08.01.2022 Vance Kelly is an integral part of the team responsible for delivering the Geoscience Data Modernisation Project. The Geoscience Information Team fits within the Geological Survey of Queensland (GSQ) and plays a vital role in how the State’s geological data is received, managed, and supplied back to its end users. As the Principal Data Manager, I help the team follow best practice in managing the GSQ’s data, implement process to improve data quality and work across teams to ...ensure the various parts of the system integrate. Vance is nearing completion of the review of information that describes the long history of statutory industry reports submitted by resource tenure holders throughout Queensland. The resource regulation update in October 2020 established a 5-year confidentiality term on a range of industry reports that were previously held confidential until a tenure holder released their permit. As a result, we had to update our system to describe reports in accordance with the Acts and Regulation and to ensure all our new date calculations were correct. This has allowed for the automation of report open filing." 20,000 historic company reports are now available to industry. This newly available information will help operators in Queensland better understand our geology and resources - driving better exploration and production outcomes. https://linkdigital.com.au//geoscience-data-modernisation/ See more

04.01.2022 We are amazed by your knowledge on new economy minerals - I hope this new one is a little more challenging! What metal is this? Named after a villain from Greek Mythology. ... A rare, ductile blue grey metal that is highly resistant to corrosion and highly conductive to heat and electricity. Sometimes used as a substitute for platinum. It has a MOH’s hardness of 6.5. Australia is a major producer of this metal. Considered a ‘technology critical’ element used in mobile phones, DVD players, video game systems and computers. See more
