23.01.2022 Great to have Ron Aldag pop in for a tour of the school. A surprise for his 81st birthday from his daughter. Ron lived in Keon st when he started school in 1944. Thanks for the class photos Ron!

21.01.2022 It is with great sadness we learn of the passing of Harold Fletcher, well respected teacher at Thornbury in the 1960’s. Harold and his wife were great supporters of the Thornbury Centenary in 2015. We extend our sincere sympathy to Joy and his family.

18.01.2022 Have you purchased a copy?

16.01.2022 We are still searching for photos from 1972 and 1977. This is one from 1972.

14.01.2022 Can you help? Class photos from the early 1970's are required for our archives. There are limited samples from 1970 through to 1977. We have a full set of 1978 and 1979. If you have any class photos you can share the best options for us are to scan and email them to the school or post copies or post on our fb page. Thank you!!

12.01.2022 The history group are continuing sorting and cataloguing the archives. Thank you to some ex students who donated some class photos we didn’t have from the 1940’s and 1970’s. They are a great addition to our archives! We have a huge gap in our collection of photos in the 1970’s. Anyone able to post on fb or send any directly to the school?

09.01.2022 The Thornbury History committee have been busy this year storing and collating the school archives. The PROV grant we received has been well spent on storage cupboards, boxes and archival folders. Great to have a central location for all our historical items. If you have any items to donate please drop them into office during school hours. All items welcome!

09.01.2022 Here’s one from 1977. Would like more class pics from these years to add to our collection!

08.01.2022 Well done Thornbury Primary! TPS has finally received formal recognition for its commitment to Koorie Education, one that is longstanding and ongoing. When I first arrived at TPS 20 years ago, there was already in place, policies, programs and activities, as well as leadership and staff, dedicated to ensuring a culturally safe, supportive and empowering learning environment for our Koorie kids. This commitment has been held and shared by many over the years, and continues to be strengthened and grown by current staff, leadership, school council, and community members. Congratulations to all, past and present, who collectively and deservedly share this award. So proud to be a part of this school! TLF

04.01.2022 HISTORIC DESK RETURNS TO THORNBURY PRIMARY SCHOOL The wooden desk presented to our first head teacher - J.O Hughes by the citizens of Thornbury on his retirement from teaching in 1927 and the chair in memory of his wife who had passed away earlier in 1925 has been donated to the school by the Hughes family. A portrait of J.O. Hughes can be found in the school foyer next to the honour board of winners of the scholarship named after him and awarded to students who display academic ability and contribute to the school community. We are very grateful to the Hughes family for their generosity and their continued interest in the progress of our school.
