25.01.2022 We could not be more excited to be extending our annual mindshare exhibition across ALL THREE ADELAIDE CITY LIBRARIES next month. There are so many great artists involved in this project, sharing both their artwork and lived experience in conversation. Feature artist Daria Healy-Koljanin says:... Everything I embody comes through my creative practice. Everything I am is a complex mix of mental illness, trauma and shifting identity. Creativity to me is like breathing and if Im not doing it in some form I feel stagnant. It helps me unpack my mind and calm it. By exhibiting extensively across Adelaide City this October, we at mindshare hope to create space for conversations around mental health and wellbeing. We believe that sharing and listening to each others storiesin whatever unique form they takeis key to building empathy and understanding. This years mindshare Group Exhibition includes works from Life Without Barriers Living Arts program, Neami Nationals Neami Arts, and practicing artists connected to mindshare. Poster artwork by the amazing Bel Short. Lucky to live in this state, and hope we can continue to support the arts through this difficult time - for all our sakes!

02.01.2022 "Anxiety is a thick black viscous substance that thrums beneath the skin.... It seeps into the heart and weighs it down. Its tendrils wrap themselves around the lungs and ribcage and squeeze. It is grease for the wheels of the mind that never slow down. It is the stuff that sticks in jaws and causes teeth to crush and grind. It seeps out of the skin as tears and sweat and mucus and becomes shimmering water once it oxidises. Sometimes it runs hot and turns saliva into venom and unleashes words that were coiled in the brain. And just as a bee gives its last breaths to sting so does the venom cool and coagulate until the words cant be brought back and the body goes cold and it gets dark in the sarcophagus wrapped around the self. From sun rise to sun set the black liquid buzzes and hums as it vibrates a constant noise." 01.01.2022 We shake off the rain and breathe in the cute and cosy setting. It immediately feels welcoming, like an indoor garden party with bright, white walls, rows of pale green chairs and fairy lights strung across the ceiling to add a warm evening glow. An eclectic group of people mingle through the room, carefree and chatty. There’s a bar at the back, free Mojo kombucha and an air of sophisticated relaxation I’d all but forgotten in these Covid-heavy times. Thank you to Jo Wither...s who reviewed Poetry Prescribed on Friday eve of Mental Health Week. This beautiful piece is testament to the joy in collaboration, coming together, and of course creative expression.
