25.01.2022 Some days there are no words. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of Sarah, Jane and Ciara. Hug your loved ones today.

25.01.2022 BIOSECURITY MATTERS I attended the AGM of the Eastern Wheatbelt Biosecurity Group last Thursday and was concerned to hear reports that the doggers contracted to manage the areas along the State Barrier Fence are unable to operate effectively because of the number of people illegally using the tracks alongside the fence. Trapping and removing wild-dogs and other pests is vitally important for our farming businesses and for the environment - and they must be able to operate s...afely and effectively. I have written to the Government to highlight the problem, there needs to be urgent action to ensure wild dogs are kept in check and the doggers can can get on with their job. WARNING It is illegal for the general public to travel on the track that runs alongside Western Australia’s State Barrier Fence. Only authorised vehicles are permitted. There are surveillance cameras in place to record unauthorised vehicles, which could face a $10,000 fine. Travel is only allowed on roads that transect the fence. The fence is a work site, frequented by Licensed Pest Management Technicians using poisons, traps and firearms to control wild dogs, and by DPIRD personnel carrying out maintenance and upgrades.

25.01.2022 $4.4M STADIUM UPGRADE the premier basketball facility in Kalgoorlie-Boulder needs an upgrade and The Nationals WA have promised $4.4 million to help the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Basketball Association deliver a better stadium for the over 1200 players and their spectators. Nationals candidate #RowenaOlsen hosted me in Kalgoorlie early last week and we met with the basketball crew at Neils Hansen Stadium to talk about what an upgrade would mean for their association - more playe...rs, more opportunity to grow the sport and a great platform to host state games. The leadership of the association have done a great job working with what they’ve got - but it’s time for an upgrade! Kalgoorlie - Rowena has been a strong advocate for the funding - if you’d like to see the project get up then back her at the next State election! 25.01.2022 BADJALING REMEMBERS it was wonderful to join elders, community members and the project team from Community Vision for the launch of a collection of photographs capturing life and family from the earliest days of the Badjaling community. 23.01.2022 WELCOME MILLIE HILLS The Nationals WA candidate for Kimberley! Bunuba-Kija woman Millie Hills, from Halls Creek in the east Kimberley, was endorsed by The Nationals WA State Council this weekend. Millie has strong community connections across the Kimberley and a strong drive to improve the lives of everyone living and working in the region. Mrs Hills has worked across the education, community services, local government and construction sectors. ... Currently Chairperson of the Yuri Yungi Aboriginal Medical Service, an organisation she has been associated with since 1984, Mrs Hills has a keen interest in improving health outcomes for Aboriginal people. Millie also serves on the executive of the Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Service and is a board member of the Halls Creek Aboriginal Corporation. Her priorities include advocating for education and training opportunities in the region, create pathways to employment, better grassroots healthcare, reduce alcohol-related harm and improving people’s diets so they can live healthier, longer lives. 23.01.2022 REGIONAL SPOTLIGHT I spoke with WAtoday.com.au journalist Nathan Hondros last week about the upcoming election. Our team is focused on regional WA and returning #RoyaltiesforRegions so we can seize the opportunity to ‘build back better’ post-COVID-19. "We can't exist without our regions thriving. The state's economy depends on agriculture, mining, tourism, hospitality, that's where the wealth of the state is generated.... "We may be small in number, and there may be few electorates out there, but it doesn't mean they shouldn't have strong and forceful representation and in government or opposition that's our role." 20.01.2022 16 DAYS IN WA the annual ‘Stop the Violence Against Women’ campaign started this week. If you need help there’s help available - DVassist is a dedicated family and domestic violence service for people living in regional, rural, and remote areas of WA. The service has been established in recognition of the unique challenges our regional communities face in accessing information, advice and practical support, such as social isolation, physical distance from services and a lac...k of anonymity and privacy. They have a DV helpline staffed by experienced, trained counsellors as well as an online information hub and services directory. #itsoktoaskforhelp #dvassist #stoptheviolenceagainstwomen

19.01.2022 HEALTH CRISIS RALLY held yesterday was the first time the Australian Nursing Federation (ANF) and the Australian Medical Association (AMA) held a joint rally - a true indicator that the Health Minister has completely dropped the ball. Minister Cook has been in charge for four and a half years - record ambulance ramping, a record numbers of code blacks in our hospitals, starved our health system of funds to resource and support our frontline workers and then thrown everyone... under the bus when things go catastrophically wrong. He and the Government missed or ignored the red flags - and now we have a system in crisis. The National & Liberal Alliance Opposition support our front line workers - the nurses, doctors and clinicians that feel so let down. We will continue to ask the hard questions of the Minister, along with the ANF and AMA(WA). 18.01.2022 400 that’s how many people have signed up to the State Government’s worker incentive scheme. 7000 that’s how many we need in the agricultural sector alone. This Labor Government has failed to realise the depth of the challenge for our $10 billion agricultural sector and $13 billion tourism and hospitality sector. ... Worker shortages in these sectors will hit the hip pockets of our businesses, and ultimately the consumer ... and we started raising this issue in March. Too little too late and all we have is a glossy advertising campaign, an incentives program that misses the mark and industry crying out for help. #TheNationalsWA #RegionalalWAys #CountryMP #workforceshortages #agriculture #Horticulture #tourism #hospitality The Nationals WA WAFarmers Regional Chambers of Commerce & Industry of WA

