21.01.2022 Education is vital in helping to release kids from the poverty cycle. The basics - like reading, writing, problem solving and mathematics - are the keys to building their confidence and giving them skills they need to thrive, not just survive.

20.01.2022 One of our earliest concerns about our community in Kisumu was the low levels of literacy that limited our programs to an oral culture. Now that our books are finally here, a massive gap is about to be filled in providing an avenue to limitless learning. Tremendous gratitude to everyone who has given their time and resources to get us to this point! Thank you!

18.01.2022 This weekend, I finally had the opportunity to visit the place our book container will first be dropped. This is the house where the container will pull up and ...unload the boxes that fill up a 20’ container so we can sort who gets what. It’s also the property where we are planning and praying over building a library, since this is the space where roughly 40% of our portion of the books in the container will stay. . Sitting on beautiful Lake Victoria, where the hippos come up to find food at night (a fence is being built) and the views are astounding, sits the newly constructed building for an community infant and child care facility. The building is almost finished with construction, and will be a space for teenage mothers to bring their babies to be cared for so they can continue in school. It will also provide care for abandoned babies, which unfortunately are all too common. They will have nurses and house mothers on 24/7 staff, as well as eventually an incubation room for the very small. For the time being, the library will fill the sitting area, and provide a restful space there, until it is moved into a separate building that we were able to help think through and sketch out. . The family who run this program are a pastor and his wife from Nairobi who also hold church on the property, farm some land, (which shows people that more crops can be farmed there), help to teach and make a difference for those being mistreated or under-cared for, as well as having continual weekly reading clubs in the school, which hopefully will move to the library space when it is ready. They dream of doing much more, and are working step by step to make a difference. . I can’t wait for this container to arrive and to start setting up these bookshelves (we have four months to make them!). ;) . Thank you for making a difference by contributing to the books for this cause. If you’d like to know more about how to help with other building and community needs, please message me, there is a lot to be done and funds needed, and you can make a difference directly to this ministry. 03.01.2022 The amazing Amy Copeland has been putting in some hard work to help us set up our library! This is a dream come true for both our rural and urban communities in Kisumu and Seme. Thanks to our partners at Droplets In A Stream and Global Girls Leading Our World for making this collaboration practically possible.
