15.01.2022 Lesley Kendall Succulent Watercolour painting and paper sculptures Wow what fantastic work. ... If you are in the Mnt Coot-Tha botanical gardens area and looking for some botanical inspiration of a different kind then i highly recommend you stop by the cactus and succulent house to see her work. Its only on until Sunday 13th. Each day it changes as her sculptural pieces are arranged out amongst the plants. It’s a joyous treasure hunt for the eyes with surprising detail and intricacies you would not expect from recycled watercolour painting and paper. Each piece is unique and in the incorporating of it into a suitable environment it transcends the work to whole new level. Well done @rustlingleaf #lesleykendall #inspiration #botanicalartist #brisbaneartist #botanicalsculpture See more

08.01.2022 Fantastic Petals to paint sketch club today. Learning about mark making, how to trick our eyes and brain into seeing more or filling in the detail. How to embrace the process, how to love the act of sketching. Join me each week Monday at the gardens for relax, unwind and connect to nature.

05.01.2022 What beautiful layering of meaning and floral form and so elegantly put together. #Repost @gabrielahearst with @get_repost The message of Unity is the main inspiration for the creation of the Ensemble. Unity makes strength and it is needed for the road ahead. The blooming symbol to represent this message are the federal flowers from every state and territory of the United States of America. The flowers are embroidered into the cashmere coat on the hem line in an pattern... that rises organically on the side’s seams. On the dress, the embroidery is placed on the silk organza neckline and arms. The body of the dress is constructed in silk wool cady. The Delaware flower is positioned at the heart level of The First Lady, from there, all the other flowers branch out. The pieces were made entirely in New York City. The Embroidery and Coat were crafted in the garment district and the dress was assembled at the inhouse studio. Each flower took approximately two-four hours to embroider. Careful placements and color selections were carefully studied for weeks. Inside of the coat, representing the lifelong calling and service of Dr. Biden as an educator is a hand embroidery on the lining with a quote from Founding Father Benjamin Franklin Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn. The materials used were existing available fabrics to minimize the impact on the environment #gabrielahearst See more

31.12.2021 Work in progress. Untitled Oil on canvas board. By Michelle Pujol Working my way through the layers slowly drawing focus in on these unusual flowers I found in a tree on a walk a few days ago. They are a little bit of a puzzle cascading in a tree but not from the tree, I have no idea what they are called and as I paint their simple details mystify me. ... #michellepujol #wreath #natureisbeautiful #backtonature #freshfrommywalk #creativelifehappylife #stilllife #dsfloral #australianflora #botanicalart #australianemergingartist #brisbaneartist

18.12.2021 Fallen Petals Watercolour and ink By Michelle Pujol As part of the work that has been developing under the as I walk series this little 30cm x 30cm painting draws on so many aspects of my arts residency at Mnt Coot -Tha botanical gardens. The spiralling wreath is a common theme in my work both in jewellery and in painting.... In this painting : Layers of watercolour washes are painted with no preconceived outcome before the details of flowers and petals I have come across are drawn out. Where splashes of colour might seem obscure I refer to my extensive collection of flower photos I have taken over the years before working on the flowers. Creating a unique wreath of orchids, Inca lilies, honey suckle or Bougainville. The process of the painting is both contemplative and meditative. I would love to see this as a large painting but there is fear that the washes will be lost in oils. I guess there is only one way to find out. #michellepujol #creativelifehappylife #meditativepainting #spiral #wreathsofinstagram #australianemergingartist #australianartist #brisbaneartist #newwork #watercolourandink #dsfloral #botanicalgarden #mygardenheart #botanicalabstract #countrystyle

07.12.2021 I feel like this today.

19.11.2021 I love the interaction between wall works and objects, just visually stunning.

07.11.2021 How stunning are these glass specimens instantly my imagination is sparked. The same way as when I first came across Ernst Haeckel’s illustrations.
