25.01.2022 When you're running so fast, your front legs go one side and your back legs go another...

24.01.2022 I put this on my private page for my overseas friends who are wondering about the sheer size and scale of the fires in Australia. This is just a small snapshot from NSW Rural Fire Service - Fires Near Me this evening (Sunday 22 December), showing the fires near Sydney. The big fire at the top is approximately 125kms wide.... This is only a very small percentage of the fires burning throughout NSW, and Australia. We are up to 2.8 million hectares burnt in NSW alone - the size of North Korea. My family live near Millthorpe, about 86km as the crow flies, from the fire at Lithgow. When the wind blows from the east, we are blanketed in smoke. Air quality is described as 'Hazardous' above 200 units. Orange is sitting at 1215 units at the moment. But smoke over here is nothing compared to what people are facing in the actual fire fronts, some who have lost everything, including their lives. It's a challenging time.

23.01.2022 It's the eve of Christmas, and while some of us might be dreading a big smooch from a distance relative who hasn't "...seen you since you were THIS big...!", it's also a time to remember those who aren't as fortunate, or who are still out on the clock. A particular mention to all those affected by the bushfires, and all those who have come to your aid. It's a time to be thinking of others, and giving more to those that need, and instead of those that just want. Time with som...eone means so much more than a last minute trinket soon forgotten. Thank you to all my clients and friends throughout the year - everyone of you is very much appreciated. I've loved working with you. Have a very safe and happy time over the festive season, and all the very best for our new decade. May the absolute very best of your past, be the worst of your future. Merry Christmas!

23.01.2022 I was once again privileged to spend a few days with Team Rubicon Australia in South Australia, including Kangaroo Island, recently. This incredible organisation changes lives, both for those being assisted, and those doing the assisting. Please take just five minutes to watch this report on 7.30. More information for anyone who wants to become involved is on Team Rubicon Australia’s website.

22.01.2022 Terms & Conditions have turned up again. The estimated production budget for the upcoming James Bond film, No Time to Die, is around $250 million. It is predicted to earn around $1 billion.... Yet it wants creatives to submit their work for nothing, in order to promote the film: Upon submitting UGC to the Services, you hereby grant to Talenthouse a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, copy, transmit, translate, reproduce, adapt, modify, publish, publicly distribute, publicly display, publicly perform, reformat, excerpt (in whole or in part), create derivative works of and otherwise exploit such UGC (including without limitation any copyrights, trademarks or other intellectual property contained therein): (i) for promotional purposes of the Website and Services; (ii) to display and make available to the public any UGC that you submit; and (iii) to permit users and the public to copy and share any UGC you submit via Third-Party Sites to which links are provided on the Website (e.g., Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest) solely for non-commercial purposes, without modification or removal of any copyright or other proprietary notices. 18.01.2022 Social distancing: when you can't hug a human, hug a buffalo. Especially if it's a bull named Rainbow. A few weeks ago I caught up with Emma and Eric from Buff Love at Myponga, South Australia, and their adorable buffalo herd. Who couldn't love a buffalo?

15.01.2022 The Dog on the Tuckerbox has nothing on my dog. PS: Do I need to add that this is a normal shopping quantity for our household? #ToiletPaperCrisis

15.01.2022 As photographers we, now more than ever, need to remember the content we create has value, and not give our photos away to multinational corporations with ...no budget, but we’ll give you exposure. This also includes you, the general public. Value the content you create. Look around you... look at all the photos. Now imagine the stories, articles, advertisements, without them. Value your content. Don’t give it away on a promise of exposure. ... The organisation you hand it to is going to make money from your work. And that’s fine, but they shouldn’t expect to acquire other people’s content for nothing. It’s time to expose the myth of exposure once and for all.

14.01.2022 If you are in NSW, and need assistance with emergency fodder, water, animal care, etc., during and after the fires, please see the post from NSW Department of Primary Industries below. There are people working around the clock during this incredibly difficult time to help wherever they can. Please share this post, so people are aware of what assistance is available.

