24.01.2022 Today is International Day of People with a Disability As most of you know, a big part of my week is working with these amazing people. Through exercise and movement we can assist is enhancing their lives in many ways, socially, practically and building strength and confidence in their abilities. The greatest part of my job is seeing the improvement although may be small for you and I but is often a huge deal for them. The smile at the end of each session is priceless.... Please be aware and mindful when out and about with the family, say "hello" and teach your children to accept others that may be different. #Mevsmept #thechangeinmeprogram

15.01.2022 *** Congratulations Paul *** Paul has recently completed the 10 week Change in Me Program where he lost 17kgs in body fat. Measurements are in..... 10cm from chest - gone 16.5 cm from waist ... 11cm from hips - burned away 4.5 cm from thighs - amazing Congrats Paul Accountability is the key to success. With our weekly PT sessions and numerous accountability check-ins. Paul stuck to the program and smashed it As a tradie and running his own business it's important to him that he keeps fit and healthy so he can keep working and enjoying his hobbies of hiking and being outdoors. With regular exercise she has noticed a change in her stamina, flexibility, strength and adaptation to different movement patterns. ... I would really like to thank her for her community spirit, her skills with the sewing machine, looking out for our members during these times of uncertainty by making face mask for us all (probably close to 60 so far) and insisting on nothing in return. With a handful of friends and word of mouth we started off with 2 sessions........ Fast forward and we now offer 4 session and have a wonderful supportive community dedicated to their health and well-being and of those around them. 10.01.2022 **** Member Appreciation **** I have a lot of amazing members in our community who all worked hard on their health and fitness. Today I would like to introduce you to Marilyn.... Marilyn joined our community almost a year ago now. Firstly she attended a yoga session and then thought a group fitness session would be a better option due to knee injuries. On her first session she turned to me and advised she couldn't do it after I had demonstrated the exercises and was going to leave. With encouragement and reassurance from myself and another member she persisted and enjoyed her session. We started PT shortly after once a fortnight and was concerned she wouldnt be able to sustain a 60 minute session. That was then....... Now: Attends at least 1 group session a week. Organises her RDO so she can attend another group seasion Smashes her WEEKLY PT session and is wanting more. We laugh about the old days and rejoice in how far she has come. Well done Marilyn, you're amazing, keep up the hard work and dedication to your health and fitness. #mevsmept #thechangeinmeprogram

06.01.2022 Non scale victories (NSV's) are more important than the number on the scales. This week 2 of our community have had some huge wins. Trish - touching her toes in yoga. Is moving better and her bone density results are in and they have improved as well as her iron levels Fiona - tracking her VO2 Max (maximum rate of oxygen consumed during exercise) since April. 05.01.2022 Today is World Mental Health Day. Mental Health needs to be talked about, especially with what has been happening in the world thos year. We need to remove the stigma that can often surround it. It is more than feeling low, down or depressed and you simply can't "just get over it" or "focus on the good things in your life", and quite frankly this is probably the worst thing you can say to someone suffering from depression, anxiety and other mental health issues. I believe it... is not a sign of weakness, but a product of being so strong for so long. It does not discriminate and can affect anyone at any time. Doing something for yourself like exercising has been proven to help with the symptoms of Mental Health conditions. This is what helped me and still helps me take control. Look out for your friends too, and ask them RUOK If you are feeling unable to cope, tired and not sleeping, feeling anxious, depressed, please reach out for help. 04.01.2022 One thing I've learned in recent weeks is to STOP - RESET - FOCUS Stop and slow down from time to time as life has a habit of running away from you. (Can't believe its nearly Christmas) Reset your mind to obtain more clarity on the next steps in your journey.... Focus on the important things in life. The changes you want to make and set clear goals on the future you. With that in mind. I want to spend more time with nature the Japanese call it "Shinrin-yoke" or "forest bathing" to help clear my head and to reset and regain focus of my next move.