18.01.2022 STRONG WOMEN equal strong communities. I’ve been an MP for 12 years and it has been an privilege to work with some extraordinary women during that time. Every now and then I look back through my photo archive to remind myself of the good things that come from connecting, collaborating and supporting each other to succeed - and how lucky we are in regional WA to have so many strong women working to make a difference. As Leader of The Nationals WA I want that strength reflec...ted in our Party at all levels - and I am pleased we have women who are community leaders stepping up as candidates for the next election. Delma Baesjou - Candidate for Albany Rowena Olsen, Candidate for Kalgoorlie Natasha Colliver, Candidate for Agricultural Region (Geraldton) Daiva Gillam, Candidate for Mining & Pastoral Region (Karratha) Louise Kingston, Candidate for South West Region (Manjimup / Albany) They follow in the footsteps of women like Hon Winifred Piesse, Dr Hilda Turnbull, Hon Wendy Duncan and Hon Jacqui Boydell - and are building on the contribution of so many others who have put their hand up to represent their community. So many women are hesitant to take the step and put themselves forward for leadership positions - but we are ALL better for it when you do. Serving your community as a Member of Parliament is deeply rewarding, so here’s my offer to the strong women I see every day in regional WA. Consider giving me, or one of our candidates, a call to talk more about how you can get involved! #TheNationalsWA #RegionalalWAys #womeninleadership #strikeabalance #communitybuilders #collaborate #connect #support The Nationals WA

17.01.2022 GOLDFIELDS it’s been a busy two days with The Nationals WA candidate for Kalgoorlie #RowenaOlsen. We stopped in for a chat with CEO Gloria and Board members of Goldfields Women’s Health Care Centre (www.gwhcc.org.au) for an update on the services they offer to support women, children and families in the region. The team is remarkable, making every dollar stretch to offer the support and care their clients need - but like so many other women’s health center’s across the State they are under-resourced. This is a safe and welcoming space for women to access everything from basic health checks, counselling, support and advice on family and domestic violence, and health and wellbeing. #womenshealth #wellbeing #fdv #children #families #GP #mentalhealth #goldfields #kalgoorlie

15.01.2022 PILBARA visit this week with The Nationals WA candidate Scott Bourne - Nationals WA, Pilbara. We met with industry leaders, community groups and business owners in #Karratha and the message from all was clear and consistent - we need more housing, especially affordable housing! 13.01.2022 MORE GUIDE DOGS NEEDED this week I joined Wayne Sanford The Nationals WA Candidate for Collie-Preston to announce a policy to bred and train guide dogs here in WA. 06.01.2022 BOTTLENECK FOR BUILDERS The Nationals WA Ian Blayney MLA - Member for Geraldton and I met with Warren Taylor from Warren Taylor Homes last week to discuss how his business has been affected by COVID-19. We spoke about the impact of the building bonus program within the construction industry and the effects this program has had on businesses in the Midwest. 06.01.2022 POLICE STATION UPGRADES are on the priority list if The Nationals WA are returned to Government in March 2021. 02.01.2022 SUBBIES legislation has finally made it to the Parliament, rushed in by Government as an urgent Bill after 14 other pieces of legislation had been introduced this year. The Nationals WA have committed to increase the funding for the Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS) by $58 million if returned to Government in March 2021. The Nationals believe in investing in health services in the regions (and did this when in Government) but in some cases people have no choice but to travel to access specialist services. We need to make sure people don’t avoid se...eking help because they can’t afford to travel or stay away from home - and with an extra $58 million from #RoyaltiesforRegions we can: increase fuel subsidy from 16c to 21c per km increase accommodation rate (commercial) to $110 per night change eligibility to travel by air from 1400km or 16 hours, to 700km surface travel or 8 hours extend eligibility for patients that need treatment for more than six months support patients and escort requiring long-term treatment to return home once a month provide pregnant women with an extra week of accommodation (and funding for escort / support person) include access to allied health service (out-patient department referred) include dental treatment streamline claims process by digitizing and shifting to online approvals We believe this is about priorities - and The Nationals WA in Government choose health services for regional people over a $50 million pedestrian bridge for Perth (like the Labor Government has just announced).
