18.01.2022 Live music in NSW is under threat. Unless there is immediate government intervention, we risk losing 85% of the state’s live music venues within the next 12 months. 12.01.2022 The Liquor Amendment (Night Time Economy) Bill has passed the Parliament! The Bill now includes 63 amendments which drastically reshape the legal and regulatory landscape for entertainment in NSW. Entertainment conditions which will cease to have effect include:... conditions that restricts decorations, including mirror balls bans on live music restrictions on the genre of music that may be played restrictions on the number of musicians that can take the stage restrictions on the type of instruments that may be played conditions that require cover bands conditions where the band has to face a certain direction Yes, all of these (including the mirror ball) existed! Labor was able to work with the Government amend this Bill. Shout out to John Graham and Sophie Cotsis for their efforts on this! Newcastle Live Music Taskforce

03.01.2022 Artists and venues owners impacted by COVID-19 can now apply for Federal Government funding under three new grants programs. The Live Music fund is designed to assist venues such as pubs and clubs to host live Australian music, closing date September 13 2020. The RISE fund is designed to assist the staging of events through the COVID-19 recovery, rolling applications open until 31 May 2021.... The COVID-19 Arts Sustainability Fund is meant for organisations that already have some funding relationship with the Department or Australia Council with insolvency issues caused by COVID-19, rolling applications open until 31 May 2021 For more information go to https://www.arts.gov.au/funding-and-support
