25.01.2022 On a day like Valentine's Day it's easy to let society dictate our emotions and create a sense of loneliness. The key is to continue to or start loving yourself and those around you. That love always finds a way to come back.
24.01.2022 Not feeling appreciated or noticed can lead to a sense of emptiness and discontent. Show the people around you that they matter #StartWithASmile
23.01.2022 With Mental Health Month just around the corner, we will be sharing 10 tips to stress less! A fantastic mental health initiative by WayAhead - Mental Health Association NSW Here's Tip 1! our breath is a content in our lives, with it often changing in duration and intensity reflecting our mental state. 22.01.2022 It's always great to see high profile individuals speak out on mental health.
20.01.2022 Communication is vital in all relationships but a key aspect that is often missed is listening. Listening without any interpretation, solution, judgment, defense, or attack. We all need to develop our listening skills as relationships don't always just have a communication problem but a listening problem.
20.01.2022 "A short letter to myself and anyone else who needs it: When you wake up with anxiety- its beating down on your chest, filling your head with fear, gluing your body to your bed and/or coating your eyes in misty tears... Pull yourself out, you are stronger than you think. It will be the hardest thing you do today but when the day is over you will be glowing with pride and you will smile to yourself because...well, you made it, all on your own. And tomorrow when it starts all o...ver again, youll remember that you were so strong yesterday so you can be even stronger today. But if you cant, then forgive yourself and cry, sleep, hide, escape; do what you need to do to get yourself back...everything and everyone else can wait. #headspace #RUOK #getup #getdressed #takeaselfie #youareok" We would like to thank Paula for allowing us to share her post. Many people who suffer from anxiety will connect with these words. It's incredibly courages and will help so many that read it.
19.01.2022 Feeling nervous or stressed about something from time to time is part of daily life, whether it be a job interview, a first date or even watching your favourite sports team. Anxiety however is not "just stress" It is important to understand that Anxiety can be very disabling and is not a personality trait.... Many people don't recognise the symptoms of anxiety, which can include hot and cold flushes, a racing heart, snowballing and negative thoughts and compulsive behaviour.

17.01.2022 Today is #RUOK day. Check in with those close to you and those that happen to cross your path. We never truly know how someone is unless we ask. Even a smile can make someone feel appreciated. As important as today is, also remember that this day is a reminder that we should always check in with those around us!

14.01.2022 "People don't get it, I thought I was a burden to everyone who loved me, thats what my brain told me because thats how powerful your brain is...I just said nobody cares, the reality was that everybody cared but I just couldn't see it" An incredibly eye opening insight into suicide. It is vital to educate ourselves as a society. Understand suicide. Understand how you can help. Understand how to be helped. "If you're suffering mentally, don't wait like I did sitting in denial f...or so long, because recovery happens. I'm living proof" Call or ask somebody for help, it is never too late.
14.01.2022 After a fantastic couple of years Metta Psychotherapy and Counselling has decided to temporarily finish its services. I would like to thank everyone for their support, it honestly wouldn't have been possible without each and every one of you, even liking the page went a long way to spreading the word and getting this up and running. Metta Psychotherapy and Counselling will be back some time in the future and will look to build on what was started two years ago. Remember we ...can all make a difference with awareness and understanding of mental health and I hope we all keep making small inputs into breaking the stigma and allowing people to seek help. Thank you all again and see you again in the future.

08.01.2022 When a situation or circumstance is placed in front of you, you have the choice to make it into a positive or a negative. It sounds simple but it requires us to understand our minds and have tools we can call upon such as resilience or a strong support network. Not everyone has these tools available to them, a support network may not be something you can control but resilience and mental fortitude can be developed. With training you can begin to understand how to overcome a s...ituation and then take the steps to making it into a positive. ~ So think to yourself "How can I use it for better or for worse? How can I pimp it? Can I pimp it negatively or can I pimp it in a positive way?" Learn how to #PimpTheSituation www.mettapc.com.au 0415724177 [email protected]

07.01.2022 It's vital that people feel comfortable seeking help. We believe that humanising mental health practitioners is an important cog in achieving this. Our principal Psychotherapist/Counsellor Kaven has shared his story with People Of Australia which he hopes will play a small part in more people reaching out and seeking mental help. Part one and two of his eight part interview is available now Also check out the People Of Australia page, which has some fantastic stories
06.01.2022 Sometimes it's better not to try and fix it
05.01.2022 'Let people know that there is someone watching, listening and caring; that there is an us, that there is a we and that kid or teenager or adult, is loved and not alone' A powerful message and a responsibility we must all embrace.
05.01.2022 Parts two, three and four are up of our principal psychotherapist/counsellor Kaven's interview with People Of Australia. In these parts Kaven speaks about depression, mental health for men and mental health education. Children are the key to breaking the stigma of mental health. We encourage all mental health practitioners to look at ways to get involved in educating children in schools about mental health. Even just dedicating an hour per week or month can make a huge difference!

01.01.2022 We are very focused on getting fit and looking healthy. Exercising, eating right, making sure our body is looking fit and in great shape. As important as this may be, we must not forget about our minds. We must start looking at health more holistically and the first step is learning how to take care of our mind.
