25.01.2022 Important changes to the compulsory hotel quarantine arrangements have just been released. From 18 July onwards Australians returning to Sydney will need to fund their accommodation You have until midnight tonight to book your flight home to avoid this charge (no matter when you plan to come home), you'll also need to factor in the cap on daily arrivals has also been halved! 2020 will be remembered as the year booking anything with a travel agent became far more relevant due to constant changes and updates! Why would you even consider trying to navigate these waters yourself?

22.01.2022 Ace of Base - All That She Wants Heard blasting from boomboxes in just about every village we drove through from Central to East Africa back in the early 90's. Never fails to make me smile and whenever I hear it I am transported instantly back to the back of a bumpy overland truck. Such happy memories! What's yours?

22.01.2022 Oooh happy Monday news! Bring on that bubble sooner rather than later Who's keen on a quick flip across the ditch when we're allowed?

21.01.2022 Who's keeping track of where we can go and what quarantine is required for domestic travel within Australia? It's been a crazy game of drunken chess, but think I've figured it out, so it's time to post an update (as at 12.45pm on 22Sep).. New South Wales WE'RE OPEN for business to all states except our Victorian neighbours, and there are no travel restrictions within NSW. It's time to get out there and start supporting our regional relatives (like us, we are road tripping fo...r some big sky time next week). P.S. Norfolk and Lord Howe Islands are also waking up and welcoming visitors again soon. Northern Territory OPEN FOR BUSINESS to NSW from 09Oct onwards and no restrictions to every other state, except sadly Victorians are still not welcome just yet (keep going Victoria, you're doing well!) South Australia YIPPEE - SA is officially opening borders to NSW with no self-quarantine required as of midnight Weds 23Sep. Note if you're from NT, QLD, TAS or WA you're already able to enter without restriction, but again Victorians need to wait a bit longer. Queensland WHO REALLY KNOWS? - every state is welcome except VIC & NSW where there is a border bubble in place and certain 'shires' are permitted to enter, it's best to double-check your NSW postcode before attempting to book anything (your friendly travel agent can help with this!). ACT YES we can all visit if we want to, except Victorians. Victoria The borders have always remained open but sadly restrictions are still in place, but they'll continue to ease as covid numbers are dropping. My heart is with all my friends and followers feeling a bit unloved in Victoria right now, we'll be back as soon as we're allowed to, we love our Melbourne getaways. Tasmania & Western Australia ARE YOU STILL THERE? We know what you're doing not wanting to share your piece of the pie with the rest of us and enjoying your peace & quiet, but we ALL want to come and visit when you're ready to open your borders to the rest of the country and we promise to behave ourselves. Who's ready to #HolidayHereThisYear with me? You deserve a personal travel manager. [email protected] 1300 763 591 www.travelmanagers.com.au/ptm/MichelleDesmarchelier/ #TogetherInTravel

21.01.2022 The mercury is rising here, the sun clearly didn't sleep well and rose ANGRY this morning. We've done all our chores and are now hibernating in the air-con. I remember one summer our air-con broke and we sweltered through one of the worst summers (I was pregnant too!) so I printed pictures of snowy forests and mountains and stuck them around the house to feel 'cooler'.. What's your preference, summer cocktails by a pool or snow angels in alpine fresh air?

18.01.2022 2020, the year we lived through a global pandemic and said goodbye to Qantas 747-400 The jumbo jet is being retired after 49 years of service. It was the passenger plane that ushered in a new era of international travel, revolutionising in-flight service and capturing the hearts of plane spotters everywhere. It’s off to an aircraft graveyard in the Mojave Desert.... Check out that flight map!

16.01.2022 I love airports, that feeling of walking through the 'departures' through immigration and heading off on holidays, I love the duty-free section and having that compulsory airport bloody mary no matter what time it is, but I particularly LOVE standing and watching everyone in the arrivals hall, the hugs, tears and laughter, I could stand there all day just watching! I cannot wait for the world to re-open so we can all experience this feeling again sooner rather than later. Get... the tissues ready, this made me blubber <3 See more

11.01.2022 Happy Wednesday! Right now our options are limited to domestic travel, and understandably many people are looking to book and plan their own holidays, you can also do your own home maintenance, but I'm here to say you don't have to! I even pay someone else to wash our dog as a) I can't be bothered and b) I know that he'll do it properly. Even when the world reopens and we're able to travel freely overseas, it's going to be a totally different experience, there are a fe...w more added steps in the process, and your travel professional is trained to read the terms & conditions, understand the cancellation penalties and find alternatives that may be better suited or less restrictive. There is a reported misconception that by booking through a third party (i.e. a travel professional) you'll end up paying more than if you booked and managed your own travel plans directly. Yes in 2021 it's possible that you may be charged a relevant service fee by your travel agent to cover their time and income, but that service fee is also your guarantee that your travel professional is on hand to manage the risk on your behalf, and boy oy boy we've had some practice at that over the past twelve months!! I am here to advocate for my clients, to "manage the risk" on your behalf, I am available 24/7 whilst you're travelling, I work with known and trusted travel providers and suppliers who also negotiate contract rates for our network, and where I need to I will charge a small service fee (as outlined on my website) to cover my time and earn an income... It's a small price to pay I'm sure you'll agree. Here's a picture of Milford Sound, totally irrelevant to this post I know, but I like to stare at it and dream of better days ahead in travel <3 Take care and please reach out if I can help manage your travel plans, even if it's a short weekend away <3 Michelle x

