19.01.2022 KEEPING AUSTRALIA SAFE One element of the Department of Home Affairs (the Department) is to work to keep Australia safe and to Counter Violent Extremism. Countering Violent Extremism is about preventing future violence. The Department works in partnership with communities and businesses to address factors that make people vulnerable to extremist influencesincluding recruitment by terrorists. ... It is important to understand violent extremism, so it is possible to intervene early if someone close might be at-risk. This can include friends, family, teachers, coaches, mentors, community police, and social workers. Remember, as a friend, family or community member providing assistance, it is important to look after yourself. There are many places you can go to seek advice or support.
