23.01.2022 Stradbroke Island 4WD Beach Permits A club member has obtained information from Minjerribah Camping regarding the extension of 4WD beach permits. Extract from email received : "We will be extending the permits due to the situation. If your 4WD permit has already been issued any months that you aren’t able to use due to the closure will be added on to compensate you. However we won’t be able to confirm the additional time until we have an idea of how long the island will b...e closed for. If your 4WD permit hasn’t been issued we will just keep it in the system until you collect it and that will become your start date." More information to follow when available. We are still hopeful of running the annual Straddie trip with possible date 17-27 August. This is obviously dependent on the current restrictions on travel being lifted. The special deal for caravans on the ferry is available from the 5 May to 3 September but don't book yet.

19.01.2022 WARNING: CONDAMINE RIVER ROAD through the Cambanoora Gorge is flooding with water flowing at speed across the crossings. Multiple crossings are over a metre d...eep. The road is not safe! All the recycled road material that was dumped in the crossings just prior to Christmas has been washed downstream. Please for your own safety, do not attempt to cross the river. More rain is expected, and rain in other areas of the catchment can cause the river to rise as well. Right now roads are being closed by the State Govt in around Warwick, the New England Highway, Cunningham Highway etc. Council is yet to close this road!
19.01.2022 Thanks to the Mount Perry Musos for your support of our event.

18.01.2022 This is a reminder that our March general meeting is on this Tuesday night at the usual venue, Yeronga Service Club 391 Fairfield Rd Yeronga, starting at 19:30. In light of all the recent announcements surrounding Coronavirus, the Committee has been deciding whether to proceed with this month's meeting or not, but we have made a decision to go ahead. The Services Club will still be open for business, and they have advised they have increased their cleaning and disinfecting pr...ocedures. All the Committee asks is that if you have been overseas in the last two weeks, or have been in close contact with someone who has been overseas in the last two weeks, that you please do not attend. Also for those who are coming, we recommend that we refrain from embracing, hugging or shaking hands. Maybe an elbow bump would be okay. If you feel nervous about attending then please make your own decision, but we hope to see as many of you as possible, the two for one meals are also still on.

14.01.2022 Planning a camping trip these school holidays? Camping in a national park or forest is a little different from camping in a council park or holiday park. Here’s... how: We don’t ‘do’ poweryou need to unplug or BYO solar panels, although some parks do allow generators. We have toilet facilities in most but not all parkssome parks have the flushing variety; other parks have gone for the composting kind and some parks require you to bring your own. We don’t charge the Earthour camping permits are about the same cost as your daily coffee fix. But you need to book them in advance (also a bit like your morning coffee order!) Want to know more? We have all your questions about camping (and more) covered in our handy FAQ page. 11.01.2022 Wonderful to see the boys in blue in the region over the weekend! A report just in from the regions police said to expect RBT anywhere, anytime: Rainbow Beach, ...Teewah, Freshwater Track Senior Constable Melanie Ryan said officers from the Maryborough Road Policing Unit joined officers from Gympie on Sunday, September 6, in a collaborative operation known as ‘Sand Strike’. This operation targeted anti-social driving within our local Cooloola Coast beaches and 4WD tracks. Patrols were conducted on Rainbow Beach, Freshwater Track, Leisha Track, and Teewah Beach within the Gympie Police Patrol Group. An officer conducting an RBT at Cooloola said as a result of the operation, more than 60 random breath tests were conducted and nine traffic infringement notices were issued; four were for traveling between 13km-20km/h over the speed limit, three were for exceeding speed between 20km/h and 30km/h and two for driving defective vehicles. A notice to appear was issued for a Positive Roadside Saliva Drug Test awaiting confirmation results. Officer In Charge of the Maryborough Road Policing Unit Sergeant Josh Churchward said Police will continue to target anti-social driving and defective vehicles that pose a risk to road safety in all types of environments. Hooning, Drink and Drug Driving and general loutish behaviour will not be tolerated, and spoils this pristine recreational area for families, fishers and campers, he said. If you have information for police, contact Policelink by providing information using the online suspicious activity form 24hrs per day at www.police.qld.gov.au/reporting. You can report information about crime anonymously to Crime Stoppers, a registered charity and community volunteer organisation, via crimestoppersqld.com.au 24hrs per day.

09.01.2022 Well done to the Bundaberg 4WD Club on another great corroboree at Mount Perry. It was amazing to see all the work put into the event - especially considering ...how much Covid19 kept on changing the landscape during 2020. It was heart warming to see so many children building wonderful memories over the weekend. The tracks were interesting, with some good viewpoints and just enough challenge in places to make it exciting without breaking too much. Thanks especially to Brad Praed and the corroboree team. Another great club is considering putting up their hand for next year. Watch this space

03.01.2022 VEHICLE IMPOUNDED FOR 90 DAYS AS POLICE TARGET DRIVERS ON FRASER ISLAND AND TEEWAH Almost 70 drivers have copped fines, and another three have been charged w...ith allegedly drink driving as part of a police blitz on Fraser Island and Teewah Beach. Two four-wheel-drives were immediately ordered off the road due to unsafe modifications. Gympie police patrolled Fraser Island and Teewah over the weekend, conducting 396 roadside breath tests and 16 roadside drug tests. Police impounded a vehicle for 90 days after it was driven dangerously. Inspector Pat Swindells said there was no excuse for driving dangerously, just because their vehicles weren't on bitumen. I urge all beach motorists to drive to the conditions and remember that the Fatal Five applies equally to the beach as well as our roads."

01.01.2022 One of our most beautiful and unique spots on the Southern Downs is the Cambanoora Gorge which is accessed via the Condamine River Road. This road is currently... open, however, please remember this area is a natural treasure and the public road is still a delicate part of the area’s ecosystem, so please treat it with respect. There are no bins so please enjoy the area but take all rubbish with you and remember the nearest public toilets are in Killarney. Thank you for helping us to take care of the Cambanoora Gorge and treading lightly in this area.
