25.01.2022 Many children are enjoying the opportunity to watch the playground construction. We can't wait!

25.01.2022 Saturday morning Playgroup for 0 - 5 yr old children with their families is on tomorrow from 9am to 10.30am. First session is $12.00 then $50 for 5 sessions. Come along and enjoy some outdoor play with Jo!

25.01.2022 Unit 2/2 day children found a spider in the Passion fruit vine. They noticed it was white and had black spikes. The spider had caught a bee and started spinning a web around it. We did some research and found out they are called Jeweled Spiders. We know they eat bees! But what else would they eat?

25.01.2022 MPC children joined nearly 2 million other children around Australia and NZ today when they listened to space astronaut Sharon read the story "Give Me Space" by Philip Bunting from the International Space Station. At the end of the story we watched her let got of the book and it floated!

25.01.2022 Welcome back to kindy! Thank you very much parents for adjusting to the changed arrival and departure processes this week. It has been impressive to see so many children who have also stepped up to these new changes.

25.01.2022 Children were extremely lucky to see the Citrus Swallowtail caterpillar on the lime tree. A chrysalis was also noticed. Theyre now patiently waiting to see the colours of the butterfly when it emerges! Happy Friday everyone!

24.01.2022 The beginnings of a creek and new digging patch area at MPC..... so exciting!

24.01.2022 Many challenges this week in our playgrounds with our latest rope courses! Happy Weekend everyone!

24.01.2022 An exciting day at MPC...the truck delivers the softall....

23.01.2022 The MPC children have listened to the "Anzac Biscuits" book this week and the Unit 1 children also made our very own Wreath for our front courtyard. For those children who werent with us this week at kindy you might like to use the link below to hear this wonderful story over the weekend. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNrTFN_43w0

22.01.2022 What a wonderful Monday morning to arrive after a Saturday working bee where a team of 14 parents had committed half of their Saturday to transforming our grounds... sanding and re-varnishing blocks, re-oiling decks, improving gardens, and the list goes on. Thank you to this fabulous team steered by Lucy, our 2020 Working Bee coordinator. Thats what makes MPC such a special place - our families....

22.01.2022 All MPC parents are invited to our "Meet and Greet" evening and AGM on Tuesday 18th Feb. Refreshments served from 7pm! Come along and get to know your childrens teachers and mingle with fellow parents.

22.01.2022 Thank you to the MPC Community for a wonderful year! And what a year it was, celebrating our 70th anniversary. As we say goodbye to our 2019 class groups and celebrate the Kindy journey, we reflect on the effect of play and how much growth has taken place. Enjoy your break-up parties this week!

21.01.2022 Saturday morning playgroup is on again this Saturday from 9am to 10.30am. Our playgroup runs every 2 weeks during term time for families with children aged 1 to 5. All are welcome to come along and make connections with other children and parents. Register at [email protected]

21.01.2022 MPC was very fortunate to be a part of the Creek Neighbours Program funded by Brisbane City Council which has extended childrens knowledge about the importance of looking after creeks, particularly the creek at the green space we affectionately call Bush Park. We were amazed to see the variety of tiny creek animals scooped up for the children to investigate. Back at kindy the children could touch a selection of animals that live near the creek and just this week, children were further empowered to look after our environment as orchards were attached to some MPC trees. The local bees will love the flowers! We hope this program can be extended for other centres and we did our best to highlight the benefits to Councillors Fiona Cunningham and Andrew Wines who joined in the fun on Thursday. Thanks BCC.

21.01.2022 MPC are fortunate to have an amazing community of families who transform our grounds on a regular basis in readiness for our children. Preparing for the start of Term 3 was an enormous job - thank you to the Butterworth family who are our holiday heroes!

19.01.2022 Fabulous morning in our Bush Park space on Sunday. Thank you to the Brisbane City Council Creek Neighbours program for organising the great activities for our children. Lovely to see so many parents enjoying a picnic under the trees and the children enjoying the great outdoors!

18.01.2022 Works progressing well... creek finished! Digging patch tunnel on the way and large fort starting soon.... I wonder where the wood panel with the ant is going to be?....

17.01.2022 As a staff team we are over the moon as we have watched children’s engagement, exchange of ideas, discovery, courage, consideration of others, problem-solving and patience to have a turn to pump or climb the bridge or find bench space on the mud kitchen.

17.01.2022 Children are practising packing their bags in response to being more independent in walking out to greet their parents each afternoon.

