25.01.2022 This tank top had a tear under the arm...oops. I repaired it by adding a small dart and, voila! Do you have an item of clothing that has a tear? Bring it to me and I'll do my very best to fix it

23.01.2022 Oops, what a doozy! To fix this impressive tear in this school jumper I carefully hand darned it back to life. School uniforms are expensive...so ensure you extend their usage by fixing any accidents rather than throwing them out!

23.01.2022 My client accidentally sat on a hot cigarette...OOPS and OUCH! It burnt a hole in her knit dress. I hand stitched it back together, it may have a little burn mark but it's very small and the dress is still wearable!

22.01.2022 BUSY BUSY BUSY!! Covid-19 affected many weddings, thankfully for those Brides/Grooms and the small businesses affected by these changes, many of them have been rescheduled. This has meant that there is a sudden influx of weddings in early September. Because of this, I am taking a temporary hiatus on booking NEW appointments, so that I can catch up and focusing on my current bookings. ... I want to ensure that those currently booked in, and those Brides/Grooms who have already had their weddings postponed, don't have any other hiccups in their plans. All enquiries will continue to be answered as per normal, and bookings can still be made. I just need a few days of solid sewing to catch up on my current rack of jobs! Thank you in advance for understanding, I will reassess opening regular appointments from the 14th August. Laura

22.01.2022 A while ago a client approached me with an interesting project which I was super keen to give a go! He wanted to create a vest which is heated by a USB...brilliant! I had to insert each of the heating pads into the vest, then add the cord holding points inside it. Then I inserted and attached the ON/OFF button on the outside with an opening inside the pocket for the charging cable to hide and hold the power source. ... Guess what?! It worked a treat! I had one happy very toasty warm client, perfect for these chilly evenings and cool days.

22.01.2022 My client had a performance competition and required custom outfits for his particular themes and also to allow him the movement required for his performance. Here we have a lovely renaissance shirt without sleeves and a hooded cape with two slits high enough to allow him to easily move his arms. I love working with performance pieces as they generally require more movement and specifics directly related to their specific type of performance!

21.01.2022 This maxi-dress needed shortening, to keep it flattering I removed the levels from the top tier. If you look closely you will see that the first skirt level is a little shorter...but I bet you would not have noticed if I hadn't of pointed it out?!

21.01.2022 Pockets on jeans seem to be one of those little things in life which we take for granted...until they get a hole in the pocket, leaving them no longer functional! I can fully repair the pockets so you can stop losing things through those pesky holes!

21.01.2022 I don't often post images of myself however, I loved this little outfit I made to wear to Indulgence Burlesque to see Delza Skye and Kitty Litteur in the outfits I created for their performances. The dress - I made myself! The earrings - by Deluxe Creations and Designs... I also had my eyebrows shaped and tinted by Delza at Saran Pike Beauty, I highly recommend her, my favourite Byford beautician!

21.01.2022 Most people know that you can remove length from a pair of pants if they are too long....but what about adding length? Sure thing! These jeans were too short, so I added another length of denim, with a raw hem and a bit of velvet ribbon at the top to tie it in and also make it a feature.

20.01.2022 MEOW! Anyone who knows me well knows how much I love cats...I always have! Now that I've been in my new home for a while, I've decided to get back on board with cat fostering & rescue. ... A few of my clients know I've been fostering, and also tackling a local Byford cat colony with safely trapping, rehabilitating, and getting them in to care to become adoptable kitties with my rescue group. Fostering and rehabilitating stray cats has become a great passion of mine. When I'm not sewing, I am spending time with my foster kitties, or scouting the Byford Shopping and Industrial Precinct for kittens and stray cats in need...this gets them off the street and into safe and loving homes! One of my wonderful local clients knew this and decided to drop me in this amazing gift to help me feed my strays! Thank you Jenny! The cats will love it!

19.01.2022 These shorts needed and extra panel down the sides to make them bigger. Luckily, these shorts were a pair of jeans in another life, we still had the leftover fabric, which we used for the added panel!

19.01.2022 Our local Vet wanted special holes made in these towels so they could easily and safely vaccinate unruly or scared cats. The hole allows for easy access to pinch the fur on their necks ready for the needle. It's a win/win for all involved!

