25.01.2022 Knowing where to begin in running your very own retreat can be really super daunting. I know many feel a big pang of imposter syndrome when it comes to running our businesses. Us humble lot, and sensitive souls who run these soul inspired wellbeing businesses. Do I really have a business? Would any of my clients want to come away with me anyway?? Am I good enough?! ( err #relate). We all know the feeling that many days, you feel like is actually anyone reading your posts, ...getting what you are doing. As small business owners, sometimes we get so stuck in the every day that we forget the big picture. The picture that shimmied us along to start up alone in the first place. You know that old vision board with pictures on it of faraway lands and our favourite Brene Brown quotes. The one with our life dreams pinned to our noticeboard. Sometimes we need to get back to that and remind ourselves what we want for our business and in turn ourselves. We need to have goals and dreams which in turn set our behaviour and challenges for the year. We have to dream and in that dreaming, as many purposeful business owners, we often dream about maybe, just maybe, running our retreat. So many of you that contact me talk about thinking about this for years but you just don’t know where to start. Maybe you aren’t sure if you are ready, but you just want to talk through your idea and be put totally in the right track . That is where our 1.5 hour LITTLE SEED session comes in. Perfectly made in a small bite size chunk for all your dreamers out there to formulate your retreat idea into a a super, uber successful retreat concept for your business. Feel free to DM us for more details.

21.01.2022 This is my happy face after my fabulous meeting this morning with someone super exciting, here in little old Christchurch. I can't share who yet, but needless to say.... BIG things are happening. And just excited to enjoy Christchurch's new stunning new wellness space @thewelder. All those hanging plants and beautiful furniture...so much cane envy right now. Did anyone say, New Moon? X

21.01.2022 LIVE with Dr Jodie Fleming and Jo from Mindful Tribes - What it's really like collaborating with us!

21.01.2022 What a total surprise in my inbox today!!!! I actually had to read and then read again... So delighted to announce that Mindful Tribes has been awarded the "Best Bespoke Wellness Operator for 2020 - Australia New Zealand'' by Luxlife Magazine in the UK. I am so totally chuffed that my hard working Retreat Leaders, ground operations and little dream has been recognised in this way! We were up against so many lovely businesses, so I am feeling very humble today. So, now to ...find out if I need to go to London to collect it. Tehe! X

21.01.2022 Sometimes, the weather is just too good to stay inside. There is a danger in running your business that you forget why you started it in the first place. And there is a myth in the wellness industry that it is all just so, well mindful and chilled. My week is busy. Very. So even more reason to grab a book and your tea and head to the garden for a retreat content planning session ( with myself).

21.01.2022 Cozying up to the rain rolling in over the hill and onto our office window this morning. Feeling connected with nature at this very moment. When it rains, our busy minds find calm. Seasonal effective disorder or SAD) causes depression symptoms in some people during the gloomy winter months. The lesser known reverse of seasonal effective disorder refers to feeling depressed during the brighter summer months.... If these weather-related disorders exist, could there be a scientific explanation for rain positively affecting mental health? Maybe the Pitter-patter lullaby of raindrops gives us all that meditative and calming effect. But for now.. back to work.

17.01.2022 With nearly a sold out retreat for our 7 Day / 7 Night Nature & Nuture Retreat to Sri Lanka on 29 March 2020, if you are still pondering, don't think for too much longer as we do only have 3 places left. So pumped that the incredible health Psychologist & wellness author, Dr Jodie Fleming is hosting again for this, her second retreat with us, to beautiful Sri Lanka. And for those that would like to know, I will also be joining. Lucky me! We will have stunning daily workshop c...ontent around the benefits of forest therapy. We shall be ( gentle) walking the Knuckles Mountain range, visiting the temples of Dambulla and Sigiri, fine dining at Ashburnam tea Estate and enjoying yoga in the coolness of our open air shala. And enjoying a wine or too as always. We have guests join us from all over the world and this retreat group is no exception. Either book through us directly or your travel agent. http://www.mindfultribes.com.au/retreats/drjodiefleming

17.01.2022 Poipoia te kakano kia puawai 'Nuture the seed and it will blossom'. The Maori language wasn't something that necessarily drew me to moving back to NZ, but since being here it has surprised me no end. The spirituality of the spoken word, the integration into everyday society, the pride that non Maori feel in this incredible culture is strong, bold and beautiful. I see it daily. And I love nothing more than picking up my daughter from school and watching the Year 5's practici...ng their Kapa Haka next to the big oak tree in the playground. ( It is so moving it actually brings me, the sensitive soul that I am, to tears). This beautiful phrase was written at the end of my daughters school newsletter today. It struck me, how proud I am to be here. But also how poignant that line is to everyday life. We do need to nuture ourselves and give ourselves the self care that we deserve. But somehow between attending school and growing up we sometimes lose ourselves to everyday tasks and worries. I also think this lovely phrase, also applies to even working on any project, and our case the success of running our beautiful retreat holidays. My Retreat Leaders work SO tirelessly hard to create solid group numbers even before the retreat departs. It is hard filing a retreat, that is for sure! It takes strategy, time and a whole lot of passion. But as our Head Teacher said today 'Nuture the seed and it will blossom' and I believe that wholeheartedly.

