23.01.2022 It’s a NAIDOC WEEK like no other & we couldn’t let it pass without acknowledging the week at Minda, with the support of Multiplex our much loved Elders toured the new Maitland Hospital site followed by a flag raising ceremony, dance demonstrations & lunch. An enjoyable day for all.

01.01.2022 HAPPY NAIDOC WEEK ALL YOU MOB!! Unfortunately the world has changed a great deal since last years NAIDOC week celebrations; forcing us all to undertake the things we do and the way we celebrate a little differently. As we watch and enjoy the film from last years march we remember and pay our respect to our Elders and Warriors who have passed. Today we would of marched once again on the Sovereign lands of the Wonnarua People as a Community. Today we would of spoken of our co...ntinued connection to this land for over 80,000 years and celebrated this years NAIDOC theme, "ALWAYS WAS, ALWAYS WILL BE" together with our Ancestors standing beside us. Instead we will continue to keep our Elders and our community safe from the Covid-19 pandemic that is still taking lives across the world. We will continue to teach our children and the broader community the true history of this country both pre and post contact and how our strength as a People and our intrinsic connection to Country, Lore and Mob has allowed us to not only survive the atrocities of past genocidal policy against us, but has ensured that our connection to our Dreaming and the Land can never be broken. We are the grandchildren of our Ancestors. Our sovereignty has never been ceded and this land Always Was and Always will be Aboriginal Land. Mindaribba Local Aboriginal Land Council would like to take this opportunity to thank you our Brothers and Sisters and many in the broader Maitland and Cessnock community for the support & participation that you have exhibited during NAIDOC Week in previous years. Each year the local community takes the time to participate in NAIDOC activities, a time where we come together to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people. For 2020 we wish to advise that our NAIDOC celebrations will be a private affair, one spent with our Elders in acknowledgement of the importance, resilience and richness that they bring to our lives. We wish you the best in celebrating NAIDOC for and with your Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander staff and colleagues and look forward to a time when we can all celebrate together again. We are the First People, we are the true knowledge holders and historians of this land; and this land ALWAYS WAS ALWAYS WILL BE ABORIGINAL LAND !
01.01.2022 Too deadly A short clip from last Friday’s NAIDOC WEEK celebration & thank you to the staff, volunteers, sponsors & everyone that helped to make the day a success.
