25.01.2022 First arrivals of 2021 kit from the AFLW indigenous auction. A great looking jumper honoring current indigenous players on both the AFLW and AFL men's list. First Jumper is #11 Chantel Emonson - Chantel played cricket at state and national levels before competing in the VFL Women's and was one of Melbourne's rookie signings in the 2018 AFLW off-season and debuted in the opening round of the 2019 season. 2nd Jumper is #23 Sinead Goldrick - Sinead was a surprise recruit by the ...Demons over the off-season coming across from Ireland. She's a seven-time All Star in Gaelic Football the equivalent of AFL’s All Australian Awards and has won the past three All-Ireland Championships. She slotted in well into the 2021 side before a hamstring injury in round 8 ended her season. Very pleased to have these into the collection

24.01.2022 Next, and a tough couple of jumpers to follow, and no offence to Peter Walsh, is this 1998 reserves jumper. It was worn in 23 games and saw him named runner up in the Gardner Medal for the B&F. This performance saw him upgraded to the main list in 1999 going on the play 104 games for the club up to 2004 in the number 42. His career ended at Port Adelaide, but during his time at Melbourne he was a reliable small defender and polled 11 Brownlow votes in his best season 2001. Note - the image shown is from 1999

24.01.2022 Always on the lookout for Player Issue Jumpers. The following are needed for 2020 2 x Home 2 x Royal Blue Clash 2 x Indigenous... 2 x Proud to Belong See more

23.01.2022 Wishing all a very Merry Christmas. To those who have helped the collection over 2020, I thank you. The final tally for 2020, including 2 negotiated last night!, has seen 69 new PI or MW jumpers into the collection. This has seen the 'wanted' list reduce significantly. Still a few to get to complete the collection goal of 2 of each jumper from 1978. Now only need 8 to have at least one of each. Looking forward to 2021 where we can hopefully get to some games live and build on the collection. To you and yours, enjoy the day, stay safe and cherish the time with your family, we need it after this year! Cheers!

23.01.2022 Always seeking to add Player issues to the collection.

22.01.2022 Seeking the following 2 x 1975 - No VFL logo or sponsor 2 x 1976-1977 - VFL Logo only 1 x 1978 - VFL & Square Mayne Logo

20.01.2022 Pleased to add this 2011 Home jumper into the collection to tick off a couple of collection goals. This Mark Jamar #40 is the second number 40 into the collection and also, with Mark being an All Australian in 2010 it fills a gap in this goal Mark made his MFC debut in 2003 and played 155 games up until the end of 2015 when his time a Melbourne finished. He formed a great partnership with Brent Moloney in the middle and finished third in the B&F in his All Australian year. He was enticed out of retirement to play with Essendon when they needed players to cover the drug scandal suspensions.

19.01.2022 Congrats to Christian Petracca on a fantastic season. MFC B&F and now All Australian

19.01.2022 Next into the collection is one of Melbourne’s modern greats and holder of numerous records at the club. This is my first match worn David Neitz Jumper from 1998, and couldn’t be happier to have it join the collection Most games for Melbourne 306 Most games as Captain Most Goals 631... Coleman Medallist 2002 Best & Fairest 2002 7 time leading goal kicker 2 time All Australian 1995 & 2002 AFL Hall of Fame Inductee 2017 Not only a true champion of the game but a truly great bloke too!

18.01.2022 Last post for the night is a 2015 White Clash jumper that has also now been owned by all three of the Hardcore demon collectors. Joel Williams the first owner secured this directly from Jack and since traded to Paul who now has a Jeremy Howe version of this one, allowing this #31 Jack Grimes into my hands. This version was only worn in 3 AFL games and one NAB cup game and again really happy to have a photo match of Jack wearing his! This jumper is also the first Jack Grimes into the collection, adding to the Captains that I have. Thanks Paul & Joel!

