23.01.2022 Chris's Mighty Tonka Loader restoration part 1: So Chris's Mighty Loader has been dismantled, the painted metal pieces into the dip and the plastics into the bleach for cleaning and prepped ready for reassembly process when required. The metal pieces have had the paint removed, metal primed and now spray puttied and ready for rub down and repeat if necessary to get that nice smooth as new finish. :-)

23.01.2022 Chris's Mighty Car Carrier restoration update: Received this image today from Chris of the last restoration we did for him with its decals that he had made for it now on. Looks great!! :-) . Nice shot with the Canadian Mighty Car Carrier Prime Mover behind that we have also restored for Chris on a previous occasion. Cheers mate!! :-)

22.01.2022 Chris's Mighty Tonka Loader restoration part 2: Since the first post we have rubbed back, reputtied and rubbed back again and primed the metal and finally laid on some colour, applied the period specific decals and laid a clear coat over the top. Parts will sit now for a week or so before we commence the rebuild!! :-)

16.01.2022 Custom Mighty Loader restoration part 2: Wow, this one has taken longer than I thought! Have been so busy with the day job, just haven't been able to get near the workshop til this week. Anyway, as you can see it is finished. The mining theme inventory is growing :-) just need a dozer to sit on the low loader! I might just have one sitting on the 'to do' shelf!! :-)

15.01.2022 Custom Tonka Mighty Loader restoration part 1: Another more modern Tonka, still over 20 years old though! I like these ones because I don't feel any guilt for customising them :-) In this case I will be continuing my mining theme but because of a failure of the plastic bucket dump system I will convert this loader into a rubber tyred dozer! Only really seen these on mine sites so perfect. This will be based on the model that is basically a 992 loader ( like the one I operated for a period in the 80's at Dalrymple Bay for Thiess :-) ) converted to a dozer. They had a designation like 863 or 4 or something like that! Anyway it's disassembled and metal pieces are in the "Dip", plastic pieces are cleaned and resprayed ready for reassembly. Stay tuned! :-)

11.01.2022 Mighty Forklift restoration part 2: So the plastics are restored ready for reassembly and some of the metal pieces are primed and puttied ready for colour. The other pieces are still in the "dip". Off on a road trip now for the next ten days so stay tuned for the next post :-)

08.01.2022 Mighty Tonka Forklift restoration part 3: Back from our trip to Gladstone to catch up with family and look after 3 of our beautiful grandchildren and bring my newly acquired motorbike home and we have all the metal pieces primed, puttied and ready for some colour!! :-)

06.01.2022 Mighty Tonka Forklift part 1: Next up on the resto work bench is this orange Mighty Forklift from the mid 70's. This restoration will be back to original '74-'75 spec! :-)

01.01.2022 Mighty Tonka Forklift restoration final post: All pieces in colour, decals on and clear coat applied and reassembly completed. Next up on the restoration bench will be another Tonka from Chris, this time a Mighty Loader to be restored to original 1973 presentation. Stay tuned!! :-)
