15.01.2022 Growing up on the northwest coast of Tasmania, my self-taught journey and desire to create was channeled at an early age. Following a lengthy career as a commercial artist , l began to explore my new found passion ; hand carving and sculpting the melon and honey -scented Huon pine ; one of Australias oldest and rarest woods , along with other speciality timbers endemic to Tasmania. It is said that the best artist to be found in such a field, are those that can release the soul of the wood . For several years my work has explored native Tasmanian wildlife, fauna and natural environmental forms. Each piece of artwork undergoes a meticulous relationship with its maker ; one of respect , awe and an abundance of concentrated energy until it is completed with excellence. Constantly enraptured in creation , my journey continues. . .