16.01.2022 A calm moment looking at Claras Happiness flowers! You may be interested in accessing the latest Blog Taming Butterflies accessed at https://mpc.net.au/general/taming-butterflies/ which highlights feelings of nervousness and worry that everyone feels from time to time. The blog, which features Sue Whitings book Taming Butterflies, includes a link to Kim reading it on You tube. This is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge childrens resilience/bravery in coping with something that was tricky, like going back to kindy.

15.01.2022 The Joy of Rain. Can we really lie down in a puddle at kindy? YES YOU CAN!!

14.01.2022 MPC in Term 2 is a little different from normal with reduced numbers of children attending. To keep in touch with our families who arent attending kindy at the moment the staff spent time in the holidays preparing "kindy connection bags". Families arrived by car, on foot and on scooters to collect and it seems like they have been a real hit!

14.01.2022 Flowers from our Tipuana tree at this time of year provide many opportunities for learning. Playing alongside the bees that flock to the fallen flowers.... they've swept them, used the flowers in games and enjoyed drawing them, and have to keep shoes on!

14.01.2022 2020 has certainly seen many adults and children challenged alike.... but through it all the children at MPC have continued to play! The games have grown in complexity and thinking and what a joy to stand back and watch all they have achieved in 2020.

14.01.2022 Every child has times when big emotions take over and every parent has times when they feel they manage well and times when it is just too hard to remain calm. You may be interested in reading the latest blog accessed at https://mpc.net.au/general/parenting-for-the-long-game/.

12.01.2022 Celebrating "Outdoor classroom week". We've captured some wonderous moments with our children enjoying and learning in our wonderful outdoor spaces.

12.01.2022 Claudine from Reptile Adventures visited kindy this week. Such a treat for children to be able to see, touch and learn about some favourite Aussie animals. Some childrens comments: I liked the Black headed Python because it had black on it. Black is my favourite colour- Vance I really liked to see the turtle. It was really cute. The crocodile was scary and I was scared of the snake- Fifi The animals came rushing around. I saw the crocodile. It felt like bump, bump. The snake was smoother. I liked when the snake came out of the box.- Elizabeth Those were all the animals. I didnt feel scared of the turtle but I felt scared of all the others. - Henry

10.01.2022 Trains and train stations are of great interest to the children at MPC as we are so close. Children in one group have practiced walking as a group and walked out the gate today to see some great artwork at the station and to see the trains arriving and departing. Great excitement!

08.01.2022 Last week we held our "Why Play! Where’s the Learning? Parent Information evening. Parents were given a practical insight into what our children learn through their "play" here at kindy by "playing" in a variety of scenarios and games. Some comments from parents include: Now I understand why my daughter loves coming to kindy! I was taken right out of my comfort zone but gained new insights about my children.

08.01.2022 Thanks parents for boosting our supply of loose parts. Boxes are the best! The possibilities for play are endless! Happy Holidays everyone!

06.01.2022 "I wonder"... "Imagine If".... "Do you think".... ask your children these questions to grow their thinking... read our latest blog below to discover how thinking and language are entwined. https://mpc.net.au/gene/thinking-and-language-are-entwined/

06.01.2022 Scientific thinking in action: some children have been wondering about volcanos and undertook an experiment. When Shirley asked "Can you see the gas?" an enthusiastic response was "No, it's inside the bubbles".

05.01.2022 Welcome to MPC in 2021! This week we have welcomed many new families to our kindy and welcomed back some familiar families. It's been a busy week for children... learning new routines, meeting new children and getting to know their teachers. Let the games begin!

05.01.2022 Annette from QR Rail talked to the children about being safe with trains. Some rhymes she taught us included: "Trains go very, very fast; trains are very heavy and trains take a very long time to STOP." "Behind the line is fine but further back is better."

02.01.2022 Going to the play night was a blast! It was my introduction to MPC. I would like to encourage you to come along to the Parent Information Night PLAY: WHERE’S THE LEARNING! on Wednesday 5th May at 6.45. It is an insightful night into what a day at kindy looks like. A wonderful opportunity to learn what play based learning is all about, as well as meet many of the teachers and educators. (Emma-Kate MPC President)

02.01.2022 Fresh from the Kindy Passionfruit vine and into our cupcakes. The straining of the pulp and seeds from the juice was an important step to making our cakes golden and delicious. The pulp and seeds didnt go to waste as it was enjoyed by many passionfruit lovers. We even had enough left over to sell to parents at our front door!

01.01.2022 To the city please driver!
