08.01.2022 Div 1 best and fairest Ray from Balga Football Club

07.01.2022 HOT OFF THE PRESS - Examiner Newspapers: Finals Week 1 BULLDOGS S...MASH BOMBERS: LEAGUE 2ND SEMI FINAL: What a turn around, the last time these two teams met, the BALGA BOMBERS beat the BULLDOGS by 17 Points. It was the DOGS that flew high and raided the BALGA camp and the football flew all over the field with the DOGS switching play and crossing the ground leaving the BOMBERS in their slipstream. The astute coaching of Captain Coach Ray Witt with his Co pilot Andrew Roberts manoeuvred the players to work their way to a big comfortable win, ready for next weeks GRAND FINAL. Young Kyle Collard & snappy Wesley Thorne took full advantage of the forward moves bagging 4 apiece, Brayden Thorne continued with his clever work with 3, Clinton Wilkes relished the opportunity to play league of the half forward (2 goals) and the goals where shared by eight other BULLDOGS kicking 1 each; Mal Yarran, Neil Krakouer, Owen Dann, Trent Bennell, a good overall performance by Andrew Mchenry, William Walley, James Thorne & Avon Garlett. The BULLDOGS came out of the Kennel ready to play, especially by Owen Dann & Brad Carr, and well they did scoring a 129 point win snapping the wings of the BOMBERS, 21.16 (142) to 1.7 (8). RESERVES 2ND SEMI FINAL: It was the game of the day with the two top teams the WARWICK GREENWOOD BULLS battling it out with the KELMSCOTT BULLDOGS. At half time the bulls went into the change room leading 9.4 to 6.5. Coach Reece Wardlow put the pressure on all players to stand up and what a cracking third quarter. Mal Yarran was unstoppable gathering the football all over the oval, Billy Hansen was holding all his marks and drove the ball deep to the evergreen Shaye Hayden with Graeme Wilton fighting for the ball on the ground and giving it out to the BULLDOG runners. At the main break the BULLS where caught in the paddock with the DOGS leading by a slim one point, 10.6 to 10.5. Someone opened the gate for the BULLS & the Top side got up at the Final siren after a very good game of football to win by 14 points, 14.8 to 12.6. KELMSCOTT players that scored for the BULLDOGS where Corey Bertram with three followed by Graeme Wilton, Malcolm Yarran & Shaye Hayden 2 each, Basil Thorne soared through the air to take one of the marks of the year finishing with a gaol as well as Thomas Sheppard & Billy Hansen. This Sunday at JOHN DUNN MEMORIAL PARK, KELMSCOTT will host the PRELIMINARY FINALS.