18.01.2022 Next is a 2015 Red Clash jumper that has now been owned by all three of the Hardcore demon collectors. Joel Williams the first owner found this one on the back of a supporter at the MCG and made an offer. It was traded to Paul who now has a Jeremy Howe version of this one, allowing this #15 Billy Stretch into my hands. This version was only worn twice and really happy to have a photo match of Billy wearing his! Thanks Paul & Joel!

17.01.2022 Another jumper joins the collection and one from 2009 that has proved elusive. This White Clash version was only worn in one game, v Brisbane at the Gabba. A similar version was worn during the preseason; however, Melbourne had not finalised their Hankook sponsorship, and wore a version with a Red Cross Bushfire relief motif after the devastating fires during earlier that summer. I was recently approached by a Melbourne supporter and collector from SA, who had missed out on... one of the recently auctioned Proud to Belong jumpers. A brief discussion with Shaun Lovekin in September lead to him needing to check his collection in storage and forward some photos. Late last week the photos were sent, and this one stood out to me. We were able to negotiate a trade for the Jake Melksham jumper I recently won at the auction. Shaun express posted, and the jumper is now sitting comfortably in my collection. The Proud to belong jumpers have been delayed due to Covid, with COA’s and tins the issue, but as soon as they arrive, it will be immediately forwarded This Player Issue James McDonald jumper also adds another Captain and B&F player to my collection which is an added bonus. Unfortunately due to injury James missed the game in which this jumper was worn. A huge thanks to Shaun for agreeing to the trade.

17.01.2022 First couple of jumpers are trainers. A 1994 spare player issue Long Sleeve #53. No listed player with this number in 1994, but this Navy style jumper was worn over numerous years in the 90's with different sponsors. The Tooheys Blue Diamond dates this one 1994. The second trainer is from the preseason of 1997/98. Simon confirmed some really interesting history of this period for the apparel at the MFC. I have mentioned before that Nike were trying very hard to win the cont...ract, and Simon has confirmed they were unrelenting with numerous batches of various styles sent to the club. Most of these were discarded due to incorrect colours. Canterbury eventually won the contract, and this unnumbered trainer is a CCC jumper, but has Tooheys sponsorship. It was late in the 1998 preseason that the major sponsor changed to LG Electronics for the season proper. New logos were sewn on the majority, but some have slipped through. See more

16.01.2022 Always seeking to add Player issues to the collection. The following are needed 1 x 1994 Home 2 x 1995 Home 1 x 1996 Home (Centenary AFL Logo)... 1 x 1996 Preseason (Centenary AFL Logo) 2 x 1997 Preseason (Standard AFL Logo) See more

16.01.2022 I hope you continue to enjoy as I strive to add to my collection. Thanks to the Demon Army for the Run Through!

16.01.2022 Always on the lookout for Player Issue Jumpers. The following are needed for 2020 1 x Home 2 x Royal Blue Clash

15.01.2022 So another new addition following a trade with Paul Walter, and this Match Worn 2015 ANZAC fills a gap in the double up goal for my collection. Jack played in this first ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers and played ok with 14 disposals and a goal to contribute to the upset win. The ANZAC Eve games are a fantastic event and the pregame event is a fitting tribute to the commemoration of all the soldiers who have served and those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our cou...ntry. Thanks Paul for the trade, and thanks to all past and current service men and women.

14.01.2022 OK- next is a 2001/02 Preseason jumper worn by Andrew Leoncelli. This jumper was worn over 2 preseasons and not many of them surface. Andrew played in the jumper over both seasons with the photos below from both. Playing 146 games from 1996 2003, Chell was initially drafted to Carlton in 1993 but failed to break into their strong side. Carlton's loss was Melbourne’s gain and Andrew was a very consistent midfield performer during his career and after football, he was a boar...d member. Pleased to have this one into the collection

