25.01.2022 This should be a cracker and we can all do some non-contagious vicarious group singing along! https://redsquaremusic.cmail19.com//1D90B06CEFCEBBC14936C3

24.01.2022 A wonderful and very current way to learn musical note durations!

22.01.2022 I know it's a banjo...but it's Steve Martin! https://twitter.com/SteveMartin/status/1241408095579856896

21.01.2022 Where there's a carpark or an old drive-in movie theatre, there's a way! https://www.abc.net.au//drive-in-concert-coronavi/12223420

21.01.2022 This is an excellent interview with Dr Daniel Levitin, musician, music producer, musical neuroscientist and author of one of my fave books, 'Your Brain on Music'. This radio segment is called Take 5 because the interviewee chooses five tracks which are personally meaningful for them. The tracks and his explanations for choosing them are really entertaining and informative.

17.01.2022 Got a spare 20 hours? This great TEDxCSU (Colorado State University) talk features not only ukulele but a version of my favourite Axis of Awesome song! https://youtu.be/5MgBikgcWnY

16.01.2022 Haven't had a chance to listen to this yet, but it's lifelong musician and audio neuroscientist Dr Nina Kraus discussing the effect of music on brain development and education. https://soundcloud.com/danafoundation/the-sound-explorer

14.01.2022 Remember when we could all sing together? Choir!Choir!Choir! with Patti Smith (and Stewart Copeland - ex The Police drummer) reminding us of some of the important things in life! https://youtu.be/y6Wz3i_BYUc

13.01.2022 Mask-up and keep your distance!

11.01.2022 Want to get better with practice? Here's a great insight to why & how, plus it gently takes down my pet hate - the expression 'muscle memory'! https://youtu.be/f2O6mQkFiiw

11.01.2022 Here's an interesting non-contagious event and the link if you want to join in (free zoom download may be required) https://zoom.us/j/210211026?key=648e58fd25

10.01.2022 And yet more useful advice. A small group I'm involved with met at a suitable distance and with face shields on today. Singing was a bit quieter than usual and I kept trying to drink my water through the shield, but it was otherwise easy and unintrusive! https://www.abc.net.au//how-can-we-resume-choir-p/12344812

09.01.2022 Even if you're lucky enough to be living in a town or city where community transmission seems to have ceased, it's still important to know that singing is a transmission vector, as this study published at the end of September confirms. That's why we're still masking-up! https://musictrust.com.au//this-video-shows-just-how-easi/

07.01.2022 AI makes scientifically useful music from SARS-CoV-2 https://www.abc.net.au//coronavirus-music-scienti/12124424

04.01.2022 Just thought I'd mention, about a month ago I put up a revised Classic Six Pack for sale on the Ukulele Central site. It now has U-bass parts for all the pieces and a revised Pachelbel's Canon - still in the original D and still 3 parts but a lot more forgiving! https://www.ukulelecentral.com.au//classic-six-pack-for-u/

03.01.2022 Presenting 'The Norwegian Championships of Standstill'. If you listened to Daniel Levitin, you may have heard him mention that it was very difficult for people to stay still inside the fMRI when there was music playing, and this study confirms it. https://medicalxpress.com/ne/2020-06-music-impossible.html

01.01.2022 Hmmm. not so sure about this one unless it has an external speaker system!
