25.01.2022 After the highs of yesterday it was hard not to have high expectations for today! We needn't of worried as today was even better than yesterday with even more whales sighted feeding! Feeding events like this do not happen often and when they do they often leave us speechless! Again the raw energy was palpable and it was hard to know where to look. We are feeling very blessed to have been able to witness such an incredible natural wonder. Who knows how long they will stay on the Sapphire Coast but it is a timely reminder of how important it is to look after our oceans. They are home to so many wonderful and majestic animals. It was definitely another afternoon to remember! Book your whale adventure direct www.merimbulamarina.com or give us a bell (02) 6495 1686

25.01.2022 After a few days of cruisey whales it was great this morning to find a couple of playful ones! They put a smile back on our photographer's faces We found four pods of mothers and calves off Leonards Island and followed them back down to Eden. Happy Days Next Trip: Thursday 10:00am Departing Eden Wharf... Book online www.merimbulamarina.com or give us a call (02) 6495 1686

25.01.2022 It was great to be back on the water today! The swell over the past few days has shifted a lot of sand onto the Merimbula Sandbar which has made it very shallow, so trips today departed from Eden. We found and followed mothers and calves on both our morning and sunset tours. Some great action from the calves, particularly on the sunset tour with a gorgeous airborne calf! It truly is amazing the shapes that the calves twist themselves into when they are learning to breach - lo...ve it Next Trips: Friday 10:00am & 1:00pm Trips over the next couple of days will depart from Eden Wharf. With good numbers of mothers and calves still coming down the coast book your whale adventure online www.merimbulamarina.com or phone (02) 6495 1686

24.01.2022 This morning True Blue headed out at sunrise for a private charter and we did not have to wait long to find whales. Again we found lots of whales all milling around, feeding and pec slapping. A few came over to check us out and spy hop next to the boat. This afternoon we headed back out for a sunset whale watch and again it was hard to know in which direct to look. The whales sure seem to be enjoying the waters off Merimbula at the moment and they don't look like they are in any hurry to head south! We will have daily tours departing through to late November. 23.01.2022 We are just loving the active little calves off Eden at the moment! Here is some video from last Thursday - Enjoy! Next Trips: Monday 10:00am and 1:00pm Departing Eden Wharf Book online or phone (02) 6495 1686

23.01.2022 It was great to find a humpback mother and calf down south off Leatherjacket Bay this morning. They were taking advantage of the north easterly conditions and cruising south quietly. A large pod of common dolphins escorted us back in across Twofold Bay and was a fun way to end the morning! Next Tour: Tuesday 10:00am Departing Eden Wharf... Book online www.merimbulamarina.com or call us (02) 6495 1686

22.01.2022 Well it seems that summer is finally here on the Sapphire Coast! We have been enjoying fishing and running our Coastal Discovery Cruises from Eden for the past few weeks. On Friday the Bottlenose dolphins even escorted True Blue all the way back to the wharf! Just thought we would share them to bring a smile to your face

21.01.2022 It was great to be back on the water today after cancelling tours due to swell on the sandbar on Thursday. It was a big Friday for us - our early morning tour from Merimbula sighted several mothers and calves. Both boats then headed south to Eden where we operated three afternoon tours. Again several mother and calf pods, dolphins and an interesting young whale with a deformed head put on quite the breaching show on the last tour! Beautiful sunny conditions made for a great day on the water. Next Tours: Saturday 6:30am & 8:30am Book your whale adventure online www.merimbulamarina.com or give us a call (02) 6495 1686

20.01.2022 Hope you are all keeping well! It has been a while since our last post so thought we would give you a quick update on what we have been up to over the past weeks. As many of you know the Merimbula Sandbar has been very shallow for over a year now. In October an east coast low deposited a large volume of sand on the Bar and changed the shape. The result was that it became too shallow for us to safely cross - even at high tide. We finished off the whale season from Eden. We ha...d hoped that it might have improved but in the weeks since it has probably become even shallower! Beautiful for photos but not for boat crossings Photos are from today and as you can see not much water over the sand! Simon has been crossing this sandbar for over 17 years now and has never seen it shaped like this or so shallow. We have spent the past few weeks trying to work out the best way forward for our business. 2020 has been the year of the unexpected and has taught us to be flexible and adapt! So a few changes for us coming in 2021! Merimbula Marina will become Sapphire Coastal Adventures. New website, new logo, new signage and marketing. True Blue has moved to Bermagui - we are super excited to explore this beautiful region and will be running tours to the amazing Montague Island. Expect lots of amazing seal photos in the coming weeks! More coming soon on our summer tours.... Bubbles will remain in Sydney year round and we have been busy these past weeks with lots of Christmas parties and Private Harbour Cruises. We have also purchased a new 15meter, shallow draft, 50pax RIB, ‘Extreme.’ She is being painted at the moment and waiting for her engines to arrive in the country (shipping delays!). We plan to launch her in time for the 2021 Whale Watching Season. She will hopefully operate tours around the high tide from Merimbula. So a few changes coming in 2021 - just to keep life interesting We are really excited to start running tours from beautiful Bermagui. If you have never visited or haven’t been there for a while it is an amazing place to visit - lots of great beaches, shops and cafes, friendly people and some spectacular landscapes to explore and photograph. We will keep you posted .... Take Care xx

19.01.2022 Imagine being surrounded by large adult humpback whales .... well that is what happened on both our afternoon trips today. The sounds, the smells, the energy as the whales are feeding is really quite amazing. It is hard to know where to look and even harder to know where to point the camera! Lots of fun! Next Tours: Monday 2:30pm & 4:30pm Book your whale adventure online www.merimbulamarina.com or give us a call (02) 6495 1686

19.01.2022 We thought being surrounded by whales was awesome but then a playful whale breached right in front of us and the trip took on a whole new level of excitement! This afternoon we were again treated to the spectacle of so many whales off Haycock, breaching, tail and pec slapping. One youngster caught our attention and breached repeatedly over 40 times! The trip was topped off with a spectacular sunset over the hills. We will have daily tours departing through to late November. 18.01.2022 It has been over a week since our whale season ended and not sure about you but we are already missing the whales So thought we would share some video footage that didn’t make it to Facebook - the photos on the day were so spectacular that we shared them It is always a privilege to be watching when mum and calf are playing together. Lesson on the day was tail slapping and mum sure has a magnificent tail Have a wonderful Sunday.

16.01.2022 What a day! Awesome morning and action packed afternoon. With over 60 whales sighted off Merimbula this morning these two captured our attention. 14.01.2022 It was cold and it was windy- but at least the sun was shining and there were whales! We found a mother and calf cruising quietly south today on both our tours. No acrobatics but it is always special to see a mother and new season calf. We really did not know what to expect this season, without our Victorian regulars but have been encouraged by the number of locals who have come whale watching with us! We have made many new friends and connected with old ones.... The love of the ocean and the joy that whales bring has been a highlight for many people in an otherwise very challenging year. There is something very special about being out on the ocean and connecting with our whale friends - thankyou to you all for making this possible.
