17.01.2022 The reasons why children may begin to stutter are unclear. What we do know though is that treatment of stuttering, that does not show signs of natural recovery, is essential in a child's early years. The Lidcombe Program is a treatment proven to be extremely effective in early intervention. I was lucky enough to attend a very informative two-day workshop this week to learn how to use this program effectively, and I am looking forward to putting my newly learnt skills into practice in the clinic! More information about the Lidcombe Program, and stuttering in general, can be found following the link below (www.lidcombeprogram.org) or call MGP Speech Pathology if you have any questions or concerns.

15.01.2022 As Speech Pathologists, we frequently get asked questions about what is 'normal' with respect to speech and language development. This article nicely summarises what should be expected at different ages. If you, or anyone you know, has any concerns about their child's speech or language development, contact MGP Speech Pathology - www.mgpspeech.com.au https://theconversation.com/how-to-tell-if-your-child-has-a

09.01.2022 It is never too early to start reading to children. One of my favourite authors of children's books, the legendary Mem Fox, shares her top ten commandments for reading with children. I love them all, but especially No. 10 - read them here! http://memfox.com//for-parents-ten-read-aloud-commandments/

07.01.2022 2016 is well underway now, with school and kinder programs all back in full swing! Here is a great video with some very important messages that we should all keep in mind, from some great kids. https://www.facebook.com/UpworthyVideo/videos/768516636586219/?fref=nf

06.01.2022 Currently in Cambodia, more than 600,000 people (or around 1 in every 25 people) are suffering from a communication or swallowing disorder, but yet health services for them are virtually non-existent. OIC is an inspiring organisation working towards making Speech Pathology available and accessible to those in need. They are currently running a Crowd Funding Project to raise funds and awareness for their projects. Every $AUD goes a long way, and to a very worthy cause. Could you last a day without speech? http://www.oiccambodia.org/
