23.01.2022 We woke this morning to very dramatic footage of a catastrophic explosion in Beirut, Lebanon. News is now starting to surface that many of those killed were fir...efighters from the surrounding area who were dealing with the initial fire- which lead to the explosion. As a department with Lebanese emigrants currently working today in stations across NSW we keep these firefighters as well as their city and their country in our thoughts. See more

11.01.2022 DONT USE ILLEGAL FIREWORKS: Make your own fireworks with that special someone this NYE! We have enough actual fire already. From Fire and Rescue NSW Bushfire ...Section: A total fire ban is in place for New Years Eve and the penalties for disobeying them are severe: $2,200 on the spot fine; if the matter goes to court a fine of up to $5,500 and/or 12 months gaol; and if a fire that escapes and damages and destroys life, property or the environment can attract fines up to $132,000 and/or 14 years gaol.

09.01.2022 Here comes the heat....... Temps of 43C and north westerly winds will see a SEVERE fire danger rating and a TOTAL FIRE BAN across the Hunter for Tuesday 10th Dec.

07.01.2022 Tomorrow Friday 15th November, fire danger rating has been increased from high to SEVERE condition. As a result, there is a Total Fire Ban in place across the Hunter from Midnight Tonight untill 11:59pm Tomorrow Night. This Means No Fires in the open for cooking or camping. No Welding or grinding to be done outdoors... No barbecues using solid fuel such as wood, charcoal or heat beads. No lighting of fires in the open If you see a fire please report it to Triple Zero (000) Immediately.



05.01.2022 The statewide total fire ban is now in force and has been extended until midnight Wednesday 13 November. That means no fires out in the open anywhere in NSW. Very dangerous conditions are forecast for today. #nswrfs #nswfires

03.01.2022 In preparation for today’s forecast catastrophic weather conditions, Fire & Rescue NSW Merriwa & Merriwa River RFS are out and about today completing routine hydrant checks and triple checking our gear and equipment so we are ready to respond if an event were to occur. . We want to assure the community that we are only taking precautionary measures and to not be alarmed. 01.01.2022 Currently a state wide TOTAL FIRE BAN has been emplaced on Monday the 11th extending to today the 12th of novemeber. A total fire ban means no fires out in the open. A total fire ban helps limit the potential of fires developing. During a Total Fire Ban you cannot light, maintain or use a fire in the open, or to carry out any activity in the open that causes, or is likely to cause, a fire. General purpose hot works (such as welding, grinding or gas cutting or any activity tha...t produces a spark or flame) are not to be done in the open.
