Your baby’s cerebrum, a part of the brain that is responsible for memory, motor skills, and intellect, is preparing to be able to conduct communication between cells. Rapid eye movements (REM) have begun to occur during your baby’s sleep. The bones and organs are still visible through the skin; howeve...r, they will soon become less visible due to the continued formation of fat. If you’re suffering from back pain, it will bother you more as your belly is getting bigger. Depending on what offers you relief, use ice packs, warmth, or a receiving a pregnancy massage to make you feel relaxed. You may notice some other changes in your body including heat rash, skin tags, a reddish tinged colour to your soles and palms and blotchy legs. All these changes are temporary. Your uterus is expanding and is now at belly button level.

12.01.2022 WEEK 24 Your baby is now the size of a bunny Your baby’s primitive memory is beginning to develop, implying that music and voices will be leaving an impression in your little one’s brain. Your baby’s spine has 1000 ligaments, 150 joints and 33 vertebrae. Blood vessels are busy developing inside the lungs, and nostrils are beginning to open. Now that your baby has fully developed hands, loud noises may even prompt them to cover their tiny ears to shield them from sounds.... Your baby’s skin has now changed from translucent to a more opaque in appearance. The cerebral cortex, the part of your baby’s brain that is responsible for emotions, reasoning, planning and ability to solve problems, is the most prominent part of the brain at this point. Your belly is getting larger all the time. Around this time, you may start to notice when your baby gets hiccups. These will feel like regular, rhythmic, jerky movements. These are an involuntary reflex and so do not count as movement. Headaches, leg cramps and even rib pain are normal at this time as your baby is taking up much space cramping your organs. The skin of your belly may become itchy due to stretching from growth spurts. You may begin experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions at this time. They occur due to tightening of the uterine muscles and are felt for one to two minutes. They are generally not painful. Twins tend to cause more Braxton Hicks contractions. These contractions do not have a pattern, like true labour contractions.

11.01.2022 WEEK 21 Your baby is now the size of an eggplant Your baby weighs almost a pound now, even if you’re having twins. Movements of your baby are deliberate and are preparing their motor skills and coordination. Though hair is growing on your baby’s head, the colour will be white as the pigment has not yet developed. ... The limbs are proportionate, but your baby is still very thin, weighing approximately one-seventh of the final weight at birth. Your baby’s brain is beginning to have a period of rapid growth and development. Your uterus is expanding and is now at belly button level. Leg cramps become an unpleasant issue for many women at this point. From now on it’s possible to have some leakage from your nipples at any time; this is just your breasts preparing to breastfeed your baby. If you are experiencing backache, it is likely to be bothering you more. Your lower back is experiencing a lot of strain. This is such a perfect time to start getting regular massage treatment. 05.01.2022 WEEK 23 Your baby is now the size of a Maltese pup Your baby’s hair is beginning to change to the colour that it will be at birth. Your baby’s weight will double in the next four weeks. Right now your baby weighs about the same as a lengthy paperback novel. The lungs are developing and preparing for their first breaths. They are also producing a substance called surfactant that helps in keeping the lungs from collapsing or sticking together during exhalation. Loud noise...s may startle your baby, causing a sudden jolt in your uterus. Due to your baby’s growth, space in your uterus is limited, a situation made worse by multiples. If you are getting wobbly while walking at this stage, this is a normal reaction to the change in your centre of gravity. Take extra care, especially while climbing stairs. Stretch marks are probably becoming more noticeable and may even itch as your skin stretches. Eating a healthy diet will ensure a steady weight gain. Some women may notice increased sensitivity to the sun, changes in sleep patterns and bleeding gums. Always discuss any concerns you have with your doctor. You may begin to notice some pain in your shoulders due to the strain caused by your growing breasts. Now serious couple talk; Early in pregnancy, fatigue and morning sickness can put a damper on intimacy. Many women find their libido improves as pregnancy progresses. But now it’s your turn to be worried perhaps you’re concerned that sex will harm the baby or that your baby will somehow know what’s going on. Keep in mind your baby is well cushioned by amniotic fluid, and the mucus plug is sealing off the cervix, keeping any intruders from entering the uterus. Unless her healthcare provider has instructed otherwise, sex is perfectly safe during pregnancy. Be creative with positioning to find one that is most comfortable for her.

01.01.2022 WEEK 25 Your baby is now the size of a papaya While listening to music, you might notice that your baby moves ‘rhythmically’ in response to the sounds. Your baby weighs about one and a half pounds (750 grams) now. The little brain is beginning a period of growth, and over 50% of your baby’s energy will be used for this purpose. The lungs are developing air sacks (alveoli), and the membrane that allows for the exchange of carbon dioxide and oxygen is now thin enough to l...et your baby take a breath by the end of the week. Even though your baby’s skin is loose and wrinkly at this point, it will fill with fat during the third trimester. Your baby’s eyes are completely developed, and the brain is able to register various stimuli such as sound and light. By now it’s likely that other people can feel your baby kicking. Simple daily activities are now becoming difficult due to the size of your belly such as tying shoelaces, and driving. Now is also the time when you might be feeling extra tired. Naps can help if you can schedule one. You may experience a slight leakage of urine with a sneeze or cough due to the pressure placed on your organs by the uterus. For the partner; While it’s often hard to feel part of the pregnancy after all, the baby is growing inside her body keep in mind your baby can hear you now. Sing to your baby, read to your baby, and talk to your baby. Feel your partner’s ripe, round, growing abdomen (with her permission, of course) to see if the baby reacts to your presence and voice. You may even be able to see or feel the kicks! Don’t be alarmed if you can’t feel the baby move yet it may take a few more weeks before the baby is big enough for movement to be felt on the outside.
