25.01.2022 Racing today at Cootamundra Turf Club in race 4 is Swilling. Not one of our graduates but her dam Lambrays is a resident here. Lambrays has a 2017 unnamed filly by Bullet Train that graduated MCT and is currently in race preparation with Mick Kent Racing Stables. Her 2019 Bel Esprit colt is currently here, and this season she produced a lovely filly by Foxwedge. She is returning to Foxwedge this year.

We purchased Lambrays after Swilling was born and she is not a MCT graduate. Lambrays’ first homebred is Bonta, a 3yo Bullet Train filly trained by Mick Kent Racing Stables. 17.01.2022 THROWBACK THURSDAY Geoffrey and Kay Ritchie of Mansfields Delatite Station bred horses their entire lives. They even had a runner in the 1987 Melbourne Cup, Pekamagess. Kay sent us her mare Delatite Miss to be covered by King of Prussia, the foal was Delatite Csar. He was prepped here and trained by Gerald Egan in Mansfield. 13.01.2022 THROWBACK THURSDAY Each week we will be digging into the archives to share a piece of our history, or a winning race of one of our MCT graduates so you can get to know us a little better. With Leale coming back for a spell this week we thought it was fitting to start with her maiden win at Yarra Valley. Leale started her racing career as a 2yo back in 2018 and on January 25 this year she finally broke her maiden. With Ethan Brown on board and an increased distance of 1514m,... Leale won by an extraordinary 13 lengths. Leale was bred by Christos Zintilis and Coral Jacobson in Nagambie and we purchased her along with her mother Sucessfully at an Inglis auction when she was 4 weeks old. We are very excited to see what the future holds for Leale and her connections.

11.01.2022 Last week we stopped by Rosemont Stud with Lambrays for a walk out with Nostradamus. Lambrays is sired by Red Ransom (USA). Her full sister Cinque, is the second-dam of the Nostradamus sired Tinker McPhee. Tinker placed fourth in the group 1 New Zealand Guineas over the weekend, she’s now on her way to Sydney for some black-type runs.

11.01.2022 Thank you Graeme Loader for sharing this footage of Capito enjoying himself at Balnarring Beach this week. Capito is by Street Boss (USA), and was the first foal out of the mare Amaal. He was bred and prepped here at MCT and purchased by Graeme at the 2018 Inglis Vobis Gold Yearling Sale. 08.01.2022 THROWBACK THURSDAY Pina (Reset / Estrela Flicka NZ) was foaled, weaned and prepared as a yearling at MCT for her owner Dr. Dawn Giltinan. Pina was later sold to the very astute bloodstock buyer, Graham Loader. She is now raced by owners Graham, Dawn and Mick Kent and trained by Mick Kent Racing Stables. Pina, at debut, won her maiden in extraordinary style at Yarra Valley last year. She was the back marker until the home turn, travelling around 4 wide, with an exceptional ...turn of foot she put the field behind her. Pina will running in race 1 at Caulfield this Saturday the 15th August. We wish the owners and the Kent racing team every success.

08.01.2022 THROWBACK THURSDAY In 2011 a MCT resident mare called Uptown, foaled a bay colt by the champion Holy Roman Emperor (IRE) standing at Coolmore Australia, he later became known as Setinum. Setinum was prepped by us as a yearling and was sold at Magic Millions in Adelaide by Salamander Park as we werent attending with a draft. Setinum was purchased and traned by Shane Fliedner of Fliedners Racing in Bendigo for just $17,000. He ran second in his first maiden before winning ...his second maiden two weeks later at Seymour as a 3yo. After two unplaced starts at Flemington and Caulfield he returned to his home track of Bendigo and won the Bendigo Guineas. He ran third in the Super Vobis 3yo Handicap at Flemington before winning the Regal Roller Stakes at Caulfield. He had an unsuccessful run in the group 1 2015 Memsie Stakes at Caulfield and didnt place again until he ran second in the 2018 Mildura Cup. He was retired later that year. See more

08.01.2022 Spring has arrived and so has our first foal for the season! This little filly is with her MCT owned dam Aringarosa (Snippets), and she is sired by Swear (Redoutes Choice) who stands at Spendthrift Australia. This fillys 2018 full sister made $55,000 at the March Inglis sales and will be available for purchase at the 2020 Ready 2 Race sale in October. Aringarosas progeny have made it as far as South Africa with her son Diamond Brilliant currently racing in Hong Kong with close to HKD $2.8 million prize money.

This is the progress video of the Testa Rossa/Picked In Faith filly, shes calm and taking it all in her stride. 06.01.2022 THROWBACK THURSDAY Travail by Reward for Effort, out of Dawn Giltinans mare Jomar Star. She was born and prepped as a yearling here at MCT. Bendigo trainer Shane Fliedner of Fliedners Racing purchased Travail at the 2018 Inglis Melbourne Vobis Gold Yearling Sale and he won his 3yo maiden at Wangaratta Turf Club in January. Shane also purchased another of our Jamar Star colts, this time by Stryker, at the 2019 Melbourne Gold Yearling Sale. This gelding, Air Defence has been prepped and is about to commence his racing career after a nice run at his July jump out. Travail has returned from a spell and both horses have been nominated to run next week. We wish Shane and his connections the best of luck with both horses when they hit the track.

06.01.2022 THROWBACK THURSDAY Brilliant Concept (Star Witness/New Style) wasn’t born at MCT but was purchased as a weanling by one of our top clients, Dawn Giltinan. We had the pleasure of preparing him before he was ready to commence his racing career with trainer Matthew Williams Racing He broke his maiden in July last year and has won another four races since. In May he won the Ballarat Turf Club at Sportsbet-Ballarat Hygain Winner’s Choice BM64 by 2.8 lengths and followed up with a ...win at Sandown Racecourse in the Ladbrokes.com.au Switch Handicap. He returned from a spell to race at Ballarat yesterday and finished 5th but we have a feeling he’s just warming up. Keep an eye on the page to catch his next win.

05.01.2022 Catalina de Lago x Bolt D’Oro filly cont... Catalina de Lago is not a large mare but the resulting filly has definitely taken on the traits of her Sire. She is a tall filly with good bone and substance. Keep your eyes out for this one, she’ll be one to watch and we’re excited to see how she develops. Excellent stallion choice by the staff at Spendthrift Australia Bolt D’Oro is a shuttle stallion from USA by Medaglia d’Oro. He had four wins from eight starts including a G1 win second start. He retired from racing as a 3yo for a new career at stud, 2019 being his first year standing.

04.01.2022 THROWBACK THURSDAY Kentucky Tsar is by Churchill Downs out of the King Of Prussia mare, Warn Brandow. He was one of the first foals bred and owned by MCT, born on the farm in 2010. After he was prepped here as a yearling he was sold and trained by Alan Fitzgerald of Fitzgerald Racing in Wangaratta. He won his maiden at the historic Towong Racecourse in 2015 and returned to us when he retired from the track in 2016. Kentucky Tsar has become a highly valued staff member here at MCT. Hes a great coach and after loving his swimming sessions at Alans stables, he now gives other horses confidence and direction during their first creek crossing here on the farm. Despite being gelded he is also used as a teaser for the mares here during breeding season.

03.01.2022 Prior to foaling one of our mares had run milk for 4 days, unfortunately this led to a loss of colostrum. Colostrum is important as it carries the all important antibodies for the foal’s early immunity. Unlike humans, foals don’t receive any antibodies from the placenta prior to birth. In order to establish adequate immunity in this foal, it was necessary to perform a plasma transfer. Thankyou Dr. Jack of Mansfield Veterinary Clinic and our foaling manager Neil.
