20.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS: BSMQ has received final nomination allocation for FY20-21 from the Department of Home Affairs. Business Program The BSMQ business program is now OPEN from 10 December 2020, however we will first be assessing EOI’s submitted from the interim period 29 September - 05 October 2020, then from 6 October 9 December 2020, resulting in extended processing times for those submitting EOIs from today.... Please note: not all EOI’s submitted will receive an invitation (for further information, see BSMQ homepage) Skilled Program The BSMQ skilled program remains SUSPENDED while we process the backlog of applications from 29 September 05 October 2020 interim quota opening. Please note: only selected occupations related to the COVID response and recovery will be processed as a priority. If you do not receive an invitation before the 25 December 2020, you will be required to submit a brand new EOI when we reopen our program at the end of January 2021. 06.01.2022 LATEST NEWS REGARDING BSMQ SKILLED PROGRAM: The Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) is currently CLOSED, however, will re-open in the coming weeks in April 2021. When the subclass 491 re-opens, if you submitted an EOI from 1 7 February, a new EOI will not be required. ... The Skilled Nominated (Permanent) visa (subclass 190) is CLOSED and will not re-open in April 2021 as quota will be filled with the current pipeline. The subclass 190 will re-open in the next financial year once new nomination allocation has been received by the Department of Home Affairs. Queensland 491-SBO (Small Business Owners) Pathway is OPEN. Please note: amended requirements for 491-SBO commenced 1 April 2021.

03.01.2022 TIQ Shanghai and BSMQ held an online event in China for Registered Migration Agents on November 27, at which there were 138 attendees and an additional 584 people who watched the webinar recording after the event. TIQ Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner Julie-Anne Nichols covered topics including the currently economic situation in Queensland, key industry sectors and Queensland capabilities, and BSMQ Principal Project Officer Lin Han spoke on business visa option, policy, and COVID-19 visa and investment considerations. An important message delivered to the audience was that Queensland continues to welcome business migrants and foreign direct investment.