17.01.2022 When this dress first came through my door it was not flattering, with a lot of excess fabric. I completely unpicked the waistline and then tucked, pinned, and darted to give it shape, and...WOW!! What a transformation!

15.01.2022 Does anyone else hate giving gifts in wrapping paper?! I do! I just loved making these present bags, in three different sizes they are perfect for giving gifts over and over!... What a brilliant idea AND...imagine all of the fabric and print options!

Here I made slits where the pockets are located so you have easy access to the pockets in the pants! ... No more needing to basically remove the overalls to get to your pockets underneath! 13.01.2022 Oops! My clients jean stud had been torn off, damaging the fabric in the process. First I needed to repair the fabric before I could replace it with a new stud. ... It's now probably stronger than it was before too!

13.01.2022 Picture perfect bridal gown!! My clients' gown had a heavy crease in the fabric over the waist, to help smooth it out I added extra boning for support. Aisle ready!

12.01.2022 That colour though! How wonderful does Lulu Liqueur in this custom-made burlesque costume! We went for a stunning 50s style to hide a pleather costume change!... I just love it!

12.01.2022 Unfortunately, I didn't get a finished pic of this stunner of a dress! This dress was not sitting nicely on the waist, it was also super long. Plus, my client wanted to add an eye-catching split up the side. I unpicked the waist, lifted it to the right height (saving a second alteration on the hemline), and then re-fitted it around the waist and hips. Then came the thigh-high split!... Just stunning!

12.01.2022 Delicate custom bridal headpiece My bride wanted a headpiece made out of the offcuts from her bridal dress alteration. So delicate and pretty and perfectly matching her gown!

11.01.2022 My client's long sequined dress, whilst stunning, wasn't what she wanted. She wanted the length shortened and sleeves added - great idea! I suggested we give it a flutter sleeve that tapers to be longer at the back. I used the material which was cut off the length for the arms!... She was stoked with the result!

10.01.2022 When a client needs a hem raised but wants to ensure they keep the original look of the jean hem, such as the design, tears or special stitching....it is possible! To keep the original authenticity of the original jeans, I cut the original hem off, remove the extra fabric and then attach it like a binding. In the image attached you will see the following stages:... 1. Before 2. Unpicked hem ready to attach 3. Attaching the original hem back on 4. After Don't want to lose the hem...there is a way!

09.01.2022 I love making a vision come to life!! A client came to me wanting to dress up as Ariana Grande with her latex bunny mask. Challenge accepted! ... It was tricky to get those ears to stand up, but the finished mask was incredible, and my client looked and felt the part for her birthday dress-up party!

09.01.2022 Pleather couch cushions...don't you hate it when they begin to flake? There isn't anything you can do to save the pleather, BUT you can have them re-covered! My client chose their fabric (in this case it was dark denim), using this I made her brand new covers. ... As good as new!

07.01.2022 The evolution of Delza Skye's stunner of a blue dress!! A while ago the gorgeous Delza brought me a blue dress, it was beautiful, but it needed...something? Over the course of about a year or two, we kept adding to it, and changing it until it turned into this beautiful 4 piece outfit!... In the end, it became a top, bustle, skirt AND bonnet. I loved working on this ongoing project, and I love hearing just how many positive comments she receives on it...then they are shocked when this stunning dress (that looks like a complete 1 piece outfit) breaks up into multiple pieces, easily removed on the burlesque stage! Amazing things can be done with a skeleton garment for a base. What a journey this dress has been on!

02.01.2022 Don't you hate it when you order a dress on time, it actually arrives on time BUT it doesn't fit!? So what do you do? You re-order it in the correct size, you know you have plenty of time to receive it...but then delivery delays hold it up. My client decided to alter the original dress. ... The hemline didn't have to come up much (only by a cm or two) which meant that I had some scraps to play with. Using these scraps I created some panels to go into the underarm/side area, and then I re-created the pleated look that was originally on the dress. PANIC OVER! It now fits! PANIC OVER! It now fits!

01.01.2022 I tend to see a rise in jean repair work throughout the Winter period. These work jeans received a rather large tear on the butt, I repaired it and added some strength to the area. Fixed and ready for the worksite again!
