23.01.2022 Flew to WA yesterday to share my story with staff at Commonwealth Bank This was all part of their annual Mental Health Week gathering. Thank you to everyone for being so welcoming, and an extra shout out to those that have reached out since to share their appreciation. ... I always wanted to take my story out of Tasmania, so I’m really excited at the amount of opportunities I’m getting lately. #LivedExperience #StayChatTY #1%ers See more

23.01.2022 Excited for a big year of sharing my story across the country. Some positive feedback from a recent keynote at the 2019 ASBA National Conference #LivedExperience #StayChatTY

21.01.2022 Pretty daunting and emotional session for me today sharing to a bunch of familiar faces. Young men that knew Tig, played footy with him, even watched a few of them play cricket with him in the street at Mums place. I saw the sadness in their eyes as I spoke about all the things I miss in my little brother. I could genuinely tell that those who knew him, miss him also.... A heavy heart as always after speaking with a group of young tradesman, but feeling grateful that I had the chance to open their eyes. #StayChatTY #ForTig See more

20.01.2022 Always grateful for the support from our state politicians (both parties). Great to catch up with Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing, Jeremy Rockliff recently.

18.01.2022 That’s me this week, up the front in front of 90 odd people talking about being touched by suicide. A daunting 50 minutes that I still get nervous about every single time I do it. Fortunately I’m always supported and appreciated by everyone I share with. ... Sometimes though, there’s so much extra love and support in the room that it just blows me away. Oral Health Services, what an amazing bunch of people. Thank you! Pumped to speak in WA tomorrow night at the @theinnerninjafo gala ball. #LivedExperience #StayChatTY See more

17.01.2022 Some positive feedback from my recent keynote presentation at the National Taxation Conference here in Hobart. Sharing my story is something that I’m completely passionate about, and I want as many individuals as possible to hear it #LivedExperience #StayChatTY

11.01.2022 Very cool Q and A last week with the grade 10 students at Montrose Bay High School. I’ll always be an advocate for positive mental health and suicide prevention. But I’m loving lately discussing more about starting Stay ChatTY, and being seen as a good example for young people wanting to create change within their communities. @elenigallagher

10.01.2022 It was my pleasure to keynote in front of 500+ people at the Australian College of Nursing dinner last week. An incredible audience who truly embraced my story #Keynote #StayChatTY #AusCollegeofNursing

07.01.2022 Last night I had the absolute pleasure of sharing my story to staff from a prominent cafe group in Melbourne. The group is headed up by two of my closest friends Julien Moussi and Kristy-Lea Moussi and it was their initiative, along with Tony Pantano to bring together some of their team for the session. The world of hospitality brings stresses and issues that lots of us know very little about. And the topic of mental health is quite often not spoken about, and in-fact... still very taboo. I’m proud of the group for getting out of their comfort zone and for getting on the front foot to make their work place a more open and supportive environment Oh, and I got to see one of my favourites little Halle again #StayChatTY #OnePercenters

06.01.2022 So excited to welcome Tash to the team. As always, thank you to everyone who supports us, you help create these stages of growth. #StayChatTY

06.01.2022 Another wonderful story from Stay ChatTY’s Stories Worth Sharing

06.01.2022 It’s World Suicide Prevention Day, so my good friend Michael (COO at RA TAS) and I put together a piece for today’s talking point in the Mercury. Check it out below https://mitchmcpherson.com.au/world-suicide-prevention-day/... #StayChatTY #WSPD19

05.01.2022 On the weekend I shared my story with Adventure Patch Child Care staff from all across Tasmania. Bullying among young people we know is an ongoing issue. And I believe a lot of it develops because of the fear of difference. We need to be encouraging each other (especially the youth of today) to always remember that if someone has different interests to you, that doesn’t mean you cannot find good values in that person.... I urge this amazing group of people to always lead by example when it comes to compassion and kindness. Because the truth is the young watch us, and they soak up all that we do. Change will come if we lead the way See more

04.01.2022 Sitting down with Darran Wayne Petty to talk about my journey on his podcast was such an emotional, but very pleasant experience. Reflecting on the actual night Ty passed away was something I don’t do to often, hence why the emotion spilled over. I hope people can spare some time to watch this, because just like each and every other time I talk about losing my brother, I do it in the hope of saving a life.

04.01.2022 Completely investing all of your energy into the space of mental health certainly has plenty of ups and downs. It happened only a couple of weeks ago where I heard some tragic news that automatically made me second guess everything I stand for. After a rough day, but some good conversations, I was reassured of some great advice that I’d heard before, but tend to at times easily forget. ... Day to day we hear of people that are struggling, people who are doing it tough. And some times we regrettably hear about those whose struggles became too much for them to bare. What we don’t always hear are the good outcomes that we may have created. The positive changes in someone’s mental health we may have helped kick start, or the people who view themselves in a better light because we assured them it is ok to be different. It’s incredibly hard to measure the positive outcomes, so the advice to me was to simply keep the faith that what we are continuing to do is working. That’s why today in Launceston I was pumped to get in and see this man, Joshie Lawrence. I met Josh through our work with Banjos, and on the night I met him (2 years ago) he let himself get completely vulnerable and open up to me about his previous struggles. Josh thanked and thanked me for the work we do, and assured me that our work contributed to him knowing that it was ok to not be ok. Josh and I are now mates, and he supports us just like I now know our messages supported him. So whilst at times I feel complete sorrow that we can’t help everyone realise that there is help out there, I do know that along this journey some have been great enough to share that we have helped. So whilst I will always walk around with a heavy heart, I will never forget how fortunate I am to do what I do. Even though I don’t see the changes every step of the way. #StayChatTY everyone, oh and get in and grab yourself a large Banjos coffee See more

03.01.2022 The @royalsrugby crew sure know how to do a fundraiser. Great to share my story as an @ruokday ambassador in Canberra last night. Ready for a big few days speaking in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne this week. ... #StayChatTY #Werk See more

02.01.2022 Each time I’m finishing up a presentation, I always cast my eyes around the room and look at as many faces as I can as I close the session. In that moment the thought that goes through my mind is simply hoping that what I’ve had to say doesn’t get forgotten as soon as people get up and leave the room. I hope so badly that my story creates change, and that it empowers as many as possible to view mental health in a positive light.... Of course though I leave shortly afterwards, and the reality is I will never know the true impact it had. I guess that’s why messages like this mean so much. I don’t share for pumped up tyres, I share to show others that change is happening, and we have to keep the faith for a brighter future StayChatTY