05.01.2022 "Get in the car, there's no time to explain"... everyone needs a ride or die friend or two and I am lucky enough to have a few of them in my realm. Today Sally who is also a client and who also has itchy feet waiting for the borders to reopen, picked me up for a spin to the airport and back. The following video really needs no explanation, sad to see how quiet this usually buzzing and busy place is, hopefully soon those travel bubbles will be in place and we can all get back... to doing what we love best. p.s. she also brings coffee along for the ride too <3 #togetherintravel #travelbubble

05.01.2022 I’m often asked, What’s your Why? It’s simple, that sunset and the humans (and the canine of course) in this picture are my Why! I live on the outskirts of Sydney surrounded by beautiful bushland and my previous job saw me commute nearly an hour each way to the office 5 days a week; I’d be one of the first mums to drop the kids off to before-school care, often before the sun rose, and they’d often be the last to be collected from after-school care, well after after the sun...Continue reading

03.01.2022 Happy Saturday, hope you're all enjoying the lovely start to Spring! Another month into 2020 and travel restrictions are still in place as our domestic borders remain closed between some states, but after yesterday's National Cabinet there is hope that they'll be opened by Christmas, even though our international travel ban has been extended until mid-December. I have however just read a great article in the trade press that Greece, South Korea, Israel, Hawaii, Japan, Si...ngapore some Pacific Island nations as well as New Zealand are apparently all lining up to form travel bubbles with Australia which gives some glimmer of hope that travel may resume some normality in the months ahead. Enquiries for intrastate travel seem to be increasing and while the rest of the nation seems to be out of bounds, there is so much of NSW to be discovered, oh and school holidays are just around the corner, again Have you considered setting up a 'travel fund'? I have a number of clients who deposit a set amount of money each month into a travel account with me, it's a great way of saving pennies and planning for when the world reopens and gives everyone something to look forward to. Drop me a message or email if you're keen to know more. Lastly, happy Father's day to all the dad's and other carers for tomorrow. Michelle x

03.01.2022 Sharing these pics with permission from a fellow personal travel manager & great friend Louise who is off to the Sunshine Coast today.. Check out that departure board and the check-in queue, I'm not normally a fan of queuing, but this is one I'd stand in for as long as it takes. 03.01.2022 Gee I have a great boss don't I?! 02.01.2022 I love my clients, just because we can't get on a flight doesn't mean we can't go to the airport anyway Thanks for the laugh Sally

02.01.2022 Looking forward to joining a zoom with Julian Leeser MP today to talk about the immediate and ongoing impact Covid-19 has had on the travel industry. #togetherintravel

01.01.2022 2020 is continuing to deliver many challenges with everybody affected in one way or another by this global pandemic. There are global travel companies closing their doors for good, airlines running at massive losses, staff being stood down until further notice and very little by the way of income earning potential for many retail travel agencies with border closures and restrictions changing regularly, yes bookings are still flowing, but so are the cancellations when those... restrictions change. I earn my income from commissions, which are transferred from suppliers & airlines when my clients travel, not when people don't travel or are forced to cancel. I have struggled with this concept for many years, however the past 6 months of dealing with Covid cancellations for bookings into the middle of 2021 (along with the prompting of one or two of my wonderful clients) has highlighted my need to move with the times and start putting a value on the service I offer, so in line with many other industries the time has come for me to implement a travel management fee schedule for all bookings. Yes you can manage your own travel to avoid paying fees, the same as you can do your own mechanics or home maintenance, but if you'd like a professional to manage your travel plans, then I hope you'll agree the extra money spent is a small price to pay to get it right the first time. You deserve a personal travel manager. [email protected] 1300 763 591 www.travelmanagers.com.au/ptm/MichelleDesmarchelier/ #TogetherInTravel

01.01.2022 I love this vintage inflight bar list from Ansett days that is doing the rounds of the travel industry pages. I wouldn't begrudge paying those prices for my inflight beverages <3

01.01.2022 This and a 2020 year planner, they're both a bit useless at the moment. I'd like to add shoes to the list too (uggies all the way, or gumboots today!). What's on your list?

01.01.2022 Who else is missing the excitement of heading to the airport to jump on a plane? I know our options are quite limited right now, but how about ticking the Southern Lights, Aurora Australis off your bucket list?? Spend the day on board Chimu Adventures chartered Qantas Dreamliner for a once in a lifetime opportunity to head south as far as 62 degrees latitude where #AuroraAustralis is brightest. ...
