25.01.2022 This Thursday is R U OK?Day. The focus this year is on what to say if the answer is "no". Below are details to a webinar on this topic at 1pm on Thursday.

25.01.2022 We've reached the last day of what has certainly been an interesting term! -today is pyjama and hot chocolate day with all gold coin donations going to State Schools' Relief (please BYO a mug for your hot chocolate) -early dismissal for all students (please check yesterday's newsletter for times)... -today we farewell our wonderful business manager Lee Jenkins. Thank you for your amazing contributions to MCPS over the past 20 years. We wish you all the best for your retirement. -thank you so much to all families for their support and encouragement this term. We are so grateful for our brilliant MCPS community!

24.01.2022 It's World Kindness Day today! What can you do to make kindness the norm? Just a cup of coffee, opening a door, a compliment or a smile, can make a huge difference for someone else. ... What will you do today for someone else?

24.01.2022 With the news that masks no longer have to be worn outdoors, our School Crossing Supervisor Philip will be returning to the use of his whistle. Remember you must wait behind the white line until you hear 2 blasts of the whistle, at which time you can safely cross the road. If the school crossing is in operation you must not cross the road in other places. This applies to adults too!

24.01.2022 Book Week celebrations in Plot to Pot today! We read Julia Donaldson's The Gruffalo (which many students knew off by heart) and baked Gruffalo Crumbles. We also planted lots of seeds and prepared more of our veggie gardens for spring and summer fruit and vegetables.

23.01.2022 Due to the State of Disaster that has been declared by the Victorian Premier, ALL school staff will be working from home from today, except for those supervising onsite learners. Unfortunately, this means that there will be days and times when the office is unattended. We ask that if you need to contact the school, please email us at [email protected], rather than phone the office. If you have a query specifically about your child's online learning program..., we ask that you email your child's teacher directly via the Compass Parent Portal. If you are having difficulty accessing the Compass Parent Portal and / or need your password reset, please email Kate via the school's email address above. Please remember that we are happy to help in any way we can, and are only an email away!

23.01.2022 At MCPS we are proud to be beginning our journey of implementing the Respectful Relationships program this year to promote and model respect and equality. This October, we are proudly supporting Polished Man. This very important initiative raises awareness and money to end violence against children. The male staff at our school will be painting a nail this month to promote the cause and raise funds. Donations allow for trauma recovery and trauma prevention for children arou...nd the world. Help create a world where no child suffers from violence by donating to our Men of Menzies team here: https://my.polishedman.com/men-of-menzies

23.01.2022 One more sleep! We are so happy to be welcoming our students back to onsite learning tomorrow! Make sure you check Compass for details of staggered start and finish times. You will also need to make sure you have a drink bottle (drinking taps are turned off) and a hat as SunSmart hat policy has started. If you borrowed a device from school it will need to be returned along with tubs, pencils cases, library books etc. Once again, thank you so much to the wonderful Menzies families that have been so supportive and have done an absolutely brilliant job at supporting their children's learning and wellbeing during a challenging time. The staff are also very grateful for all the emails and phone calls of support, encouragement and gratitude we received during Remote Learning. We really do have a wonderful community.

23.01.2022 Please investigate joining Harper's Army, a group created to honour the legacy of a local boy who tragically lost his life last year. He was an inspirational eco warrior & young leader! #harpersarmy

They are being hosted by King's School in Sydney (TONIGHT!) , John Curtin College of the Arts in Perth, St Michael's Grammar in St Kilda, and Essendon North Primary - but can be watched by anyone in that time zone. These are the same films that were screened on Virgin Airlines last year, which got rave reviews from business travellers especially. Because of scammers currently raiding all providers of parenting education, please only enrol from our own website - www.stevebiddulph.com These will be the last shows for the year. 16.01.2022 Welcome to Remote Learning 2.0! We really wish we were welcoming you all back to Term 3 in person! Thank you to all the families that made the effort to attend our Webex parent-teacher-student conferences yesterday. It was very valuable to reconnect with families and reset goals and expectations for the remainder of the school year. As teachers it was really lovely to hear from the students about their learning! For most of the community it's back to Google Classroom from hom...e today. Please take the time to have a look at the changes in the way work is being delivered and familiarise yourself with the content being covered for your child's year level. For those students that need to learn on site, they will be greeted at the gate and then will move down to the Junior Building where they will have their temperature taken and wash/sanitise their hands. Some of our lovely ES staff spent time yesterday creating a space for each of these students with their books, pencils, iPad, headphones etc. Thank you to the Menzies community for the overwhelming support and positivity. It's not an ideal situation but we will again just do our best and work together to get through it.
