18.01.2022 Vale Kate Jennings, trail blazing feminist and writer of incisive prose and poetry. Chosen by Les Murray in 1997 as the second recipient of the Philip Hodgins Memorial Medal. Kate came to Mildura with her father to accept the award and returned again a decade later to discuss her collected essays published by Black Inc. She was a friend of the festival and she will be missed.

02.01.2022 So excited to share this with you all. It’s been a month so far and it’s been exciting and overwhelming. Thanks to friends, family and locals who have been so lovely and supportive. I’m not selling books online yet, but I’ll let you know when that all comes together. Thanks also to Collins Booksellers, and notably the formidable Michelle Keating who has guided me through these early days.

01.01.2022 We will be getting serious and having a lot of fun with food educator Alice Zaslavsky this coming July. We have asked Alice to design a menu focused on the humble, yet profound garlic bulb. There is no one better than Alice to stimulate our taste buds and our minds with the wonders and potential of this ingredient that is the flavour-foundation of so many dishes. In her own words "any self-respecting cook will tell you that when a recipe calls for two garlic cloves, they'll t...riple it and add six." Alice Zaslavsky is a food literacy advocate, resident Culinary Correspondent for ABC News Breakfast and ABC Radio, and creator of Phenomenon, a free digital toolbox helping teachers slip more serves of fresh food into every subject. When she's not on stage hosting international culinary talent, or on screen showing Australians how to find every shortcut to delicious food, she's at home testing recipes and sharing insights online as @aliceinframes. Her best-selling cookbook, In Praise of Veg, a definitive guide to cooking with vegetables has quickly become a staple in Australian kitchens and has already been translated into many languages. It was most recently awarded Best Illustrated Nonfiction title at the Australian Book Industry Awards.
