This brought tears to my eyes. This what I wake up for evey single day, to help and support my clients through their health and wellness journeys. Thank you @wanjohi_maitho for these kind words. "I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in late 2014 at the age of 29. Since then, I have tried a couple of diets and fitness regimes in an attempt to get healthy and manage my diabetes. Most plans have been too hard to sustain for more than a month. It’s been tough keeping my sugar levels consistently low. In 2019, I got to hear of Shelina and the Metabolic Balance program through a friend of mine and got interested. In March 2020, I finally decided to call up Shelina and we embarked on what seemed at the time an impossible journey to get healthy and fit. When I mentioned my objective to lose 20kgs, I was amazed at how Shelina was not at all shocked. After doing some test (some of which came back with scary results), Shelina made a plan and on May 27th 2020, I began the journey. Incredibly, it wasn’t hard at all to get through, and after the first 2 days (preparation phase), I was able to continue with the plan without any interruptions to my normal life. I eat a balanced diet and I don’t feel hungry at any point. I have even come to love eating some things I never tried before. 3.5 months later and 20kgs gone with the wind, I feel way much better. My sugar levels a well controlled, my energy levels are amazing and I generally feel more alive! Shelina continues to support me as I get into the maintenance phase and normalize my new amazing way of living. FYI Shelina was able to guide me through my plan on phone due to the COVID situation! I was having a hard time juggling the balls that life in a pandemic had made larger & heavier. ... I had been studiously ignoring that I wasn't happy or healthy for a long time. I'd been trying for 4 years to get rid of the 'stress baby' around my middle. In my 40s, the things I'd done before weren't working for me now. There was also a huge amount of self-criticism & shame around being a 'fat naturopath' & not modelling the excellent health I seek for my clients. While feeling all these things, I was also burdened by the conflict of remaining body positive, while acknowledging my body size & shape wasn't serving my mental or physical health. My body has carried me through a lot. Chronic long-term stress & trauma of nearly 10 years, while creating 4 humans, birthing & breastfeeding for over 12 years. Just when I thought it was over...more than 6 months of lock downs & pandemic life. My body was tired. I was mentally exhausted. 07.01.2022 We often hear about increased life expectancy in our society which makes many people think all is well, modern medicine will save them when they need it and they'll easily live to a ripe old age! The thing to think about though is your quality of life span. By this we are talking about the time you have in good health with great quality of life. I.e. how much life do you have in your years of life? Feeling healthy, vibrant and energised throughout life and into old age is go...od life quality and is what we all want. This isn't the reality though for so many people. They are instead dependent on medications, medical interventions and suffering the consequences of lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, many cancers and heart disease. So living to 85 but the last 25 years of your life is suffering slow, steady decline and infirmity with pain, discomfort and popping multiple pills is not that great to us. It's never too early or too late to make lifestyle changes to improve your quality of life and expand your healthy life span. Every day your food and lifestyle choices dictate how you feel, how your body works and how your future health could be.
