22.01.2022 Are you in a health care related industry? Or caring for a loved one? Healthcare starts with Self-Care. Unfortunately, the nature of the caring workforce is they tend to be in 'burnout' long before becoming aware of their exhaustion. Add to this a pandemic and, well, the emotional/physical/mental toll can be striking. Thankfully, the NT has been a bit protected from the pandemic. Nonetheless, research suggests the risk of occupational burnout for NT care-related workers is at... risk of being acute due to a transient workforce, higher percentage of employee 'churn' (compared to sounthern states) and geography, isolation and cultural complexities, to name a few. How do we keep our carers productive & well? Neuroscience findings suggests mindfulness creates physical & structural changes to the brain improving resilience and compassion for others. Our brain is trainable, like a muscle. And it has never been a more important time to care for it. 22.01.2022 I know a lot of people are struggling right now. Perhaps you are in lock down with kids, home schooling, or dealing with fires and poor air quality. Or maybe your are lamenting about the amazing minds and talent we have lost this year. 2020 is a kick in the guts. The #1 reason I hear as to why people don't meditate is that they 'don't have time'. My response, 'you don't have time NOT to'. It is the brain training you need to better respond to the ups and downs of life which are coming thick and fast. I have done a lot of training programs and this is one of the best. Staff from Alice Springs, Katherine & Darwin came to the beautiful facilities at Novotel Darwin Airport, learning practical tools to reduce stress, increase focus and improve collaboration/communication for organ...isational and personal productivity. 05.01.2022 According to neuroscience, the brain is like a muscle. What you think, do, and pay attention can change its structure and function. So choosing what you pay attention to is more important now than perhaps ever in history as our attention is a commodity. So something as simple as even ‘gratitude’ while it sound all woo-hoo and airy fairy actually research shows can help with mood and feelings of joy. I always thought it was painfully cheesy but I@am trying to do it each night and my dreams have become more positive and situations that used to fog me I am able to switch to a more positive perspective.