13.01.2022 On 31 December 2019, our quick family holiday to the South Coast took a different turn when we realised we had to head to the beach at Malua Bay in order to seek shelter from the approaching fire. Below are some photos from that day. In all honesty, we all felt safe on the beach, but acknowledge we weren't worrying about any other friends, family, or property that we had an emotional interest in. Our hearts go out to those that have lost so much. Many thanks to all those invo...lved with the coordination of the day, including Malua Bay Surf Club, the SES, NSW Police Force, NSW Rural Fire Service, and so many others. Please note: all photos are copyright Rachel Gordon. Feel free to share, not download. Contact for media use. Rachel Gordon 2019

10.01.2022 UPDATE: Apparently he’s Harry Houdini reincarnated, as he managed to escape overnight. He was well fed, so hopefully he’ll make his way home. Anyone in the Millthorpe/Blayney area missing this fellow? He was strolling across our paddocks this afternoon. Please contact me if you recognise him.... #millthorpe #lostdog

10.01.2022 Some lovely photographers at the AIPP have been quietly working on a project to help victims of the Australian Bushfires. It is their hope that this project will empower photographers and videographers with tangible ways to give of their talents to help families. It is also hoped the project can provide a support to photographers and videographers that have lost assets, and business has suffered as a result of this disaster through mentoring, business support, and other mea...ns. Project Recapture will be offering photo restoration of fire damaged prints, photo sessions and prints to families and firefighters that have been affected, commercial photography for business and business owners, photo business coaching through the hard times, and an Art Gallery of stunning prints to raise money for the cause. If you are a photographer, videographer, or editor, and you'd like to join us on this project, please sign up on the website: www.projectrecapture.com.au If you know anyone that could benefit from the services, please direct them to the website to request help. This is a collaborative effort between the AIPP, The Heart Project and Mark Rossetto Coaching. Huge thanks to the incredible team that has worked tirelessly setting this up in record time. You are all fantastic. Karen Alsop, Mark Rossetto, Melanie Birt, Kris Anderson, Jodie Andrews, Robyn Campbell, and Naomi Reiter. #projectrecapture

06.01.2022 Driving through the Blue Mountains the evening of Sunday 15 December - fires south from Echo Point and north, looking at Bells Line. Thinking of all those affected, from volunteers, employed firefighters, your families, and those who have lost so much. Rachel Gordon 2019

04.01.2022 A little bit of website building for a local rugby club in Orange. If you're looking to play rugby union in Orange, Orange City Rugby Club (Orange City-Rugby and Orange City Junior Rugby) is fantastic. They are a family friendly club, welcoming boys, girls, men, and women. My son and daughter have had a ball (pardon the pun) playing rugby in the junior teams, with both having enjoyed success in Premiership winning teams.... https://www.orangecityrugby.com.au/

04.01.2022 COVID-19 and the advice to not touch our faces for our own good. The moment dogs all over the world have been waiting for... For the rest of us:... Wash your hands regularly with soap and water for 20 seconds. Cover your mouth with a tissue/hanky or the crook of your elbow if you cough or sneeze. Self-isolate if you’ve been travelling. Be mindful of others. Be sensible. Be considerate. Rachel Gordon

04.01.2022 Malua Bay Beach, 31 December 2019, printed and in the mail. Looking at photos on screens is one thing, but it is printing that really brings them to life (and longevity) in a way that digital means never do. This photo is printed on Canson Infinity Fine Art paper (in this case, 100% cotton, Edition Etching Rag), using Epson Ultrachrome HD Ink.... I love the fact that my printer sits behind me, and I can have an archival quality print in my hands at a moment’s notice. Rachel Gordon 2019

03.01.2022 Everyone needs some humour in the face of adversity. At the time I originally posted this, we hadn’t the spectacularly forecasted rain just yet (though there was thunder in the background as I wrote this), but we hadn’t lost our sense of humour... Two brothers. Two countries. Same day. ... UPDATE: by this afternoon we have had over 41 ml on our little farm at Millthorpe.

03.01.2022 Many of you are familiar with the antics of my cattle dog, Soda, through his Instagram page (@ thesodastream). Watch as my talented friend Naomi of Naomi Reiter Photography brings Soda to life in a beautiful water colour.
