25.01.2022 Puppies everywhere!!!

25.01.2022 What fabulous weather we have for the Rugby Coaching Clinic at Waratah today!

25.01.2022 The number of vehicles parking in the No Stopping zone directly outside the front gate and then U turning across the double lines in Woodford St both before and after school has reached an alarming level in the last few weeks. Both of these times are extremely busy with lots of students entering leaving the school all at once. The No Stopping zone and the double yellow lines help all drivers to have a clear field of vision when travelling past the school and it is imperative that the road rules are strictly adhered to in order to ensure everyone is safe. It is also really important that everyone uses the pedestrian crossing and obeys the Crossing Guards who are on duty every morning and afternoon. Please do your part to help keep everyone safe!

22.01.2022 Exciting News!! It is with a great deal of excitement that we have received the news that Minmi PS P&C has been successful in obtaining a NSW Community Building Partnership Grant! This program is awarded by the NSW Government as an investment in infrastructure projects that deliver positive social, environmental and recreational outcomes while promoting community participation, inclusion and cohesion. As a result of their hard work and united vision, our P&C have been award...ed a grant of $69234 the largest grant awarded this year in the Wallsend Electorate!!! This is an amazing effort by our small band of tireless committee members. Just to put this into perspective, $69234 is approximately 23 years of canteen profits or 70 Bunnings BBQ days. This grant will be utilised to build an outdoor learning space in our playground. This space will include timber and sandstone seating, artificial turf, a raised timber platform, a soft fall version of our mascot, Minnie, and be covered with an enormous shade cloth. This space will be utilised by classes during learning time, students during breaks, and the community in general, when our school participates in the ‘Share our Space’ Program during upcoming holidays. It will be a much needed and fabulous asset for our lovely little school. The application process for the grant involved lots of time, discussion and organisation. We are very grateful for the passion and dedication shown by our P&C as they continue to work together to support our school. We can’t wait to use our new, beautiful space!

21.01.2022 'It hasn’t been easy, but look what we’ve produced!' Thank you to all our students, teachers, school staff and parents and carers who have made this a year to remember. See you next year for #FirstDay2021! #LoveWhereYouLearn *Posted by the NSW Department of Education*

15.01.2022 There is room for everyone on our broom! 2/3 have been studying books written by Julia Donaldson. We have taken inspiration from the front cover of 'Room on the Broom' and re-created this. First we looked in detail at the front cover and used these colours and tones to colour in the characters.... Then we attached our moon and filled in the sky with stars. Lastly, we glued it all together and attached the witches broom. See more

12.01.2022 Check out Kindergarten's 'Pete Cromer inspired birds'! First, they used oil pastels to provide their birds with a 'pop' of colour. It was suggested to Kindergarten that they choose between 3 and 4 colours. Then, they painted the background with a choice of light or dark blue water colours. Kindergarten were super surprised by how well the birds contrasted with their background colour choices!... What a bright and cheery flock we have here at MPS!! #LoveWhereYouLearn See more

06.01.2022 During Term 2, 4/5 have been developing their measurement skills by calculating area and perimeter. In this artwork, students in 4/5 accurately wrote their names on grid paper and used their knowledge of area and perimeter to calculate how much space their name takes up. Using their artistic skills, students outlined and coloured their names in. Great work 4/5!

06.01.2022 There continues to be a small number of people disregarding the parking signs and road rules out the front of our school. Please consider the safety of our children; drive carefully and park in the correct places when visiting our school.

05.01.2022 This term, K/1 have been learning about persuasive texts. They read the book, "Duck! Rabbit!" by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and had to decide whether they thought the animal was a duck or a rabbit. They then created duck and rabbit artworks. 02.01.2022 Today I am pleased to announce that I have secured $297,934 in funding for a total of 17 projects through the 2020 Community Building Partnership Program. The f...unds will deliver much-needed improvements to local facilities including Wallsend Baptist Church Hope Street, Wallsend, who received $21,906 and will use the funds for the purchase of new freezers to allow them to store more precooked meals for the homeless and those in need. The money will also go to assist Novacare Community Services to purchase a battery assisted Triobike and Family Support Newcastle to provide an outdoor play area for their clients. I congratulate all the organisations that were successful in their application and look forward to seeing how these projects make a real difference for community groups in the area. My office received applications totalling more the $1.6 million and assessing the projects was extremely tough, with so many worthy projects just missing out on the $300,000 total to be allocated.
