25.01.2022 Copying and pasting because I apparently can't share my 'about' post. My story, for now anyway... After I completed my degree in Scientific photography, I started Mitchell Imaging & Photography as a freelance photographic business and provided a range of imaging and photographic services including film scanning and restoration, printing, commercial photography, and even wedding photography. Currently Im employed full time at the University of Melbourne in the department of ...Anatomy and Neuroscience as an Imaging Technician, which involves a vast range of image creation and photography relating to medical and teaching applications. As such, Mitchell Imaging & Photography has become, for the time being, more a place to share the images taken in my free time than a fully functioning business. Or perhaps, an online business card and portfolio should I decide to reignite the freelance side of things. I actually really enjoy the fact that some of my photographic work remains a hobby. I have the two sides to my work... The technical imaging / medical / archival / commercial aspect that I do for work at the University, and my hobby to keep the passion burning. I love the process of photography almost more than I do the end result. I love that it drives me to get out into cities, or nature and look for new images. A great photograph is a fantastic reward, but its also just a bonus for me. In recent years, photography has motivated and inspired me to travel and seek out new and exciting subject matter. Some may say that photography distracts you from experiencing the world around you. That you end up spending your time travelling looking through a viewfinder. I disagree. Although this may be true for some, I strongly believe that traveling with the desire to capture exciting new content makes me more acutely aware of my surroundings. It makes me look for, and appreciate the little details that I may have otherwise missed without my photography brain in gear. For the most part the travel photography, and landscapes that I post on my website and facebook page here are just for me. But I do love to share it with anyone who is interested as well. I have been told that I really should sell prints but I worry that turning this part of my photography into a business could possibly take away from the hobby side, that other side of my photography that inspires me and keeps me sharp. That doesnt mean youre not welcome to send me a message and purchase a print, but I dont see myself officially opening up a store... at least for the time being. Cheers, Gav.

These animals were on the way out and because of one photograph, its hopefully going to create enough ecotourism to make the locals realize that theres a good reason to keep these monkeys alive, Slater said. 06.01.2022 This one I think is my fave from this morning. I really like the soft light and pastel colours. I believe the Mentone locals refer to this as Seagull Rock. I never seem to see any seagulls on it. Actually loving this camera. I wasnt expecting this much after seeing the reviews. Just goes to show that its all pixel peeping and splitting hairs, all modern cameras are pretty rad. I think people need to get out there and actually use them instead of criticising specs. The full res versions of this is stunning. Its begging to be printed on some fine art matte paper I reckon.

01.01.2022 Finally got our LED lit cabinet up and running at work. Behold the Cabinet of Curiosities! All the stuff here was used in the department at some stage. Some absolutely gorgeous camera gear, some of which was buried in cupboards that hadn't been explored for more than 20 years.
