14.01.2022 We have been doing lots of fish activities this term, so how about making your very own rainbow fish? All you need is: A paper plate Scissors ... A marker Some glue A mixture of coloured patty pans! Once you have made your fish with Kelly, take it for a pretend swim around the room! You could even use it in Mini Maestros class for any one of our Fish themed songs, or play at home when singing 1,2,3,4,5 Once I caught a fish alive!

12.01.2022 First day back today was so much fun! It was just so amazing so see the kids sitting in front of me! Even though I knew I was seeing them in real life, it felt like a dream! My 4-5s were especially over the moon to come back. One girl flopped down on her mat, laid on her back like a starfish and screamed "THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIIIIIIFE!" It filled my heart with so much joy and made all the grown-ups crack-up laughing. Then for the rest of the lesson, all the kids wou...ld call out "can we do it again?" After every activity! They were SO sad when it was time to finish, all saying it went too quick! - Maddy Kelly

11.01.2022 Happy Chinese New Year Everyone! 2021 is Year of the Ox "The Ox is the second of all zodiac animals. According to one myth, the Jade Emperor said the order would be decided by the order in which they arrived to his party. The Ox was about to be the first to arrive, but Rat tricked Ox into giving him a ride. Then, just as they arrived, Rat jumped down and landed ahead of Ox. Thus, Ox became the second animal. In Chinese culture, the Ox is a valued animal. Because of its... role in agriculture, positive characteristics, such as being hardworking and honest, are attributed to it." 05.01.2022 First day back was like I was given a giant vitamin pill filled with explosive joy. I had one little boy in my 2-3 class today who was so happy to be back that when I asked what action he wanted to do for the hello song, he just went into a frenzy moving from one action after another. I wish there was a way we can rewind and play the whole day over and over again! - Janet Collins Mini Maestros Port Melbourne/Elwood

02.01.2022 Nurturing Confident Learners at Home You can nurture confident learners at home by playing peek a boo, at all ages in early childhood! The earliest version of peekaboo is simple looming, where the carer announces they are coming with their voice before bringing their face into close focus for the baby. As the baby gets older they can enjoy the adult hiding and reappearing, but after a while they can graduate to take control by hiding and reappearing themselves.
