Taiwan for achieving provisional status and for being on their way to become a full National Mensa.

22.01.2022 Build your own garden chessboard. It is very easy and relatively inexpensive using supplies from your local hardware store. It is like building a shallow sandpit. We created a square frame (1.62m x 1.62m inside dimensions) using cypress posts, filled it with paving sand, then placed concrete pavers. We sourced a plastic chess set online (40cm height for King), it costs ~$400, but you can also use small plastic buckets instead... We chose to build around a merbau deck to mat...ch the existing deck (make sure to account for the extra height). We also purchased a merbau bench/storage box and placed inside two plastic storage containers for the chess pieces. - 32 cream concrete pavers 200x200x4 ($1.50 each) - 32 grey concrete pavers 200x200x4 ($1.50 each) - 8m of 100x100 cypress posts (usually $35 per 2.4m post) - stainless steel timber joiners and screws - several bags of landscape paving sand ($8 per 20kg bag) To join us, see www.mensa.org.au

09.01.2022 Congratulations to our Young Mensans! Team Mensa won second place in the CyberTaipan 2020 competition against 113 teams nationwide. CyberTaipan is an Australian cybersecurity competition for students between 12-18 years old. ... Team Mensa was one of the youngest teams in this competition, with students between 13 and 15 years old. We had the most geographically diverse team, with 5 students from NT, WA, and NSW, mentors from QLD, NSW, SA, and our National Gifted Children Coordinator coaching from the ACT. During this 18-month training, our two girls and three boys have built a strong and diverse team and learnt something new. #csirodigitalcareers #teammensa #austcyber https://digitalcareers.csiro.au/en/CTaipan

07.01.2022 Another clear night, no traffic in Melbourne means little air pollution. Still playing with our 70mm telescope, and we are getting there with Jupiter. The photo is not as clear as what we can see, we will have to try later different camera apps. Anyway, here they are: Ganymede, Callisto, Io, Europa. We used an app to work out which moon is which, we hope we got it right.

04.01.2022 You do not need expensive equipment to take amazing pictures of the night sky. Tonight was a very clear night in Melbourne. We used a $120 refractor telescope and a $15 smart phone adaptor. We were able for the first time to capture pictures of the rings of Saturn. The Moon was pretty good too.
