13.01.2022 Went back and forth in my head about posting this pic for a bit. Came to the realisation that we have been programmed as a society in such a way that we are worried that we are ‘too much’ or ‘not enough’ when in actual fact both of those thoughts stem from the same thing, & also come from my own deep rooted insecurities I have about myself. I was worried maybe it would be too much posting this picture, but then came to the realisation that I have worked really hard for years ...on getting to a place of feeling confident within myself after years of living with an Eating Disorder. I feel we are currently living in a society where everyone has an opinion on what you ‘should’ or ‘shouldn’t’ be and we are constantly trying to mould ourselves into what we think society and social media wants us to be. Some of my thoughts & mind chatter being: ‘Will it take away from my music if I post a bikini shot? Will people in the industry think less of me? I know people say artists shouldn’t post bikini pics, but I love the beach and being outdoors, and I enjoy that just as much as i love writing music & performing it?’ So, I just came to the conclusion that I would post it even though talking about it really scares me sometimes, and practice as I preach. We shouldn’t feel ashamed of our bodies, or posting something that makes us feel good about ourselves, in fear of others judgement of being ‘too much’ of ‘not enough’, but should instead feel proud, uplift each other & work on deconstructing these thought patterns that we have unconsciously programmed in our brain.
