18.01.2022 Thanks to everyone that has liked my page. Metafit is a 30 minute, HIIT (High intensity interval training) style of workout. I personally have never done anything as tough as what was needed to get my certification. It's a great way of fitting your workouts into a short space of time and walking away knowing you've given it everything. I'll still be continuing with my regular classes but I know there are a lot of you out there (both males AND females) that will love this typ...e of training. If you, or someone else you know is interested you are welcome to come along to a complimentary first session. 7.30pm sessions are open to both males and females from the age of 14+. 14.01.2022 Another great explanation from the Metafit Founder of why there is no wasting time in the sessions: NO CRUNCHES IN METAFIT. WE KEEP IT HIIT Metafit is a 16-25 minute workout that stays true to actual HIIT principles. During work short work intervals (15-30 seconds) clients work big muscles groups functionally to get their heart rate above 85% of its max. Anything below 85% will NOT be HIIT. ... The abdominals assist in the breathing process as accessory muscles of respiration and serve as protection for the inner organs. They also, together with the back muscles they provide postural support and are important in defining form. Adding crunches/ sit ups into a HIIT workout will 1. Fatigue the abdominals leading to poor form and increased risk of injury. 2. Decrease the heart rate. 3. Use very small muscles. Not Metabolic. Metafit workouts do include some isometric hold/ core movements. The main purpose of these is to actively recover between intense work intervals. However, we will NEVER isolate a muscle group. Remember, the bigger the muscle, more the range or depth, the greater the result. Adding crunches/ sits up into a HIIT specific program is ineffective and poor (increased risk) programming. We program/ format Metafit workouts the way we do for a reason. If science told us it was better to add crunches/ sit ups into our workouts we would have started doing so long ago...but it doesn't, so we don't! Same goes for longer workouts, adding weights etc. Metafit is a standalone bodyweight only HIIT workout and that's the way we like it. The original and the best.
