22.01.2022 Trauma bonds are relationships where two people unconsciously re-enact trauma patterns from their childhood in their adult relationships. We learned relationshi...ps through our earliest attachments. The dynamics, the communication, boundaries, coping mechanisms all of this came from what we witnessed. For many of us, love from parents or caregivers meant chaos. Emotional abandonment. Punishment, or shame. These emotions activate nervous system responses + hormonal responses that our mind + body learn early. These strong emotional states become associated with bonding or closeness. When we experience them in adulthood, we become emotionally flooded just as we did as children. For many of us, love is only felt when we have this strong emotional activation. Healing is unlearning. Re-learning security in the body. Observing our patterns with curiosity + non-judgement. We repeat what we know, until we expand our consciousness to create choice #selfhealers

15.01.2022 If we’re not taking the time to contemplate what we want, to write things down and learn new information, then how do we know what’s possible? If we’re not fill...ing our brains with knowledge, then we won’t know the dream job existsor that we can have an out-of-body experience, heal ourselves of disease or chronic pain, or create something out of nothingand therefore, we’re not even aware of the possibility. Knowledge & information are the raw materials of creation. The more knowledge we gainthe more we read or learn about people who have done what we’re setting out to dothe more inspired we are to make the possibility become a reality. This contemplation begins a neurological building process whereby we’re essentially rewiring our brains, causing synapses to fire in new patterns & combinations. Whenever we make our brain work differently, we’re literally changing our mind. That’s because, according to neuroscience, mind is the brain in action. When we ask questions like... What would it be like to have a great job? Who do I have to be in order to create a loving relationship? What would it take to travel the world? our frontal lobe sends signals across the brain, selects existing neural networks (based on the knowledge we’ve gained and the experiences we had) & seamlessly pieces them together to create a new level of mind. When this occurs, we now have a new intention or vision of the future. With the intention locked in our frontal lobe, the new thought becomes a new possibility or potential in the quantum field. A certain percentage of people who do this will embrace an elevated emotion & thus be inspired by their vision of the future. In that moment, from a biological perspective, their brain & body moves from living in the past to living in the future. The clear intention, combined with a heightened emotion begins to give the body a taste of what’s possible in the future. The bottom line is that if you’re serious about creating a new future, then you better be engaged in the process of creating a vision of the future, because if you’re not, then that means you’re more in love with your past than you are with your future. It's that simple. See more

15.01.2022 If you find yourself more ‘jumpy’ than others, you experience fear in certain situations where there isn’t actually a direct threat to your safety and it leaves you wondering why you feel scared when you’re not in any real danger, you are not alone or imagining it! There’s a very good biological reason for your reaction. Fear is a hard-wired emotion in your brain and nervous system and you’ve ever experienced trauma your nervous system is doing its best to keep you safe. https://mindfulsynergi.com/fear-is-a-hard-wired-emotion-in/

12.01.2022 WHAT ARE TRIGGERS AND EMOTIONAL FLASHBACKS? A trigger is something that happens either internally or externally that activates an emotional flashback. Triggers can often be subliminal and outside conscious awareness and therefore can be difficult to recognise. However, it is crucial to recovery to identify your triggers. So how do we recognise when we have been triggered and are in an emotional flashback? ... You might feel very small There may be the urge to hide and withdraw Feeling fragile Feelings of agitation and being on edge A sudden lack of any self esteem Your inner critic may become louder both of self and others Your emotional reactions are larger than warranted for the situation. The earlier we begin to notice and recognise our triggers and that we are in an emotional flashback the quicker we can take the steps required to manage the flashback. What strategies do you use to overcome flashbacks? Walker. 11.01.2022 PTSD vs Complex PTSD, What's the difference? To meet the criteria for PTSD the symptoms have to be ongoing for more than a month after the trauma or go away and reappear months or even years later. ... PTSD is when an individuals physiology and psychology have been disrupted and are causing issues in four areas: re-experiencing the trauma with memories, flashbacks, or dreams, avoidance of reminders, engaging in numbing strategies, and hyper-arousal and hyper-vigilance. Complex PTSD refers to additional symptomatology beyond the criteria required for a PTSD diagnosis. Additional criteria for Complex PTSD include an impact on the individuals identity and self-worth, disruption to the ability to identify and regulate emotion, and difficulty in forming and maintaining healthy, trusting relationships. Complex PTSD usually also includes further symptoms of dissociation, physical illness, and loss of meaning and purpose. If you are relating to any of the above symptoms then don't continue to suffer alone. There are effective treatments for both of these conditions. At Mindful Synergi we are trauma informed and trained in modalities specifically designed to treat both PTSD and Complex PTSD. Don't wait another day. 09.01.2022 EMOTIONAL AVOIDANCE It is natural to want to avoid emotion that is uncomfortable. But what is the cost of that? Unfortunately we are unable to selectively avoid only the uncomfortable emotions. When we numb, avoid, and ignore them we also lose contact with the pleasurable emotions such as joy, pleasure, gratitude, peace and calm. Too often I see people in my rooms who have been taught from a very young age that so called negative emotion is unacceptable, weak and to be avo...ided at all costs. However, what happens is a deadening of life, loss of contact with any feeling at all including pleasure, alienated from self and others. If you think you don't want to feel you are mistaken. These people struggle just as much as those that think they feel too much. Emotion is neither good or bad it just is, it is our own interpretation that evaluates it as either good or bad, and in doing so we set ourselves up for difficulty managing our emotions. Instead just begin to see emotions as data! Information that guides us to what to do next. When we don't judge ourselves for having emotion, and instead practice acceptance and compassion we open up to the full array of emotion both comfortable and uncomfortable, and bring a sense of aliveness to our lives. More able to connect to ourselves and others. Discomfort is the price of admission to a meaningful life. . . . . . . #counselling #complexPTSD #psychology #emdr #recovery #psychotherapy #traumainformed #traumarecovery #centralcoastnsw #mindbodysoul #mindbodyconnection

06.01.2022 Brene Brown said "Shame needs three things to grow exponentially, secrecy, silence and judgement!" How true are these words. As we watch the growing voice of oppressed and abused women rise up around the globe, we are witnessing the change that happens when we speak our truth and stop the silence of shame. The same is true for the individual. When we find the courage to share our story with another who provides empathy and understanding... Shame no longer holds the individual... captive and frozen, they are released from the torment and able to move more freely, and open up to opportunities of connection and authenticity. . . . . #trauma #endthestigma #meto #ComplexPTSD #brenébrown #connecting #counselling #psychotherapy #traumarecovery #endthesilence #listeningtoshame #thepowerofvulnerability See more

02.01.2022 It’s not what’s wrong with you, it is about what happened to you... addiction is not a choice it is a response to emotional pain and needs to be recognized as an attempt to emotionally regulate.
