10.01.2022 Today my husband and I with our two guide dogs had another near miss with an electric car. We were crossing a side road and it came in off the main road and pas...sed very close in front of us. If it’d been a petrol or diesel engine, or if it’d had a sound emitter fitted, we’d have heard it, but, apart from the sound of the tyres on the road, it was virtually silent. I am a confident guide dog handler but I can honestly say that silent electric vehicles scare me. I fear that it will take serious injury to a blind person, or even worse, death, before any meaningful legislation is put into place. If it happens to me or someone that I care about, I’ll be in court and I won’t rest until we have justice. So please, if you drive an electric vehicle, switch on your sound emitter. After all, you wouldn’t drive at night without your lights on, it’s the same thing. Many people will like this post but please don’t. I ask anyone who would have hit the like button to please hit the share button instead and pass this far and wide. I fear for our lives and those of these two amazing dogs.

10.01.2022 Please read/watch the video as it has some important information for our Club.

The T.A.B. sponsored voucher was won by Bob Edwards and the Jackpot was won by Trevor Holdman. On Thursday 16th July Albany Fire Brigade had a social day at the Club playing bowls and enjo...ying some beverages which were ably served by Astra and Will. Great to see Astra back and in good health. Welcome home to Bill Collins after his sojourn to Perth. We trust that you make a full recovery, Bill. Best wishes to Kevin Williams who is traveling to Perth to have knee replacement surgery on 21st July. Men's Tri-Series is on again this coming Sunday 19th July and Ladies' Jill Club will go ahead, weather permitting. Happy travels to Heather, Ian and Sam Jury who are heading north tomorrow. 03.01.2022 The ladies' section of our Club held their opening of the Summer season this afternoon. Ladies' President, Heather Jury, welcomed all who attended and wished them "all the best" for the forthcoming season. A short meeting was held, prior to play, to decide whether we should transition to green slacks/shorts/skorts/skirts and the majority decision was in favour.... Several ladies were unable to attend on Sunday 13th at the Club 2019/20 wind-up and presentation night and Heather presented them with their winnings for various events. To get the bowl rolling (pardon the pun), the ladies had a "spider" which was won by Mara Wheeler with Julie Bunker a close second. Lynne Danks was given the honour of rolling the first bowl to open the Summer season. Fifteen ladies played and the winner was Glenys Hemley, Heather Jury came in 2nd and Bev Taylor 3rd. Unfortunately, rain interrupted play and it was called off just after 2.30 p.m.
