21.01.2022 I really want to extend my appreciation to Richard and Mark from RARMs for showing Ryan Park for Keira and I around their medical facilities in rural and remote NSW. It was rewarding and informative.
21.01.2022 How come the government is backing this option? It makes a mockery of the Business Case process to determine the best projects for government funding. The information suggests that the community's preferred option of Troy Bridge was not even assessed through the BCR process by the department. Unbelievable!
19.01.2022 It was great to do a listening tour of the south coast this week. I met with people who provided differing perspectives on a range of issues. One thing that was very clear from my conversations is the degree of passion and active advocacy in these communities.
16.01.2022 Foodbank Australia has released their 'Foodbank Hunger Report 2020' and it provides a sobering snapshot of food insecurity in Australia. Make sure you read it and consider donating to this very important cause. https://www.foodbank.org.au/wp-content//2020/10/FB-HR20.pdf
11.01.2022 Today, Greg Warren and I were shown the terrible state of roads in the Upper Hunter electorate by the Labor candidate for Jeff Drayton - Labor for Upper Hunter. The local councils we met today were adamant that road reclassification report currently with Minister Toole must be released before people commence voting in the by election. No Council should be worse off under the governments plan and as Jeff said money spent on road maintenance is money spent on community safety.
09.01.2022 I look forward to this Webinar with the Labor Team led by Jodi McKay MP alongside Jenny Aitchison MP, Clayton Barr MP, Member for Cessnock and Daniel Mookhey MLC. Agriculture and Regional NSW should be front and centre of the Covid-19 recovery. Jump online for this event on Monday at 6 PM.
07.01.2022 Western NSW and Cobar, recently lost a true champion with the passing of Lilliane Brady OAM. Lilliane provided me with a lot of advice during my time in politics and she was a friend. Here is my contribution to the condolence motion last week in the NSW Legislative Council. Vale Lilliane Brady OAM The Hon. MICK VEITCH (22:05): I join the Hon. Sam Farraway in speaking to the condolence motion for Lilliane Brady, OAM. The first thing Lilliane would make sure you knew was th...Continue reading
06.01.2022 On International Women's Day we should all take time to reflect upon how much more must be done to obtain equality for women.
02.01.2022 I was proud to support the motion moved last night in the NSW Legislative Council by Hon Rod Roberts calling on the government to demerge Cootamundra-Gundagai Council. Here is my contribution.
01.01.2022 Health is such an important service for regional New South Wales. This inquiry into 'Rural and Regional Health' is highlighting just how big the gap is between health services in the city compared to health services in the regions.
