25.01.2022 History Month is 1-31 October 2020 and the Mirboo and District Historical can help with your family history research of families from the local area. There is a modest fee for this service. Please make contact with us if you think we can assist.

23.01.2022 Once again the Mirboo and District Historical Society is looking for assistance. We wish to know where the Mirboo North Nursery was situated in Ridgway with the proprietor Doreen Peirce, formerly of Churchill in February 1977. Picture taken from Times newspaper. Can anyone remember please?

23.01.2022 This Sunday 25th April 2021, we remember all our service men and women who served during all wars and especially the brave soldiers who lost their lives never to return to Australian shores along with our current serving Navy, Army and Air Force people. The local RSL will be holding a dawn service 6:00am at the cenotaph in Baromi Park and later an Anzac Day service at the Secondary College auditorium 10:00am.

20.01.2022 The changing face of number 46 Main Street, later changing the name to 'Ridgway'. Grogan's Grocery from 1939 and various proprietors until the building was auctioned in 1995 when it became a Bakery until 2003 and remained empty for a while. Now it is the home of the Mirboo North Pharmacy which moved from number 84 Ridgway in 2008.

20.01.2022 This was the Pioneer Store in Main Street, Mirboo North built and run by Thomas Ridgway from 1886. He was in partnership with Balding who purchased the business from him in 1892. Many owners operated business in this shop over the years. It was a grand old two level building which stood until 1972 when it was demolished. Thomas Ridgway is who our main street is named after. This building was situated on the site where the new shops were built housing the hairdresser up to the butcher shop.

20.01.2022 Tonight is the Grand Final in Brisbane, 24th October 2020, instead of September for the AFL usually in Melbourne. This photo is of the 1917 Mirboo North Football Team. Not in the tiger colours of today but all in uniform. Unfortunately with the black and white photo we do not know what colour they wore or the names of the boys. Can anyone assist with names?

19.01.2022 For many years the 'Commercial Hotel' at Mirboo North was run by the Farmer family. Now in 2020, the same hotel now known as the 'Mirboo North Hotel' situated on the same site in Ridgway has new owners.

19.01.2022 The Mirboo and District Historical Society are looking for a photograph of the house that was situated at 98 Ridgway, Mirboo North prior to No. 96 Milk Bar being established on the front section in 1990. This copy is from an old newspaper and not good quality.

18.01.2022 Mirboo North Times proprietor Norm Martyn proof reading one copy of the local newspaper then situated at the old Times office building which still stands today but privately owned. This photo is thanks to his daughter Joy. Now the Mirboo North Times continues to be printed each week by volunteers who do a great job but could do with some more input with articles during this covid time with no sports being played and very little movement for organisations in our town.

12.01.2022 How many people have walked the Baths Road Reserve? This photo was taken in 1995. Will there be a controlled burn this year or not?

07.01.2022 This week we go back to 1963 Basketball team at Mirboo North High School. Our thanks go to Joy and Judi for this photo supplied to the Mirboo and District Historical Society Inc.

06.01.2022 This is the old garage that was situated in the middle of Main Street, Mirboo North opposite the Commercial (now Mirboo North Hotel). The top photo was when H. Taylor was proprietor in the 1930's and the bottom photo is when Stanley Smith was proprietor in the 1950's. Would any one have a good quality photo of this building when it was still a garage? It is now an empty shop.

06.01.2022 This week we look at a photo of the Mirboo North Young Farmers around the mid to late 1950's. Can you name any of them? We are also looking for the 'Honour Board' that the Young Farmers had prior to the group closing down. If you know where it is we would love to hear from you.

04.01.2022 We look back to 1997 and one of our many street parades that have been held in Mirboo North over the years with fantastic floats. This one entered by the Mirboo North Times. In the past this weekend would be Arty Gras which has not been held for a couple of years now.

04.01.2022 Three very well dressed ladies on a visit to a fern gully with creek near Mirboo North. Do you know these unknown people? It would be lovely to be able to name them and date taken.

03.01.2022 This photo is of the Bank of Australasia that was situated where the Bakery is today on the corner of Peters Street and Ridgway. It was established here in 1901 and closed in 1942. This building had a number of uses before it was demolished around 1982 to make way for the new brick buildings.

02.01.2022 CAN ANYONE ASSIST WITH THIS PHOTO? We do not believe it is Mirboo North so where was this taken approximately 1930? What are the flags and where mighty it be? Take note of the building in the background.

01.01.2022 Mirboo North's old ambulance station shortly before it was demolished in 2009 to make way for a new building. This is apparently progress but just another part of our history gone.