13.01.2022 Another great jumper has arrived and thanks go to a long-time Melbourne supporter who is also the Grandmother of my son’s girlfriend. Margaret Anderson asked one of her long-time family friends if he had kept any jumpers from his playing days. He said he had a few he was keeping for his grandchildren, but was happy to part with one after Margie let him know of my passion for collecting player issue jumpers. Alan Johnson played 135 games with Melbourne from 1982 and retiring ...in 1990. A duel B&F winner, WA State player and MFC Hall of Famer, Alan was a great contributor to Melbourne and one of the only players that could hold their head high after the 1988 Grand Final. When I first saw photos of the jumper, I was intrigued with the Mayne Nickless sponsor style. The square version of this logo, was only on the jumpers in 1978, and it changed to a rounded bottom badge from 1979 1983. I referred the jumper to my fellow hardcore collectors, Joel & Paul for their opinion. We have intel on jumper manufacturers from the 70’s & 80’s, and confirmation from a number of property stewards and assistants that as not many players wore long sleeves on a regular basis. Jumper manufacturer, Brandella made long sleeves jumpers that were reissued year to year to avoid costs of making long sleeve jumpers that were just not worn. It is very unusual for an incorrect sponsor patch to be worn on field, but given the slight variation it may have slipped through the re-sewing process. We also have identified that the VFL patch is a woven version, that dates the jumper pre1979 as well. So, we are confident that this jumper is a 1978 PI jumper that was re-used up until 1983, when Alan wore it on a couple of cold winters day at the G in 1982 & 1983. Sadly, I have yet to identify any photos of the jumper, and footage of games from this era is limited, but I will continue to search. A huge thanks again to Margie and especially to Alan Johnson for agreeing to part with this one

10.01.2022 Next couple of jumpers come from the 1996 season, and really pleased to add my first Match worn Re-enactment jumper. #18 Craig Nettelbeck played in the game against Sydney where this jumper was worn. Craig was at Melbourne in 1996 & 1997 and played in 23 games for the club. The #27 Anthony Ingerson jumper is a PI Spare for the game as he was not selected. Recruited from Adelaide after 4 seasons and 37 games, Anthony played 121 games for Melbourne from 1996-2001 and was a member of the 2000 Grand Final team. A very reliable defender and much loved Demon

08.01.2022 Always seeking to add Player issues to the collection. The following are needed - 1 x BCNA

07.01.2022 The last post for the day is this 2002 one off Jumper commemorating Melbourne's 1000th game at the MCG. These have also proved very elusive and I have only seen two others since the game was played. This Paul Wheatley jumper has been signed by the entire 2002 squad and shows signs of wear with grass stains on the back number. Another much loved player from the early 2000's and another reliable defender. Made his name in the preseason as the 9-point king! Wrapped to have this one and equally as happy to find photos to match!

07.01.2022 Thanks Oscar Next......

07.01.2022 Thanks for the gift Hamish! Much appreciated

04.01.2022 OK, so the power of social media and the establishment of my page has paid some dividends in the past, but maybe not as big as this haul. Late last week I received a message from a new ‘liker’ of the page asking if I was interested in some Player issue jumpers he had. Not one to be shy, I advised I am always on the lookout and would love to see what was on offer. Simon Johnson, then proceed to provide the photos of some outstanding MFC jumpers that are now being well looked a...fter in the collection. Simon worked at the club assisting the property steward in the mid-late 90’s into the early 2000’s and accumulated these. A quick negotiation and the deal was done. Thanks also to Tim Shaw, a friend who was able to collect these during Covid as he is local, and due to working in the same industry was able to do the hand over. Given the quality of jumper and the players involved, I will put these jumpers up in posts shortly as they need to be shown off Thanks Simon and I look forward to a post Covid catch up!

04.01.2022 In addition to the 1998 David Neitz, comes another true champion of the Melbourne Football Club, another Captain, this time Todd Viney. Playing 233 games for Melbourne from 1987 1999, Todd took over from Garry Lyon as captain in 1998 holding the position for 2 years before handing over to David Neitz upon his retirement. Hard and uncompromising, you knew what you were going to get when Todd was on the field. Not too many Todd Viney jumpers come up all that often and this is the first for me, and another captains jumper to tick off the collection.
