23.01.2022 All students in Year 7 have been participating in our hand on ‘SOMA Cube’ Investigation. This investigation is designed to help students Maths skills in relation to regular and irregular shapes, 2D and 3D visualisation and drawing , spatial rotation and problem solving. In the photos below you can see students trying to figure out the 7 blocks that are needed to then create a SOMA cube. Students then use 1cmx1cm wooden blocks and stick these together to then build their own SOMA cube. You can see students working on this activity and some of the finished blocks and a finished SOMA cube. Students will be able to take these home in a couple of weeks and challenge their families to see if they can also create the SOMA cube - as there are over 240 different ways to complete the cube!
