22.01.2022 All the best to Trevor Cranwell, Michael Catford & Phil Langhorn, who are currently on their way to the South East, to help combat the Yumali fire tomorrow.

22.01.2022 This weekend sees the end of Daylight Saving, which is also a good time to change the batteries in your smoke alarm. If you are staying at home and doing some handywork, you could add this to the list.

21.01.2022 Key messaging for bushfire safety in SA given COVID restrictions From midnight tonight, a six-day initial stage of ‘circuit breaker’ restrictions will be implem...ented to protect the South Australian community from the spread of COVID-19. These restrictions may affect how you follow CFS bushfire safety advice. Review your Bushfire Survival Plan using the up-to-date advice on the SA Health website www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/COVID-19 UNDER LOCKDOWN During this initial restriction period, you can only leave your home for limited reasons. This includes during a bushfire emergency or if your home is unsafe. Some relocation destinations in Bushfire Safer Places will not be available due to these COVID-19 restrictions. - Cinemas and other public venues will be closed. - Visits to shopping centres are for essential food shopping only If you plan to stay with relatives or friends when you relocate to a Bushfire Safer Place, consider alternative arrangements if your plan is to stay with elderly relatives or immuno-compromised relatives or friends. This will reduce the risk of exposing vulnerable people to COVID-19. If you are in self-quarantine or self-isolation due to COVID-19, you can leave your home if you are in an emergency or your home is unsafe but try to get back into self-isolation as soon as you safely can. During an emergency, if you need to attend an emergency relief centre or a Bushfire Last Resort Refuge, you need to stay outside, alert emergency services (e.g. SAPOL, relief authorities at the location etc) and follow instructions. You must ensure you advise emergency services that you have been forced to leave self-quarantine or self-isolation due to the emergency and that: - you are a close contact of a known COVID-19 case - you have recently tested positive to COVID-19 or if - you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or - you are in self-quarantine because you have recently returned from interstate. UNDER RESTRICTIONS State government restrictions are in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This may affect how you follow CFS bushfire safety advice. Leaving early during COVID-19 will be a little different this summer. While COVID-19 restrictions are in place, you can leave your home during an emergency or if your home is unsafe. Consider the following in your leave early plan to protect yourself and your loved ones from COVID-19: During COVID-19 restrictions you may travel if you are doing so as part of your bushfire plan. If you are unwell or have symptoms, isolate yourself from others and ensure you always wear a face covering and get tested as soon as possible. Add to your 'Emergency Kit' - Additional face masks - Hand sanitiser - more than 60% alcohol - Antibacterial wipes Follow SA Health COVID-19 advice - Wear a face mask - Practise good hygiene. Wash or sanitise your hands when you enter someone else’s home, if possible - Do not shake hands, hug or kiss as a greeting - Maintain physical distancing, keep at least 1.5 metres away from others

18.01.2022 Merry Christmas from all the members of the Minlaton CFS Brigade! We hope you have an enjoyable Christmas, and stay safe! Here are some photos of our Christmas Tea held Monday night at the Minlaton Bowling Club. A wonderful way to recognise the contribution our members have made over the past year.

16.01.2022 Just after 1pm this afternoon, Minlaton & Curramulka CFS crews were called to a Tractor and Spreader fire, approximately 15km North of Minlaton. En-route, thick black smoke was showing, which prompted an early upgrade of alarm, which meant Brentwood and Port Victoria were responded, along with Yorketown Country Fire Service to supply us with additional foam, to effectively extinguish the Tractor. Once we arrived on scene, crews quickly got to work to control the fire, reducin...g some damage to the Spreader. Unfortunately the Tractor was a total loss. Once the foam arrived on scene, crews in Breathing Apparatus quickly ensured the Tractor & Spreader were extinguished. The operator of the Tractor was safely able to exit the Tractor before it was fully engulfed with flames.

16.01.2022 When putting your clocks forward tonight, don’t forget to change your smoke alarm batteries!

14.01.2022 Are you aged over 18, retired, or looking for something interesting to do? We are looking to find mature aged people, who are still physically capable, to become Air Operations Support personnel, primarily working from the Minlaton Airstrip. You will be required to complete a 'Work Safely Around Aircraft' course, and then provide air operations support by re-filling the water bombers when they land. The committment for this position will not be a big one, but will be an oppor...tunity to assist the community during major fire events. All training, and travel costs to attend courses, are covered by the CFS, and all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is provided. If you are interested in this Air Operations Support role, please contact Stewart Germaine via phone at 0438 845 191, or via email at [email protected]. 05.01.2022 We couldn't miss the chance of taking a photo of our 34P Appliance in front of the sunset whilst at an incident south of Parsons Beach. At the time of the photo, 8.15pm, our crews were assisting the Stansbury RAA crew of Peter, Darren and Verity from Dalrymple Motors, to load a vehicle onto their tow truck. The vehicle, a LandCruiser Prado, rolled on the beach shortly before 6pm. All five occupants were treated by Minlaton & Yorketown SA Ambulance Service crews.... Our crews were supported by the Brentwood SA Country Fire Service and Yorketown South Australia Police.