17.01.2022 I love a good furniture shift around at home. Nothing says, 'I love my home' and makes me jump for joy more than the 'ta-dah' moment of spending a squaly, rainy Saturday afternoon moving that sofa there, this rug, that way round. Running this lovely business, it is so very easy to have the lines blurred between home life and work life, especially at the weekends. So finding time for my own mindful practice, is oh so important! Burying yourself deep in a book, moving your bed...room around.. it's all part of being in your own flow. So what are you guys upto this weekend? https://eco-age.com/ideas-for-weekends-indoors

16.01.2022 A gorgeous catch up with Dr Jodie Fleming and myself, talking all things Sri Lanka. Always so great chatting with you Jodie and this our second Mindful Tribes retreat together.

12.01.2022 Being a Retreat planner isn’t always easy. Nope it is not. But being in a role where you are the fairy behind the scenes polishing, organizing, dreaming, visualizing, problem solving, risk assessing, negotiating, creating and ‘’spreadsheet-ing’’ big time, is only a little bit of a glimpse of what this lovely business entails. Yes it is glamorous in the end, but a whole lot goes into this. Sometimes, people just don’t understand the need for a retreat organisor. Like the time ...I spoke to an old colleague and mindset coach who just didn’t see the point in collaborating. ‘’All I have to do is book some accommodation, so I don’t understand your value?’ Right, ok. No worries. Sigh. It is not something we do to try and change minds, but we can try and help change perception of the absolute enormity of the role. Then, we have days like Friday afternoon, when I had the most magical conversation with a new and super, super exciting collaboration with a very amazing wellbeing ambassador for us for 2020 and, yikes, she just totally GOT IT! She totally understood that in order for her to be ‘’available’’ to provide beautiful workshop content in a stunning destination, it was so necessary to have a busy little me in the background making that happen. She got it completely. Oh how happy I am! Happy Monday X

11.01.2022 I have just been reminiscing about our time in Vietnam early last year for firstly our NOURISH + FLOURISH Retreat and then back again two months later with our LOTUS RISING Retreat. Such a special place for us to begin our touring week through Vietnam and all with delicious well being workshops and yoga by our gorgeous Retreat Leaders. Love the fact that I am blatantly better at balancing my body at yoga than I am at balancing my phone whilst riding a bike! X

11.01.2022 As many of you might know, I am just a little bit fussy when it comes to anything creative. The frustrated designer in me I am afraid. Getting it right, makes me feel happy. I am 'that person' that will happily sit with blank walls for months or years, waiting for the right artwork or photo to be the lucky one chosen to adorn our decor. So, it will be no surprise to you all that I am particularly pernickity when it comes to Mindful Tribes and our beautiful brand. It is so im...portant that we are represented in the right way through stunning imagery. We have been lucky enough to have most of retreats escorted by really fabulous, professional and in some cases, pretty well known, photographers. You know, the ones that fly the world with Rock stars. The ones who's world is very different to mine! I like to think I am pretty good at photography myself, on my Iphone, choosing filters... then THIS happened! Thank you so much to Peta Jolley from @greatoceanhealingcentre for being our photographer in situ on our stunning Conscious Living retreat to Bali in May this year. You have captured our vibrant, welcoming, fun and everyday vibe beautifully. Thank you so much. See more

06.01.2022 Totally spoilt locally here in Christchurch with deelish brekkie @poshporridge. Thanks for making mornings beautiful + delicious + healthy!

04.01.2022 I don't know about you, but sometimes opening up your work email in the morning is always like jumping into a rather large ocean of requests, answers from suppliers and admin! SO! I had to blink twice and take a big sip of peppermint tea when I read that Mindful Tribes had been nominated for the ''2020 Travel & Tourism Awards'' in London, UK for the leading travel magazine, Lux Life. I won't buy my dress or book my plane ticket yet, but feeling very proud and humbled that o...ur little wellness retreat story is far reaching. Jumping up and down as we speak. Keep me in your thoughts guys. And... ..watch this space as they say!

01.01.2022 If you are a travel buyer or personal travel manager please join me for a remote coffee and a catch up to hear all about Mindful Tribes escorted well being tours, this Wednesday 20th Nov at: 10.30am AEST 12.30pm NZ time 9.30PM GMT ( Tues 19th Nov )... Hope to see you then! Jo X
