17.01.2022 Today we celebrate Trinity Sunday. The Trinity is a relationship of three fully distinct yet intimately linked Persons: God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Sp...irit. Each one exists in relationship to the other and each one is fully God. Within the Trinity there exists absolute unity and love, and it is to this model of love, oneness and life that we are called as a community of faith on earth. And as St Paul says in today's second reading: baptised in the Spirit, we have become the 'heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, sharing his sufferings so as to share his glory' (Romans 8:17). Join us today for the 11am Mass at St Patrick's Cathedral, livestreamed on our Archdiocesan YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/archmelb) and televised on C31 (channel 44 on digital TV).

15.01.2022 It is with great joy that we share the news of Pope Francis’ appointment of new Auxiliary Bishops for the Archdiocese of Melbourne Monsignor Anthony Ireland a...nd Fr Martin Ashe. Archbishop Peter A Comensoli has expressed his delight at the appointment of these two men of deep prayer and service: 'On behalf of God’s faithful of Melbourne, I am delighted with this great news, and am deeply grateful to the Holy Father for these gifts to our Archdiocese. Each of these fine priests have made valuable contributions to the life of the local Church; each know this Archdiocese well and have a wide experience of dedicated ministry; and each will bring unique skills and missionary energy to our local communities of faith. They are men of deep prayer and service with hearts for those in need and a passion to share and live the Gospel amongst God’s people.' Let us keep both Monsignor Ireland and Fr Ashe in our prayers as they begin this new path in their ministerial lives. Deo Gratias! 13.01.2022 You did not choose me, but I chose you (John 15:16). I truly believe that Our Lord has called each one of us to do something remarkable for Him with our live...s. My name is James Baptist. I was born and bred in Melbourne, growing up in Bentleigh along with my greatest allymy big sister. From a young age I was able to witness true faith in action by the great examples of my wonderful Mum, and my Nana and Papa. I loved attending Mass, altar serving for my Irish parish priest and learning about my Catholic faith, although I never considered the priesthood at that time. However, there were a few ‘sign posts’ along the way, such as some holy nuns saying that they were praying for me to be a priest! My own beloved Papa also thought that I ‘might have a vocation’ from a young age, although he never mentioned it to me until after I had felt the call myself, so as to allow it to come from God alone. But this call would not become clear until the time of World Youth Day in Sydney, 2008. I was blessed to attend and was inspired by witnessing the universal Church, as well as the amazing priests and seminarians who were present, many of whom are now good friends. From that point onward I have never doubted God’s call, which grew stronger as I prayed and spent time asking Him to show me His Divine Will. I am humbled at the thought of that to which God has called me. The road has been very challenging at times, but Our Lord and His Blessed Mother have always been by my side. The words of Pope St. John Paul the Great spoken to young people come to mind: Remember: Christ is calling you; the Church needs you; the Pope believes in you and he expects great things of you! Please continue to pray for holy vocations, especially to the Priesthood, that Our Lord will raise up many to be the saints and superheroes of His Church. Please pledge a prayer for Rev. James Baptist at www.pledgetopray.com.au ORDINATION MASS: Saturday, 10:30AM 5 December 2020 St Patrick’s Cathedral
